TODAY –aka NOW — there’s a new Slipshine comic from me, wherein two characters do sexings to each other! Hey, remember when Danny told Dorothy he and Amazi-Girl once did it upside-down from a grappling hook? Apparently most of you do, ‘cuz I kept on getting all these … requests. (from both outside and inside my home) So, well, here we go.
This grope on a rope is a very NSFW seventeen pages. Subscription up!
Remember, there are now EIGHT of these things! Subscribing gets you access to all of ’em.
Amber is only seeing bad things with these new glasses, huh
maybe she should check out SLIPSHINE

It is now
Here’s your internet. You win already.
“Can I use your bathroom? I need to refresh myself.”
Works a lot like 30 Rock’s take on “Googling”.
still not done yet
okay, I’m finished
So that took approximately an hour. Choice or necessity?
well, given I was reading Titty Time until about 1 when I finally saw the Pornographique go live, necessity?
Oh is that what they’re calling it now?
Excuse me, I have to go look up how to map the refresh function to the F4 key now.

You know, when there’s three characters in the same place, and the most reasonable and level-headed of them is *Sal*, there’s probably going to be some fireworks real soon.
I was gonna say Danny is reasonable and level-headed, but then I realized I was defending Danny
;D
Danny isn’t that crazy, I mean sure he’s dating a masked avenger, but I would too if given the option!
Shit, who wouldn’t?
Not me. Wayyyy too much “excitement” and worry, also high-maintenance.
Really, really high maintenance.
Hey, some people like high-maintenance. Some people are ‘maintainers’. We – er, I mean, some people like to feel useful.
Seriously. If you think having to cope with your girlfriend or wife when she is on her period is bad, try hanging around superman after he’s been exposed to red kryptonite. And no that’s not some vague innuendo or a euphemism for vaginal bleeding….
@robert Can Superman have sex with earth people? I mean, yeah, he’s supposed to but I don’t see it somehow. His urges must be off the scale if you know what I mean.
@Willoughby Larry Niven has answered this question in
Blargh, my link got eaten. In great detail: http://www.rawbw.com/~svw/superman.html
I hope that at some point Danny does something completely awesome because of his dating Amber
Joyce: Danny! Where did you learn to swing down, and fight Becky’s dad in hand to hand combat on top of a driverless out of control bus?
Danny: you’d be surprised what you pick up being around my girlfriend.
Wait, I got it the most awesome thing Danny could do that’s actually possible and fits within the narrative (sort of)
Ruth is in a car about to be hit by a truck, Danny ties A bungee cord around his ankles, leaps down, and grabs her through the sun roof just before everything goes to hell.
It would be so meta!
I know, that feels so weird? At least he’s not the cause of anyone’s death.
Sal hasn’t come across to me as unreasonable to me in this strip. Well, having sex with the TA was kind of awful, but in her dealings with these three characters, she’s definitely come across as the level-headed one.
As I’ve said before, Sal is in fact one of the most reasonable characters in the strip. She had to grow up faster than a lot of the others (-especially- Walky), and because of that, she knows a fair bit more about how life is out there than they do. She knows that cops aren’t heroes, she knows exactly what everyday racism really means, and a fair few other things besides that are sad, but unfortunately necessary lessons*.
True, she does have her weak points, such as striving to appear as if she doesn’t care about other people, when really she does. Just like Carla, she’s maintaining that shell in the hopes of how she might not get hurt that way. But she still slips up and find herself caring about people anyway.
*Said in the hopes that one day, they won’t be.
So Willis gives us the highest and lowest moments of the relationship simultaneously. One might say their relationship is reaching its climax.
Amber and Danny haven’t even gotten around to discuss Danny’s attraction toward Ethan yet, and they already have this to worry about. There’s no break for these two, is there? I still think Danny is probably a better person for Amber than Mike because Danny is actually making an effort to look out for Amber/Amazigirl’s well-being, even if his decisions are not going to guarantee the most positive outcome.
I mean…which Mike? The only place where that is even relevant is another universe, and Mike literally saved her life there.
I think the problem with ever getting that conversation is that Danny needs to be at a point where he can trust her with what he views as a massive drama bomb, and right now he’s too worried for her to lean on her for support.
