Yikes!
Anyway, if you thought yesterday’s strip was dearly missing a, say, vertical component, you can check out some NSFW art on my Tumblr.
There’s also a censored version that leads to that same uncensored version, if you’d like to baby-step yourself into some Walky Wang.
Sarah’s gonna have to swak a bongo.
Or at least a lunch tray.
Is Sarah Clinton going to have to choke a bongo?
She can do it any way since Billie has rich parents, so she can afford the reconstructive surgery.
Oh, it’s ON!
Place your bets for the fight of the century!
Sarah wins it in one round.
You really think it will last that long? Billie will be out before the bell finishes ringing.
Joe’s betting they both confess their love for eachother and make out
Does that ever work?
It only needs to work once.
I think there’s a rule in comics that roughly equates breast size with power level, so my bet’s on Billie.
Wooooooooooo!
No, see for women your clothes are your hitpoints. Billy is wearing less clothes so the smart money’s on Sarah.
Nono, its the less clothes, the more hp. Have you never seen a fighting game?
No, skimpy outfits definitely provide less HP unless they’re made of tough materials, because they get ruined more easily.
No, that’s the reason they give you MORE HP. Obviously, the revealing of skin is what gives you power, if you’re female. Covering up your skin with as much insanely heavy armor as possible is what makes you more powerful as a male. Duh.
It all depends on WHAT your wearing. Take Cassandra Cain for instance, she knows how to capitalize on the bonus to your attack for wearing leather.
It is harder to move silently with clothes. The less I wear, the harder I am to see. Billy sneaks behind Sarah for a sneak attack and wins in second round. She would win the first round if she went invisible. Joe approves. The abused tray turns to a life of crime.
She wears clothes over her eyeballs!
Sarah wins with an epic piledriver
My money’s on Billie. Sarah doesn’t have her bat.
“I’m the friggin’ batman!” – Sarah the Scout
She’s wearing underpants, isn’t she? She has her bat.
That tray could’ve been Billie’s face.
Billie went straight past checking herself directly into wrecking herself.
Good thing for Billie’s FAAAAAAAAACE that it was in fact a TRAAAAAAAAAAAAY and not her FAAAAAAAAAAAACE.
Even worse: Sarah could have drawn Billie’s F. on the T. and then hit her in the F. with it. A FAAAAAAAAACETRAAAAAAAAAAAAAY TRAAAAAAAAAAAYFAAAAAAAAAACE!
Sarah’s a monster for swaking away that piece of cake. D’X
Oh Billie has a LOT to learn
Yeah, I’m guessing she never really learned about “if you don’t have anything nice to say” or “provoking aggressive people with the things that they feel insecure about” or “self-preservation.”
There’s gotta be some figure of speech somewhere in the world that describes this kind of behavior. Probably involves poking a badger or booting a wolverine or calling a cobra short or shouting “Nana nana booboo” to a moose. Something to that effect.
Im pretty sure the germans have a word for it.
The Germans have always been a comforting people.
Poking the bear.
The SAT word for it is “instigating”, but that’s hardly a figure of speech.
That is exactly what I was thinking of. Thank you.
TVTropes would call it Bullying a Dragon.
I call it “darwinating.”
I call it “fun, in a ‘poke-the-the-bear-poke-the-bear-poke-the-bear RUN!’ sort of way.”
First doesn’t really apply. Saying “you don’t like people” is kind of an observation, which Sarah is proving by smacking the tray upside its… head?
The second is valid. No wonder she’s only got crappy assignments for the paper. This is our hard hitting journalist, everyone?
The last? We’ll see after Billie runs or not.
Stay classy, Billie! Stay classy…
“Oh Billie has a LOT to learn”
About being completely correct? No she seems to have that down pretty well.
The conclusion is correct, it’s the premises that are flawed.
Would you suggest there was a better solution for Dana, at least? Dana’s friends didn’t believe Sarah and Dana clearly wasn’t going to get the help she needed on her own. The only other people Sarah could have gone to was the school, and something tells me that would have ended worse for Dana than this.
Would you suggest there was a better solution for Dana, at least?
We don’t even know there was a problem for Dana.
We know that Sarah’s grades tanked, and that Sarah didn’t like Dana smoking weed, and that Sarah decided that Sarah’s problems with studying trumped Dana deserving to have any input into how Dana dealt with her mother’s death.
