If the flirt is so incredibly mild she hardly notices… I guess she figures he runs the gambit between “actually sweet” and “easily ignorable”.
Harmless is right. 😛
Well, I guess that’s a good thing. I can be a major flirt myself, but choose not to most of the time. Can’t believe I’m that similar to a character in that manner.
Though Joyce is unbelievable flirtacious being a Christian. Suddenly, it seems like I’m the male version of Joyce. HECK! Even guy Joyce in It’s Walky during the whole Canada saga, looks similar to me……wow, Creepy.
That whole little mini-arc was hilarious, even if it was slightly disturbing that I hoped the first time they were gonna bone would be whilst gender switched just to ruin everything for them….
BTW, Willis, I had to copy that link from the last time I linked to it in your comments because for some reason the drop-down box on that site keeps giving me an error message.
So he’s going to fall for Amber, while also being smitten with Amazi-girl, and feel all conflicted about his feelings for two different people, right? Cool.
I may have missed something, but where did Danny/Joe come into the mix?
Also, somebody was talking about Danny/Roz last week. And why is Danny the first listing in all of these? He seems like he’d be the weaker in the situation.
Confusing ‘furry’ with ‘fursuiter’ is unfortunately common in the world of the label-happy internet age.
I know several of the former who vehemently despise the latter. Personally, I just find them odd, but hey, it’s their life. Let ’em spend it sweating in a 40+ lbs. stuffed fox suit.
It was just a comment pointing out that Wackd had used the word ‘disguising’ instead of ‘disgusting’ – an autocomplete error I’m thinking.
15 years from now – no, 10 years hence, there will be a main character in a Disney movie who is a furry. Watch and see.
^^;; I…I don’t know why, but…I just don’t like the idea of Danny x Amber… s: I can’t explain it. Maybe I like Amber too much to have her get into a fight with Dorothy or Joyce? s:
Oddly, I like the idea of DOA Joyce/Danny, as they seem to have a lot of parallel moments and similar ideals, but I also like DOA Amber/Danny, they seem to be a cute couple.
I think I speak for most nerdy guys when I say that being considered extremely nonthreatening/not being outright shot down is way better then being immediately shot down and belittled
I find it interesting that Amber is more focused on the fact that he’s flirting with her than the fact that he’s flirting at all. Almost like she didn’t expect anyone who isn’t creepy to ever flirt with her again.
She doesn’t know him that well or what happened between him and Dorothy (at least I don’t think), and therefore has no reason to be surprised that he’s flirting at all.
In one of the few times they talked, he mentioned need to not see his ex-girlfriend in everybody. That makes him even less threatening because it’s not likely he’ll jump her bones if he’s still getting over somebody.
I want to say something about the effectiveness of Dannys approach to flirting, but I already used me Pokemon joke in the last strip, so I have got nothing.
As somebody who’s been both creepy and extremely nonthreatening depending on the kindness of the girl and just how stupid I was acting around them, I can tell you that they both suck.
As someone who has frequently been in Amber’s position, incredibly unthreatening IS desirable. My boyfriend talks about my thing for engineers like it’s some rare goldmine, but a guy who can do math, hold up his end of the conversation, and be unthreatening is like jackpot.
It’s the unthreatening bit that she’s gotta watch out for. One minute he’s cracking a thinly veiled flirt and being adoragoofy, the next he’ll be planning their grandchildren’s names and picking out wedding decorations.
I gotta admit, I’m surprised at how fast Danny is supposedly getting over Dorothy… but then I you look at the fact that both are somewhat short girls whol are apparently rather smart and wear glasses. So… does Danny just have a “type” or is he trying to rebound with someone who reminds him of his ex?
Still, either way it’s cute to see them try and flirt or just be nonthreatening.
“Your attack is super-effective at not being all creepy-like!”
Aww.
Seems to be more of an “It doesn’t affect Amber” result.
You kidding me? Look at that smile in the last panel.
See, the one on her FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE?
If the flirt is so incredibly mild she hardly notices… I guess she figures he runs the gambit between “actually sweet” and “easily ignorable”.
Harmless is right. 😛

“Why Canada? I figured, who would notice, fuck was I right.”
Preach On, Heddy Alien!
(yes, yes, He wasn’t She at the time of the quote)
That whole little mini-arc was hilarious, even if it was slightly disturbing that I hoped the first time they were gonna bone would be whilst gender switched just to ruin everything for them….
I remember that. That was my favorite arc, probably. FFFFF, I lost the link I had to it.
Here you go.