I dunno, I do think he’ll tell her before any hypothetical break up were to occur. At least, I’d really like to see that.
Uh oh.
I’m totally hearing that siren sounding Kill Bill music right now.
This one, in case no one knows what the hell I’m blathering about.
That’s where that sound is from!
It’s actually excepted from a Quincy Jones song. Dunno why Tarantino didn’t throw the whole track into the movie/soundtrack; it certainly fits the tone.
The sound is from the opening theme of an American TV show called Ironside. The music link above identifies it. It was a cop show, and it was supposed to evoke police sirens. Also appropriate for both the movie and for what Amber may be experiencing.

Good theme.
Psycho violins also seem apropos.
No, this is dramatic tension, violins comes later. The sax comes with a subscription.
Great now you got it in my head u.u

Amber’s gonna pull a major TILT in 3…2…
Willis, you sonuva
And now the fun starts!
With “friends” like these…
Unwarranted “Friends” theme time?

On moral grounds I refuse to acknowledge the alleged existance of Must See Tee Vee.
The song that was in the back of my mind on reading this was Three Dog Night’s “Easy To Be Hard”.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DYdc6-vUcsI
Good choice.
I don’t know what Vagabundle J is thinking about. This “American Television”.
… That is not a good version of that song. I like Three Dog Night, but…yeah, not good. Can’t find the original show’s OCR, but here’s the 2009‘s version, which isn’t bad. (The movie’s is weak in much the same way as 3DN’s.)
A stand-off?

Hoo boy.
Sal needs a friend.
Sal needs to stop detaching herself emotionally. And also a friend
I volunteer.
Sal is afraid of emotional attachment and would probably reject you in fear of becoming your project.
Welp someone’s getting coffin’d by the end of this.
(I kid, I kid, we need to leave room for superhero sexytimes.)
Make it a big coffin then; Amber and Danny can get off with limited space.
I am curious to see what wonder bread will say
Anyone else hearing the alert sound from MGS?
It took me a minute to realize that Panel 4 is some sort of view through Amber’s glasses, and not some type of alien :).
But are we sure Amber isn’t some sort of alien?
That’s how her glasses can fit inside her glasses case.
Oh no, my link:
Next time, let me actually read the format the sanitizer wants a link <a> tag in.
Close enough :/
Helpful Hint: Closing tags require a / before the tagword.
I had assumed that it was normal html open/closing tags (e.g <a></a>) at first, but it didn’t end up working the first time, probably due to some other typo I made. That lead me to believe that the sanitzer didn’t want a closing tag for some reason, which was also incorrect :/.
Computers: they do exactly what you tell them and nothing else, even when you meant something else. Very annoying sometimes.
Since your first post showed up as an otherwise well-formed “a” tag, I assume you spelled “href” wrong.
Sooner or later Sal is going to figure out that Amber is Amazi-girl. The Universe is just dropping too many hits.
Depending as to her ability of verbal social cues, Danny’s pregnant pause there could tip her off.
*of understanding
Well that was just weird.
I just can’t wait for Amber/Amazi-Girl to FINALLY bring up the subject of the robbery, just to know what Sal will say to that. I had some hope right at the end of the Toedad incident, but the story didn’t go there.
I kinda wished it happened there too, but in hindsight it was probably for the bettr to give Sal, for lack of a better term, a clear win over Amazi-Girl. This way her talking to Danny to try and stop Amazi-Girl becomes Sal relating to her through past experiences and trying to help through sincere gratitude, and less because she had a part in it.
I think it’d be hilarious if she instantly recognizes her as Amazi-girl tomorrow or something. Hilarious and kind of terrible, given whatever Amber’s reaction will be.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS. GET HYPE FOR CONFLICT.
inb4 cut to Joyce
It’s what we all want, but at the same time, it’s the last thing we need in this world
Hey Wonderbread, it’s your arch-nemesis/frienemy/possible love-interest? Young Nasty Sal.
With powers comparable to those of Wonderbread’s?