I’d like to note that Sarah never suggested getting Joyce’s parent’s involved Joyce was worried the Hospital and the police would get her parents involved Sarah’s solution to Joyce’s problem (Get to the doctor get to the police) was completely trying to do the best thing for her roommate it was never about getting rid of her.
…oh wow Walky wang D=
(on link, not in comic)
All I’m saying is, Walky s’posed to be half black….I may have been expecting more.
Think back to the interlude in It’s Walky!
We know that, in that universe, Walky wasn’t particularly well-endowed. Here, given how short people are, by and large, Walky’s proportions seem plenty impressive.
I have to disagree re: knowing Walky wasn’t well endowed. The only indication we have of Walky’s schlong size is that Joyce claims to have had a larger package so it was only based on her (sole) point of reference. She could have been “porn star huge” with Walky merely “impressive.”
He’s a grower, not a shower.
Indeed. Size when flaccid means nothing.
It’s like a dinosaur sponge.
My only comment on that drawing is that, when I was that age, if some girl I was romantically involved with was in my room and told me to take off my clothes; the weenus would be pointing north, so to speak.
The Richard avatar is making everything completely terrifying.
I actually feel sorry for the showers, they gotta lug around a six-inch (give or take) sausage casing all the time, while the growers have a neatly packed Vienna Sausage until it gets about time to implement.
Took me a moment to realize that there was a link
I thought you saw like a detatched walky wang in the comic somewhere for a moment.
Still not seeing that vertical component you were promising. And no, I’m not talking about the image being turned on its side.
Yeah, seriously. Here’s Walky, standing naked in front of someone whom he finds attractive, and who asked him to take off all his clothes. He seems strangely…disinterested, no?
An erection is an involuntary reflex. You can be horny out of your mind and be flacid or you can be completely asexual in thought and be hard. There is some connection to horny to erection but it is not absolute. Hell, Stephen Hawkins has no control over his muscles, but can still have sex with his wife. Weird trivia for the day.
Anyway, Walky was more shocked then anything I bet. Getting yelled at by Joyce and then being asked to strip by Dorothy. That’s emasculating if anything.
Not a surprising point of view from someone who claims her father is distant and only shows affection through bribery…
It is an amazing coincidence, though, that Sarah wanted to go to Joyce’s parents, and this is the same M.O. that got Dana sent home. Dana needed help, yes, and perhaps what Sarah did was right for Dana, but that she also pulled it on Joyce still early in the year…
I’m not going to call it fact yet. Once is a fluke, twice is a coincidence. Three times? Now it’s a conspiracy.
Actually, Sarah wanted to go to the police, who would have then likely gotten Joyce’s parents involved, hence Joyce refusing. Billie is twisting things.
Which actually would make a great response. “Well Excuse Me, Princess for wanting to get the police involved with the Rapist running around campus!”
Even if that actually applied here (doesn’t, because Sarah wanted to call the police, not inform Joyce’s parents, as noted by Mrelegos), this would still only be at the coincidence stage.
Furthermore, it assumes that Sarah wanted to send Dana home. I don’t think that’s the case. She wanted Dana to get help before she succeeded in wrecking her life completely, and screwing up Sarah’s in the process. You know, her scholarship? It doesn’t take more than a semester or two of bad grades to lose a scholarship entirely.
Actually, that’s a really good point re:scholarship. Billie is passably white, so from her ivory tower, she can’t see how screwed Sarah is if her grades drop enough [and they don’t have the policy my college had where retaking a class could REPLACE the prior grade [although more than one retake would average grades]].
Black people who fuck up are doomed. Racist, but unfortunate fact.
I really don’t see why it has to be a race issue. Of five visibly non-white cast members Sarah is the only one dealing with the scholarship issue. Walky, Sal, Roz, can all pretty much be assumed to be moving through college on their parents money and Dina is anyone’s guess but I wouldn’t want to assume. As you point out Billie herself is half asian.
Billie’s moving through school on her parents money, Sarah is not. Billie’s ivory tower holds up just fine without having to make her a poster child of white privilege or Sarah representative of larger social issues.
You’re entering a world of pain, Billie.
Shut the fuck up, Billie; you’re out of your element.