BTW, Willis, I had to copy that link from the last time I linked to it in your comments because for some reason the drop-down box on that site keeps giving me an error message.
She sure looks concerned at first.
I dunno, that face looks more like confused to me.
There is also the emphasis on the word “ME?” to back this theory up.
Possibly just stunned that a (non-creepy) guy would flirt with her.
Even if she is, that little smile cancels it out.
Progress! Technically!
The best kind of progress.
So he’s going to fall for Amber, while also being smitten with Amazi-girl, and feel all conflicted about his feelings for two different people, right? Cool.
Just call him Lois
Atta boy, Danny.
So, wait. Wait. Danny/Sarah. Danny/Amber. Danny/Joe.
BAH!
Screw pairings and ships. Everyone should just have sex with everyone! At the same time!
I may have missed something, but where did Danny/Joe come into the mix?
Also, somebody was talking about Danny/Roz last week. And why is Danny the first listing in all of these? He seems like he’d be the weaker in the situation.
Alphabetical order.
And it’s nice to see Danny making me look less pathetic in college by comparison with his every thought and deed!
Amber goes before Danny alphabetically, Or I’d buy that.
It’s reverse alphabetical by last letter. (Naturally.)
Danny is listed first because he’s the common member in all those pairings.
I don’t remember when it happened, but I swear I remember the Danny/Joe thing coming up in comments a while back…
Danny getting all fired up about protecting Joe’s honour over the video.
Who’d have thought he’d end up having a thing for the girl who looks almost EXACTLY like his ex. 😛
Brunette Dorothy doesn’t look anything like his ex!
Wow. That fourth panel is so adorable I wouldn’t be surprised if the next thing that happens is a bunch of puppies flood the classroom.
No, wait, yes I would. Never mind.
Well, now that you’ve said it, would you really be surprised? I mean, I would, this isn’t really like Shortpacked…
A flood of non-housetrained puppies.
Ah. A literal flood, then, of the disguising variety.
So they dress up as dogs…?
NO. No damn furries. You do not even joke about that.
Furries are people, too. Just because they think it’s more fun to be an anthropomorphic animal than a human, doesn’t mean they’re bad people.
Yes. Yes it does. They are bad people, very very, bad people.
I take offense to that.
It was just a comment pointing out that Wackd had used the word ‘disguising’ instead of ‘disgusting’ – an autocomplete error I’m thinking.
15 years from now – no, 10 years hence, there will be a main character in a Disney movie who is a furry. Watch and see.
Wait, what? I did?
Oh, god. Now those comments make sense. Damn. How did I not catch that?
I too, aspire to be incredibly unthreatening.
Because been seen as manly instead is more Joe’s department.
Joe’s got the manliest FAAAAACE!
For some reason, this sounds exactly like something Faz would say. Especially in this context.
I’m not sure if that was a nice thing you just said or not. ^_^
I’m going with not.
And yet the statement is still incredibly accurate.
Frighteningly accurate.
I can practically hear his genitals retract into his body as it begins to sink in that option number two is the more likely answer.
Wow. I have a new number one thing that I never want to hear.
Thank you.
The real question is even if you heard it happening, would you recognize the sound for what it is? hmmmm?
The sound is “fluuppp.” Never ask how I know this.
I have dealings with /b/ in the past, watched Lemon Party, 2 Girls 1 Cup and Pain Olympics, so I think I can handle the truth dude(tte).
This does not happen 🙁
It does sometimes, if you’re not one of those guys Danny is blocking from sitting there
If anything, my problem is that I try so hard -not- to be that I tend to never come on at all.
Danny is the unflavored ice milk of characters.
Careful, that stuff is so lethal it could TOTALLY kill an American President who once ate his own boots on a military campaign.
…But only if you combine it with cherries, apparently.
Just be happy that she wants your BUTT Danny.
And not your FAAAAACCCCEEEEE for a nickel.
What? Too soon?
It’s never too soon for that, at least according to MIKE.
I’m starting to think that DoA Amber is even more adorable than Shortpacked! Amber.
Yeah, that would be my reaction in that situation too…
So adorable. The last panel… <3
^o^
*phew* Close one!
^^;; I…I don’t know why, but…I just don’t like the idea of Danny x Amber… s: I can’t explain it. Maybe I like Amber too much to have her get into a fight with Dorothy or Joyce? s:
I don’t think Joyce has any interest in DoA Danny and Dorothy might say “Thank God! Take him!”
s: But what if thats NOT the case?
We weren’t told how they GOT TOGETHER, what if something happens and Dorothy needs someone and that someone, to her, should be Danny?