??
a) Oh no, Amber has full vision back just in time to see her arch-nemesis and her boyfriend talking to each other. Oh boy. I see red panels in the future!
b) I really appreciate the musical theater reference in the alt text, a+++. But I’ll definitely have that song stuck in my head now as well (until it’s replaced by the GoT theme, which I’m about to watch now lol).
I’m not getting the reference. Help?
Are dots connecting yet? Or are those glasses seeing into the Walkyverse?
Its going down for real. Its like a high school reunion, only with less free food and more drama and violence
True, but the difference isn’t all that significant.
So college reunion?
I’d say “of course she recognizes her immediately, as Dina did,” but if she could do that she’d recognize her as the girl who stabbed her.
Dina is the only one immune to the power of Amazi-Girl’s mask.
Unlike most people, Sal does have some significant context that could allow her to link that Amber is Amazi-Girl.
Danny’s sitting around waiting to have an important conversation with Amazi-Girl, and then Amber shows up.
Amber is inevitably going to freak out, and Sal’s going to ask why these two completely unrelated people with similar builds keep reacting like that to her.
The stabbing is probably something Amber will have to reveal herself, though.
Amber has been running from Sal for a while already
To be fair, the stabbing of her hand doesn’t seem to have been something that Sal took to memory NEARLY as vividly as Amber did. Which is why she has likely not reacted when she’s seen her. Either she simply doesn’t remember, doesn’t care in the grand scheme of things, or both.
Or she might only remember it partially. Like, she remembers the robberies were a thing obviously, so she might remember the stabbing was a thing… but not precisely who was there. Since her focus was on getting her parents attention, not actually hurting anyone.
This whole thing is assuming Sal ever actually got a good look at Amber. Given the fact she was being arrested at the time, and Amber was immediately pulled away by a cop(?), it seems likely that even immediately afterward, she probably wouldn’t have been able to pick the Crazy White Chick out of a lineup.
I like the penultimate panel a lottttt.
Danny still isn’t very good at the whole secret identity thing, is he?
Take it away, Mr. Nash!
I can see clearly now with glasses new
I can see my nemesis in my way
My alter-ego’s boyfriend is hanging out with her
It’s gonna be a red (red)
red (red) red-panel day
Oh, yes I thought I could make it now that Blaine is gone
All of the bad feelings had disappeared.
Here is that girl I’ve been trying to avoid
It’s gonna be a red (red)
red (red) red-panel day.
As a glasses-wearer I can confirm, that’s how they work
Finally, now I can relax!
A bit too late for Sal to fade away.
Amber is now going to be focusing on Sal, Danny will kiss her as usual to get her mind off it (being whatever it is that Danny doesn’t want to face).
And there goes the conversation.
He is not dating amber
I’m hoping the shoe finally drops this time around. This same one-sided mess repeating is getting a little old.
Well, keep in mind that in their few interactions since Amber first recognized Sal, not much time actually elapsed in-Dumbiverse.
There was the intial time, when she ran into Danny and Sal outside the cafeteria.
Then there was the time outside the elevator, where Sal barely even noticed her.
Finally, there was the time in the hallway, where Sal again wasn’t paying much attention to Amber directly.
While she has seen Amazi-Girl a few more times than that, it took Danny way longer to figure it out – though some of that was just him being pretty unobservant.
I doubt that Sal will recognize Amber as Amazi-Girl this time, without some more direct evidence from Danny or Amber.
There was also the time where Sal saved Amber’s life, then said some pretty deep yet ironic shit.
Yeah, it’s gonna go up right here.
I was expecting colored irises to come with Amber’s new glasses.
Hey, new glasses are expensive enough without all those fancy extras.
Right, not everyone has a high-paying dorm advisor salary like Ruth does.
AMBER VISION
And here. We. Go.
I hope so, anyway. This has been going on for a while. (Yes yes realtime vs. in-universe time don’t care a while.)
*Read in Joker Voice*
I’m sure this will go well. Amazi-girl will handle this situation with aplomb and won’t lose her head at all. They’ll simply have a perfectly ordinary conversation where Amazi-girl won’t be flipping out over the existence of Sal. Definitely. Nothing to worry about here.