Well she certainly doesn’t like Billie.
Someone is getting a tray to the face and a fork to the knee off camera.
I used to tell arrow to the knee jokes, but then the fire nation attacked, and everything changed.
He’s dead, Jim.
And what did the fire nation ever do for us? Why, yes, they outlawed arrow to the knee jokes, but apart from that?
For that one fact, I’m willing to call them liberating heroes. All hail the fire nation!
I, for one, welcome our new fire nation overlords!
ALL HAIL FIRE LORD OZAI!
Gah you monsters just wait til the comet comes JUST WAIT
OH SIZZLE-SNAP
Is it about to get real up in here?
No…cuz it’s a comic.
It’s about to get painted up in here! (And no, I don’t care if it’s coloured either electronically or with pens/markers. The slang is now paint, just accept it.)
Uh, Billie, she did that out of concern. You want things go from bad to worse?
“You keep trying to help people; that means you hate them, right?”
“If I hate them, I’ll help them…….end their lives. MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!”
As if Billie wasn’t already far enough into the same mental file Sarah puts Raidah and the rest in…
Yeah, seriously. Joyce was only ALMOST R@PED… Billie either has no idea what she’s talking about, or she’s meaner than I took her to be.
Joyce was almost roped? Well, I suppose she does look a little like a calf.
Seriously, though, rape is not a bad word. Raping someone is a horrible, awful deed which no one should have to suffer and has no justification, but treating it like some swear word just gives rapists power. If you’ve ever been raped, stand up and tell someone about it. Don’t treat it like some private shame; make that bastard pay for what he did.
Or she. Let’s not be sexist here.
isn’t bastard a gender-neutral term? I mean children born illegitimate/ out of wedlock can be female. (me for example)
Er… I’m not treating it like a bad word. I’m just used to word-filters and censors on other websites is all.
I think Billie actually has a point here. Sarah’s actions aren’t altruistic here. What does she gain by calling these parents and getting rid of her roommates? Peace and quiet, a room to herself, a nest or cave to be sully in. Billie is a total idiot for HOW she’s broaching the subject, but if I had put 2 and 2 together, I’d be asking the same questions.
While not altruistic, they were not the wrong choice to make. Dana was destroying herself, and Sarah was the one stuck in the worst possible vantage point of that downward spiral. Billie doesn’t grasp the gravity of the Joyce situation because she was getting hammered at the time, and no one has really told her what went down… not that she ever actually asks. Billie is just being presumptuous as she has been this entire strip, and this time she’s put her foot so far into her mouth that she’s gargling the water on her knee.
I don’t agree. You’re forgetting that Sarah agreed not to call the police after Joyce insisted. If she was really only focused on “getting rid of the roomie”, she would have called anyway.
You’re also forgetting that Sarah wasn’t intending to go to that party. She came late because she thought Joyce might get into trouble because of her inexperience – which she did.
To be fair, if Joyce had listened to Billie, she wouldn’t have been in trouble. Then again, she also wouldn’t have been in trouble if she’d listened to Sarah. Is it just me or does Joyce have trouble listening to people?
I heard the Left 4 Dead Tank theme start up in the last panel.
more like ” you have disturbed the witch!”
thats not just any lunch. that is a friggin CAKE!
That lunch cake is a lie! I choose death.
I think Billie just startled the Witch. Is that a good joke?
Well, looks like I’ve been bested. The day is your, LordCanti45.
For us it was greatest day of our lives. For LordCanti45 it was Thursday.
Oh, Billie’s gonna get swakked SOOOOOOO HARRRRRRD.
…IN THE FAAAAAAAAAAACE.
With a femur
her own femur
Doesn’t she need those to live?
No.
Your mom needs those to live.
that her alternate universe counterpart’s gonna felt that swak.
Could it possibly swak her AU counterpart to California? I’m having a hard time coming up with a decent reason for Billie to attend the Amber/Mike surprise wedding Robin appears to be throwing.
Option 1: Danny is Joe’s friend. Billie and Danny are together. Joe somehow invites them both down to the wedding.
Option 2: Billie is Walky’s friend. Walky gets invited, then brings Billie and Danny along for reasons only Walky-logic can justify.
*SWAK: “Sealed With A Kiss”. Weirdest sound effect (considering the connotation and the characters) EVER. XD
Meanwhile, Walky’s swakking himself after his recent occurrences.
