Oh god, I found this comic through the fanart magnoliapearl [http://magnoliapearl.tumblr.com/] just did and IT’S ALREADY WORTH IT.
I felt like i had to stop reading and post this right now so you know how soon i fell for it.
what is equally funny is moving back into to dorms SIX YEARS after the first time you lived there and going. Wait you guys get x standard when I was in dorms… oh wait I’m only six years older
My first year in college I studied programming in ForTran and BASIC. The internet was only a sci-fi concept in 1984. We didn’t even have dorms, I had to live at home and drive 20 mines to classes.
Only if you consider his usage here to be taking the Lord’s name in vain. Many only classify saying “god dammit” as such. Others will tell you it depends on context. What taking His name in vain means is a subject of conversation and there is no white or black to it. It’s never spelled out.
Her dad totally looks like the creepy smiling guy from your Stan Bush music video parody (RAPPITY)
Holy crap you’re right…Holger totally looks like Joyce’s dad
Wow. I need to remember that “invent the internet” line. Classic and gold!
LOL! So do I! Totally classic. I had to read that again and again to see if it was actually saying that!
Agreed – that line is beautiful.
In 1987 we had the internet at uni, but yeah if you were living on campus you had to cross a highway and enrol in either CS or Eng’g or Psych.
That’s exactly how I felt moving my daughter to college.
yay interesting new Comic
Is her Dad wearing and Indiana University shirt? I recognize the mighty Trident of Semi-Doom.
Those leany-back chairs are awesome! I still almost fell backwards a few times in freshman year though.
Yeah, its an IU shirt. BOO. lol, Boiler up. But I’m near Bloomington IN right now actualy… internship @ cummins
I would have thought that back when he was in college, the Internet would be strictly for science nerds and computer geeks.
I have come to hate this piece of human slime.

Haha, this is awesome, ‘when I was your age, we had to invent the Internet’. I’m gonna tell my kids that.

Whoa, the present storyline has everyone freaked out about meeting characters’ parents and it turns out we already met Joyce’s. A victory for ADD!
I’m doing a reread and I think I picked a perfect time. it’s fun looking at the three year style change on Joyce and her dad.
Don’t Christians have rules about using God’s name as an interjection?
test

Silly question buut are protestants allowed to use the Lord’s name in vain? Joycedad does it tice right in his first appearance.
Hit me with your knowledge, oh mouth of truthfulness!

That’s probably how Al Gore did it…
And her dad was so likable here, too.
It’s nice to go back and reread great comics isn’t i–OH GO WAS THE ART ALWAYS LIKE THIS.
(every webcomic ever)
And it was also uphill both wyas in the snow you had to walk in order to invent your interwebs.