Well, she’s Amber atm, not Amazi-Girl…yeah, that doesn’t really make things better at all.
…given that AMBER was the one that stabbed Sal’s hand and the one who has panic attacks triggered by Sal, yeah, I’m pretty sure that makes nothing better at all.
Hey, I thought I was the one who was supposed to have misguided hope.
Flipping out over Sal? No. Flipping over Sal? Maybe.
As for it being Amber vs Amazigirl at the moment… the distinction kinda breaks down around Sal anyway, so I don’t think it matters.
Hmm – the upcoming chapter is titled “It All Returns”. I’m predicting that it’s referring to Sal finally remembering that it was Amber who stabbed her.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Finally!
I’m really annoyed Sal hasn’t broken Amazi-Girl’s back yet, leading to her replacement by Billie until Billie proves to be too much of a psychopath and the real Amazi-Girl defeats her.
Who cares if she’s psychotic? I mean, have you seen the armored Amazi-Girl suit? Billie should get to stay Amazi-Girl for that alone.
It’s a good thing Danny happens to have psychic spine healing powers that will destroy his mind.
(this is actually how that story was resolved)
It actually took me a moment to realize last panel was Amber and not Billie, just based off body-shapes.
Well that was a wonderful Bane Batman, that one french guy reference.
Oh. Shit.
Here comes the drama.
(damn it Robin)
*KILL BILL SIREN*

“Here’s where Amber goes berserk.”
I don’t get it, what bad is happening
Ethan and Amber were at one of the convince stores Sal robbed in middle school. She held Ethan hostage.
Amber had a panic attack.
Amber’s dad bullied her over freaking out because all Sal had was a knife
Amber went red and stabbed Sal.
This is a large part of ‘AmaziGirl Begins’
An AmaziGirl Issue 0, if you will.
It just occurred to me: Does Ethan recognize Sal?
No. When they saw each other at Joyce’s dorm party, he thought she looked familiar, but that may or may not have been because Walky is her twin (and was shrugged off as such- in any case, he didn’t know where he knew her from). He does know ‘the convenience store robber’ goes to the school iirc, I think Amber told him.
Ethan kinda recognized Sal – she looked VERY familiar to him, but he quickly reasoned that it was her resemblance to Walky that was triggering that.
I mean, I knew her past with Sal. I just don’t see how seeing her on campus talking to people she knows is an event that would trigger something extreme? Amber must realize Sal goes there and will be talking to various peopel around campus. Does she not want Sal talking to any of her friends, or did she overhear “amazigirl” and is worried that Sal knows?
Seeing Sal at ALL, at any place, alone or with anyone else, is a trigger for some flavor of PTSD or similar issue related to the convenience store. So far she’s had a near-catatonia panic attack, a run-away hyperventilating panic-attack, and a momentarily-forget-which-alternate-she-is panic moment. The only time she’s kept her shit together was as Amazigirl, in the parking lot, where she planned ahead of time to confront Sal and it didn’t take her by surprise.
Ah ok I get it, thanks. It’s not that Sal/Danny is doing anything bad thats new, it’s just that the old bad thing still bothers Amber
I was wrong, it seems Amber is mad that Danny is talking to Sal
Still trying to wrap my head around the girl that jumps motorcycles and catches people in midair saying what Amazigirlmdoes is unrealistic.
With this and Ruth’s deaths in Roomies, I am guessing DW is not much of a driver.
Sal didn’t say what Amazi-Girl did was unrealistic, she said it was unsafe – which it most certainly was, as was that motorcycle rescue. Also, Willis himself admitted physics would be bruised for the sake of the story and the “no one dies” ultimatum. And he drew Roomies! when he was younger and less experienced.

This was meant to be a reply to an above comment. I c/ped it to where I wanted it, if it’s not too much trouble, could someone delete this copy?
Nice avatar.
Oboy Oboy Oboy it’s slipshine day! I can’t wait to see Danny and Amaziegirl doing sexytimes… Oh, hey Sal and Amber. Um… This will be very traumatic and triggering.
…I kinda feel like Danny right now.
Slipshine spoiler:
Smoooooth, Danny.
Aw fuck. We knew this was coming but fuck.