“I LIKE PEOPLE JUST FINE, YOU MOTHERF*CKING B*TCH!”
That’s sounded like an action movie one-liner, somehow.
HADOKEN!
GADOUKEN!
SWAKEN!
SHINING FINGER!
KKAAAAAAMMMMMEEEEEEEE HAAAAAMMMMEEEEEEE HHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
STONE SUNSHINE!
It’s called Stoner Sunshine or better yet, “STOOONER SUUUUUUNSHIIIIIIINE!

LOUD NOISES!!

ADRIAN!!
GIGA… SWAK… BREAKER!
Of course the kind thing to do would be to let Dana OD and die, or just live the rest of little life she had left in some crack house somewhere. Because at least she could stay in school.
That’s my snarky way of saying what passes for compassion among the “cool girls” is just sad and twisted.
…pretty sure you can’t OD on pot.
I think ShadowWing Tronix read one too many pamphlets about marijuana being a “gateway drug.”
I wasn’t sure what she was using because I don’t really follow the culture. But in my defense, yes it could lead to something stronger (for some people it has) and pot has some pretty bad side effects on its own.Either way Sarah was trying to help Dana, not “get rid of her” as Billie is trying to claim.
Of course, Billie has her own issues. Like the fist-shaped mark she’s about to receive.
You can OD on pot.
You can OD on water.
^That’s actually correct. You can OD on pretty much everything.
While this is true, the amount of the substance you need to consume to make this happen, it might as well be true you can’t OD on Pot.
OD on water: you mean drowning? (I know you don’t. I’m just being silly.)
Oh! I’m pretty sure you can’t OD on Vitamin C. The human body, once it has absorbed as much as it can take, expels the rest of it as wast. I suppose you can call that an OD, but not the deadly kind. (Well… silent but deadly?)
OD means overdose, meaning taking a dose higher than recommended, OD does not equal death. You can can OD on pot, pot OD has not been linked to any deaths.
That being said I seem to remember reading/hearing somewhere that pot smoking increases the odds of dying of alcohol poisoning if you’re smoking while binge drinking. Something about the way the body metabolizes the alcohol or the pot supresses your urge to puke when alcohol levels are deadly or something. I don’t know, I’m sure it’s on the interwebs somewhere.
Hell, you can even OD on nutmeg. And get high on it. Apparently.
Aka “choking” and “drowning”, respectively.
Actually, water intoxication is a fatal disruption of brain functions when the body’s electrolytes are thrown out of whack by overhydration.
Unless she managed to find a way to have a constant, thick steam of pot-smoke to breathe, I don’t think it’s possible :/ And even then it would be suffocation rather than OD. You can green out and die choking on your own puke also.
I always thought you needed a large amount of pot (25+lbs) fall on you from a great height to OD
Maybe you can’t OD on it, but you can certainly still abuse it. Dana was clearly using it as a crutch instead of actually working through her grief.
You can’t realistically OD on pot. Just like you can’t realistically OD on water. Though, pot can cause lung problems considering she was smoking it all the time and it can fuck up your short-term memory in the log run.
Arguably harder to OD on pot than water. Remember that “hold your wee for a Wii” thing?
Sacramento, baby!
You do realize that people have actually died from drinking too much water, right? You should google it.
People have in fact died from drinking too much water. The most prominent example in recent popular memory was the woman who died trying to win a Wii via a radio contest. Turns out that too much water in the system really screws up the electrolyte balance needed for proper nervous function.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16614865/ns/us_news-life/t/woman-dies-after-water-drinking-contest/
Oh for Pete’s sake… How did I miss the person above beating me to this by hours?
*sigh* Bedtime.
That’s utter non- wait, what was I talking about again?
I had gotten the impression that Dana was into more than just pot, but I could be wrong. One of the strips showed her with a bong, but my little bit of googling tells me pot is often used in those, and I’d thought they were normally used for things like opium and such. I’ve never been into drugs myself, so I’m rather clueless I admit.
The “water pipe” should only be used for tobacco but it can be used to smoke whatever one pleases. But I have only known people using them for marijuana and only marijuana.
You seriously think pot was the only drug she was doing?