What if Joyce meets Danny again and this time gets to know him and life him? Especially AFTER leaning about Ethan? D///x;;
iono, I just…I got a bad eeling about this…
**how Danny and Dorothy
**like not “life”
**Learning not “leaning”
**Feeling not “eeling”
SEE?! SEE?! This whole thing is making me bite my nails off in nervousness!
Oddly, I like the idea of DOA Joyce/Danny, as they seem to have a lot of parallel moments and similar ideals, but I also like DOA Amber/Danny, they seem to be a cute couple.
I totally would ship DOA Joyce/Danny cause you’re right, similar ideals.
I… don’t think you have anything to worry about, considering Danny and Joyce haven’t even talked to each other. :/
And, uh, Dorothy just broke up with him. And is more likely to go for Walky, the way it’s headed.
so calm down
“I don’t bite … hard.”
That or she’s afraid he’ll end up being gay too.
Smooth, Danny, smooth.
Hey that was cute!
Awwww. Super-cute geek romances! The bane of our lonely, anti-social hearts.
OH THE LONELINESS! AAAARRRG!
Good to see Amber can at least tolerate him, but yeah… coming off kind of weak and non-threatening is lame.
…and assures that Danny’s virginity will remain perfectly safe for quite some time.
His BUTT could be a different story…
What about his butt’s vir- y’know what, it’s just too easy.
*beat* and that’s why it won’t last.
I feel as if someone just triple word scored off my double word score…off of something.
Scrabble, babies!
Any one notice the creeper sitting behind them? Looks like sin city’s kevin* is amazigirls new stalker.

Danny, THOUGHT BALLOONS. Look into purchasing some as soon as possible.
On a student’s budget? Are you CRAZY?!
Seriously. Thought bubbles are freakin’ expensive.
Loeb style captions then. Those you can (must) buy in bulk.
Looks like Amber’s texting in that last panel. Probably to Mike. And Mike will be pummeling Danny in the next strip, lol.
Incredibly unthreatening might sum up my life’s dating strategy in two words. And ‘super effective’ probably wouldn’t sum the results up well 🙂
yey Go Danny Go
Amber’s got a smile going on in the last panel. Danny boy just might get to have his cake and eat it too.
Way to set the bar high, Danno.
Callin’ you “Danno” in the comments again.
Looks like Amber reads Shortpacked!. Or at least watches BW.
Damned if I haven’t had Danny’s exact reaction in panel four so many times. The answer is Incredibly unthreatening though. I know that now.
*sigh*, welcome to my life… it’s almost always the latter.
And with that statement, you become a little of both! D’aww
I want to say something about the effectiveness of Dannys approach to flirting, but I already used me Pokemon joke in the last strip, so I have got nothing.
Ha, I new the next comic would have something to do with how nonthreatening he is. XD
I love AmberxMike but I think AmberxDanny is my new fave.
Amber/Mike SP! and Amber/Danny in DOA. Solution y/n?
Which makes shipper for both sides happy so ima say yes
As somebody who’s been both creepy and extremely nonthreatening depending on the kindness of the girl and just how stupid I was acting around them, I can tell you that they both suck.
“You are flirting! Flitterer!”
Oh Batman Brave and the Bold… I how love it.
FLITTERERS!
As someone who has frequently been in Amber’s position, incredibly unthreatening IS desirable. My boyfriend talks about my thing for engineers like it’s some rare goldmine, but a guy who can do math, hold up his end of the conversation, and be unthreatening is like jackpot.
That Amber is a flatterer. “I just wanted someone who will not bother me, and you’ll do.”
Why hasn’t Amber upgraded to the 3DS?
I was going to ask if that was a DSi … but I believe that to be a cell phone.
That’s a phone.
Mostly harmless!?
YAY A RELATIONSHIP IS possibly WORKING!
I suddenly feel proud to have my gravatar. Nice job Amber, I’ve never really liked you too much, but maybe that’ll change.
Is it bad I can relate to the situation today?
A little ways up, someone brought up Genderswapped Joyce…and now I just realized that Male Joyce resembles Danny Pretty strongly.
Which made me think of Joyce on Amber Action. Which would horrify both participants…Someone needs to make this happen.
‘Horrify’? Only if both or one of the two parties are sober.
Awwwww, geek mating rituals, how cute.
Both DO make excellent qualities in a partner.
Sal agrees with the later.
Incredibly NONthreatening is a pretty sweet superpower, imo.
That’s right Danny hang on to that silver lining!