Possible that could happen:
1. Amber saw Sal and will start running. Danny sees her and goes after her.
2. She freezes in fear and Danny goes to check on her.
3. Panels go Red, she yells at Danny, then runs off?
How about 3, Danny comes around the corner after her and she mistakenly clocks him in blind, feral rage/panic? Double-ironic because of unfuzzifying glasses?
So she pulls a Hank Pym?
4. Everybody starts talking in shapes as Amber flashes back to tne convenience store robbery again
Amber thinks Sal is once again going to hurt someone she loves, goes full feral to ‘save’ Danny, and that’s what triggers the memory of the convenience store for Sal and lets her connect the dots.
I am confidently expecting at least one strip of a desperate Amber trying to convince Danny that Sal is sort of The Devil’s Own Child.
Good thing Amber doesn’t date Danny, that could have been awkward.
i laughed, +1
Oh, so that’s how it looks when you wear glasses. :3
I’ve worn goggles like that.
Wait, I don’t understand. What is Sal possibly right about in this case? Did Sal also give Danny advice on his bisexuality…?
She told Danny that he needs to stop enabling his girlfriend’s Amazi-Girl schtick, pointing out (rightly) that it was rooted in, and fed off, her emotional instability and would sooner or later get someone – whether it was Amber herself or a bystander – seriously hurt or killed.
This (and the following strip) is what Wendy has described!
Uh-oh, “the following strip” did actually follow some days later, i mean this one.
About how Danny needs to stop idolising and enabling Amber’s persona.
She needs to stop for her own safety because she almost died last time.
Unfortunately Danny is torn between denial and actual reality apparently.
I dunno, I kinda think he’s just scared about confronting Amber (dude barely knows how to stand up for himself, you think he’s going to be able to stand up to someone for them?) and he’s trying to find a way around it.
Right now, Amber just looks nonplussed, not like she’s already fraking out. Do these glasses also make reality clearer that is in the interpretation of what she sees?
Soundtrack https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Ovg0IA_QFC0 ?
*Cue The Good, The Bad & The Ugly soundbite*
My first thought when I finished reading this strip was, “Ohhh no, oh no, oh no, oh no…”
My second thought was that the glasses-shaped panels look really cool.
And then all my subsequent thoughts were just “oh no” again.
Also, a lot of people* seem to think Sal spends all her time doing neat tricks when her idea of being cool looks to me more like Calvin’s.**
(*ok, so two people is not a lot, but they were the two people she talked to within five minutes of each other, so)
(**Except for when she saved someone by catching them in mid-air on a motorcycle in front of a speeding truck I guess. There is that.)
Iwanttobelieve.jpg that Willis liked my grope on a rope title suggestion and took it further and better instead of it being like the easiest conclusion anyone could have reached
I have a dark, dark premonition about this coming conversation. I have a feeling that Danny is going to inadvertently say something that confirms all of Amber’s worst delusions about her own self-worth. The consequence may be that all of her dark fears about her potential for harm may be fulfilled.
It’s about damn time.
Yeah, I’m really hoping this provides some significant advancement in Amber’s story.
The Amazi-Girl stuff has really just run its course IMO and I’d really just like to see that whole thing wrapped up.
Yeah, the fun Amazi-Girl stuff at the beginning was really good, and the darker material since the Blaine and Sal stuff where it’s been used as a symbol of her dissociation is also really good, but I would like for things to start happening, and seeing Danny, Amber and Sal all in the same space, I think, is a guarantee that things are getting into gear.
It’s my hope we can finally get rid of Amber for good and have Amazi-Girl full time.
Amber should reveal has plans against One Punch Man. He totally took her look.
*fetches tin helmet, hides in bunker*
“Completely Unrelated Friend” sounds like a They Might Be Giants song.
Someone really needs to coach Danny on how to protect secret identities. If Sal was looking for clues as to Amazi-Girl’s identity (and she isn’t, AFAIK), Danny’s indirect phrasing would have basically pointed a flashing red arrow at Amber.
The tree shadow (almost) acts as such!
Well she wasn’t supposed to still be there when Amber showed up.