I think it’s the only one she was smoking out of a bong. But maybe she was going down some slippery slope into other things. Even if it’s just pot, if she was using it as a severe crutch for coping with her mom’s passing that is something I think the parents should know. I mean, smoking sometimes for fun is one thing, but if there is a serious crisis and they don’t deal with it and instead smoke? That’s no good and can lead to self destructive behaviors later. Not because of the pot. Because of the mindset.
It’s ok, Sarah…I hate coconut too.
Deserved or not Sarah really isn’t helping her case. She’s lucky Raidah didn’t press charges and going off on Billie in a presumably public place is only going to prove her point.
I’m sorry Sarah has violent outbursts when she feels people closing in on her. If I were her I would too. She is constantly being berated by multiple parties. Do you even REALIZE how cornering that feels. Like everyone is out to get you . Antagonizing you. Seeking you out to destroy you. Her losing it from time to time is so deserved that I don’t really want to entertain the notions that it’s “not going to prove her point”
True that. Were I in Sarah’s situation, I would’ve cracked a bongo’s skull with that baseball bat by now. It’s probably the worst possible situation when all you wanna do is help someone in the most logical way you know how, and yet have everyone else look onto your selfless efforts as double-edged attempts to help yourself. Sarah is the underdog here, but luckily she’s a fighter. Were it not for her persistence to stay focused, it’s unlikely she would even still be enrolled at the university.
What’s understandable and what’s right are two different things though.
“Are you saying you’d do better in Sarah’s situation Splash?”
Oh fuck no. I’da gone off too. I probably wouldn’t have decked Raidah though…I’d say that’s where we differed.
Seems to me Billie’s comment was kinda like the last straw. I agree with you though, even if it’s understandable doesn’t make it right, but I don’t blame Sarah. The other girls need to just leave her alone about it, but it seems they won’t let her forget what happened. I think Sarah did the right thing and even if they disagree, it’s no excuse for how they’re treating her.
There’s a big difference between what you’d like to do and what is legally protected to do. I don’t know if it’s been established as to what Sarah’s career aspirations are, but I think it’s law and losing your cool in the courtroom is something you can’t do. Why not use her brain and argue the point? Pose the question as to what Billie would’ve done in her place and how that would only make the situation worse for Dana. Then guilt trip her about how her own irresponsibility nearly got Joyce assaulted if she, Sarah, hadn’t stopped it. Instead throwing a tray just just reinforces everyone’s opinion that she’s short tempered and hates people.
You’d have to be dealing with a rational, thinking person for that scenario to work. Billie is impervious logic and guilt. She’s also a self-centered jerk Also, most people don’t stop to consider legalities when someone has pushed them to the point of lashing out.
In other words…
LAWYERED!
I do.
UNLESS THAT’S JUST WHAT THEY WANT ME TO THINK.
I know that feeling. As far as I’m concerned, Sarah is in the right and Billie is pressing buttons. Sarah volunteered very sensitive and personal information and Billie is violating her trust by using it to question her methods. I have volunteered personal information for selfish reasons, but Sarah volunteered it with people she trusts. Shame, Billie. Shame.
Raidah doesn’t strike me as the type to do anything to invite a second opinion as to how correct she was about Dana “getting better” and Sarah being a “monster.”
Another thing the two of them seem to have in common are vibes of deliberate social isolation to avoid facing their demons. I’ve kind of noticed how Raidah and Co. always seem interested in the most socially isolated girls they can find, and Raidah seems to always decide what the others are supposed to think.
Sounds like someone is afraid of being judged by less insecure, more mature people, or of the Court System not being sympathetic enough of her point of view in all this.
Busting Sarah on her violent outbursts may cost her what really made this all this antagonizing worthwhile….
Quite. Billie is (almost certainly) incorrect, and it’s made somewhat better by that it’s Sarah’s own food (and cutlery) that she’s throwing through the air (as well as that it’s sideways and not at Billie), but her quickness to resort to physical violence (rather than, say, scathing refutation) seems as though it could gradually make her very scary to be around.
Let’s see… we have another thing to add to the list of Things That Should Not Be Done, which includes things like tugging on Superman’s cape, spitting into the wind, etc etc
Break her face Sarah! Break her horsey face!
y’know Billie…Looking back on this…how did you expect this to turn out?
With her guts splattered everywhere and her head on a pike?
It explains nearly every one of Billie’s actions since she entered campus if you assume she has some kind of fetish for this sort of stuff.
With Sarah stunned by her amazing dis, right before she flips her hair and walks away, having established her popular alpha female credentials?
That… is probably exactly how Billie expected it to turn out. LoL.
Billie, you really had to have practiced to get that stupid, because if you were born that dumb, you would never have lived long enough to enter college.
If by “practice,” you mean “drink heavily and regularly,” I’d say you’ve hit the nail on the head.
You’d be surprised how hard it is for natural selection to take it’s course for someone of Billie’s upbringing in the United States.
This may be the beginning of the end, however. She’s on the thug RA’s dookie-list, STILL an out-of-control alcoholic, and now she’s shooting for Sarah’s shit-list.
Say hi to Master Shake for me after you earn your Darwin Award, Billz. ^ ^
Well, in Billie’s defense, someone doesn’t expect a person to go apeshit crazy after a question.
Come to think of it, this is Sarah’s third act of sudden violence.
Yeah, after being told that she’s trying to get someone she cares about and calls her little sister (however privately) out of school for her own benefit.
More of a malicious accusation than a question.
Compensating for being below second-best as about everything else with maliciousness isn’t exactly out of character for Billie, and this one makes the original look like a chess champion / homecoming queen by comparison.
So … why would someone NOT expect a person to go apeshit crazy after asking such loaded questions when they have personally been witness to said person’s previous violent outbursts?
Only one of those acts of violence was unjustified, and even that was understandable given her history with Raida.
Out of the frying pan and into another frying pan.
but this one is a wok.
:3 think about it.
Yotomoe, you’re all right.
Billie you just don’t value your life right? O.o
It’s become pretty obvious that Billie just has the awesome habit of choosing fights with the wrong people.
I wonder if Sarah and Joyce were assigned to be roommates on the basis that they will both BREAK YOU if you push the right button.
“I love people! I DON’T LIKE LUNCH TRAYS!”
And no fair, Willis, now you’ve given the straight chicks and gay guys some full frontal, but what about the straight guys and lesbians? If you’re going to graduate into straight up Rule 34 of your characters, I can provide a list of suggestions…
Faz is naturally at the top of this list.
Billie, would you be a friend and help me break this lunch tray like the little piece of shit it is? All I need is your face.
You can find some if you know where to look.
… and I have a new quest! Who wants to join me?! But, uh, we gotta split up into privacy once we’ve achieved our goal. No public sharing of the booty.
I believe some is on Rule34.com or similar. It might not actually be Dave’s handywork (not entirely sure, I think it is), but it’s damn close.
… Of course, I don’t fap to cartoon characters. Well, not western cartoons, anyway… Sometimes.
Billie…doesn’t seem to be very sensible about this. Either that or she’s so fixated on herself that she’s stupid in other areas.
Billie has a father who, according to her, is very distant and only shows affection through money. It’s pretty understandable that she would conclude from this that getting the parents involved isn’t a good idea. What kind of “help” could she expect if her dad was called in on her?
Money?
OK, let’s imagine that Billy ended up in Dana’s place (a drug-abusing loser who wasn’t getting the help she needed) or Joyce’s place (raped or almost raped). Merely throwing money at her would have helped…how, exactly? When one or both of your parents are emotionally distant and not there for you in the ways you really need, why would you expect them to make your troubles better rather than worse?
I am not saying, by the way, that Billie’s opinion of Sarah’s actions is correct. I am saying her opinion is understandable. She’s wrong, but it’s pretty easy to understand why she thinks the way she does.
Expensive rehabilitation clinics and therapists? Kind of depends on how much money we’re talking about.
It *also* depends on whether he just throws the money at her and then leaves her to her own devices (as her story implies he would), or whether he’d be engaged enough to make sure that the money actually did some good. Given what we’ve seen of Billie so far, she’d be far more likely to blow the money on booze and partying rather than spend it on rehab and/or therapy.
An excellent point. Would such a father be engaged enough to remove her from the school though, or are we basically talking about Billie still mourning on campus but now able to afford more of her vices? Or still dealing with trauma with trauma with that same situation?
More money, I guess?
But Billier herself seemed to think that was a *bad* thing. So she knows it’s not normal. Right?