Cool, we get Sal vs Amber showdown… more like Tiger vs Bunny, but hey… Still, I wonder if Amazigirl will “activate” without the usual procedures.
Hey, rabbits can be vicious little rodents, with big nasty teeth.
Rabbits aren’t rodents. They have nasty teeth, but not the ever-growing incisors rodents have. Rabbits and Hares are both “Lagomorphs”, literally “Rabbit forms”.
This message brought to you by Pedants for the Educated Treatment of Animal Classification.
Lagomorphs also have continuously growing teeth. (There’s a bunch of differences in their teeth – lagomorphs have more of them, for a start – but both groups have that quality in common.)
Huh. Looks like I got to brush up on my pedantry. Thanks for the info.
Many years ago, a zoologist title a paper What, if anything, is a rabbit?, because of the problems with classifying rabbits.
Many years later, this prompted a response of Rabbits, if anything, are likely Glires (where G
…odammit.
(Where Glires is the superorder of rodents+lagomorpha)
For a second a wondered if you were talking about the anime
I’m fairly sure Sal isn’t remotely a good fighter. Amazi-Girl is.
I wasn’t even thinking of that “Annie” but now I am. DAMN YOU, WILLIS!
I’m guessing Danny is just jittery over his upcoming talk and would rather believe that everything is still fine and dandy, but it’s weird to see him get confrontational at the person who saved his girlfriend’s life.
Fourth panel is completely accurate, I cant see shit without looking directly through the lenses.
Present in this comic:
Danny
Sal
Amber
Amazie-girl?
Danny’s Rotten Luck, which by this point almost is a character in it’s own right.
We need Ethan to appear from the other side
Nan, AmaziGirl wasn’t in the tag cloud.
Given Amber is gonna put on the costume soon, I am pretty sure this scene is *not* gonna end well.
I’m worried that Amber will go berserk from the juxtaposition of Danny with Sal.
We will see another rendition of “Conceal, Dont feel….Put on the Maaaaaaaask”.
“‘Let’s Go to the Movies?’ ‘You’re Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile?’ ‘Consider Yourself?’ No, that’s from ‘Oliver.’ Ohhh, ‘Maybe!’ *facepalm*”
But “Consider Yourself” won and now it’s my earworm for the day.
The Good: Amber finally gets her new glasses
The Bad: She sees the one person she trusts talking to the one person who triggers her anxiety attacks.
My guess: She runs away.
Oh, look who’s Danning it up now. (Still Danny)
This is less Danning and more the universe actively conspiring against him.
Really, in DoA “Danning it up” basically has come to mean “Circumstances conspiring against Danny despite his best intentions and efforts.”
To be fair, only Danny could ever accidentally befriend his girlfriend’s PTSD trigger.
Well that’s technically true, in so far as Danny is the only DOA character who has a girlfriend who has a PTSD trigger which is a person.
For a brief period, Ethan was as well!
And he’s done it twice.
Finally gotten to this confrontation huh ? Good.
I LOVE the visuals with the glasses. Very dramatic!
Hey Sal if you want to start getting on with people you could try calling Danny by his given name and not the faintly derogative nic-name you’ve made up for someone that’s only ever helped you and been nice to you
The last panel’s shadow looks kinda weird. Is there a trunk less tree floating on the left?
Yeah, that is a little wonky. At first I’d say that the sun is shining left-to-right, but that means that the tree behind is missing its trunk.
But then if you look at Sal’s shadow in panel one, and Danny’s shadow as well as the shadow of the handrails on the steps, they are more-or-less directly beneath the object casting the shadow, which means that the sun is directly overhead. So what you’re seeing in the last panel are the partial shadows of two trees positioned just off-panel; the shadow of the trunk is masked by the shadow of the canopy (the spread of the branches and leaves).
Placing bets that he cuts to another crew tomorrow.
A new Slipshine. Cue fiften billion “woo hoos”, and seven very vocal and anoying “but daaaavid i don’t want to pay for porn post it free”.
But mostly woo hoo.
There’s plenty of other places just giving it away. But this here? It’s artisanal. Top-shelf. Premium grade. Look, he doesn’t have a day job ok? He has multiple tiny mouths to feed.