Maybe she just wants to jump on the “Let’s bully Sarah” train.
All the cool kids are doing it.
Bullying Sarah or getting slapped by her?
Ding ding ding!
But the joke’s on her! Not only will this kind of bullying go nowhere in ways of social standing, but Raidah and the two others are likely already lower on the social ladder than even *she* is! Ha HA!
“That’s right, Mistah J!”
“DON’T INTERUPPT, HARLEY!” *BLAM!*
*thump!…………*
Uh… I don’t know Billie…. Could you please rephrase the question in a mature fashion?
or in american sign language so I don’t have to hear that stupidity spilling out of your face.
Also I don’t use parents to answer ever difficult situation, sometimes I use violence when parents won’t work.
I probably would have made the same call Sarah did, given the same situation.
Indeed (you’re referring to calling Dana’s parents, I’m assuming). It was for Dana’s own good, plus Sarah’s grades were suffering. The only other option I can see is requesting a new roommate, but that wouldn’t have helped Dana at all. In fact, it may have made things worse for her, depending on who she ended up rooming with.
Er, Dana’s *Father. Forgot for a second there that her mother was dead and that’s what started the whole problem.
Something tells me Sarah isn’t fond of this line of reasoning.
Something tells me Sarah isn’t fond of lunch.
Something tells methat lunch isn’t fond of being on the floor, but oh well!
I know I’m the only one who isn’t crazy about Billie, but am I also the only one who thinks Sarah was right? Plus, she awesomely saved Joyce, which I don’t think she gets enough credit for.
It might be because I am probably the real life equivalent of her, though.
A rule of thumb: anyone who asks “am I the only one who…” is not. People who actually are “the only one” usually think that the vast majority agrees with them.
Totally gonna quote you on that.
And I’m gonna second that.
There’s a POLL in the website’s sidebar. A MAJORITY of readers (or at least of people who voted in it) agree that Sara was right.
XD She had to bring in JOYCE. Sarah gonna kill.
My eyes! MY EYES!!! Now I know where the broom stick is in Dumbing Of Age
Oh good, I have someone to help me kick your ass. Thanks, Sarah.
Dumbing of Age fighting game.
Let’s fund it.
Dumbing of Age or Joyce and Walky?
Because I think the latter is far better suited to a fighting game. Then again, it could just be a “Walky-verse” game so as to include Amazi-Girl and Sarah Clinton (with a bat).
I’d love to see the Mike endings of such a game.
Sarah’s about to go Movie Optimus…!
Someone’s about to have their face ripped off. And rightfully so.
She’s going to die after Billie takes Hot Rod hostage? That would certainly be a twist.
Nice!
The best thing to do is antagonize the person with a history of violence about things that are none of your business and you have only a passing knowledge of.
Bravo, Billie.
Screw history of violence, Billie shouldn’t be so confrontational in the first place! There are much better, much more tactful ways to have breached the subject. I mean, if she had asked if Sarah disliked Joyce would’ve been less aggressive, yet still as offensive. There are far better ways to learn about what’s going on in Sarah’s head. Then again, Billie’s not exactly a people person. Was she really a popular kid in high school? I’m going to have to redefine popular, if so…
Billie was a cheerleader, editor of the school newspaper, apparently rich, and also obviously liberal with the booze. She probably was a well-known party girl, which would definitely have made her popular among a bunch of high school brats. It’s not that you need to redefine popularity, it’s that you need to understand that high school students aren’t mature.
Whatthefuck, Sarah, that was perfectly good cake that you just wasted.
I fail to see how this situation is supposed to wind up sealed with a kiss.
Hey, Billie. You’re going to go berate Dorothy next, right? (Assuming Sarah leaves anything of you.) Because she wanted to involve the hospital and the cops too. In fact she argued for it harder than Sarah did. Clearly Dorothy is also a horrible person who hates humanity.
Or you could be so wrong there aren’t actually words to describe it. That works too.
Well to be fair, Dorothy is kind of an ego-inflated jerk at times.
“No, I was mistaken. VIOLENCE appears to be your solution to everything.”
Sarah is not a healthy person.
It’ll be an epic battle between two wildly unhealthy people.
No it’s not. In the beginning when we see Raidah talk to Sarah in the cafeteria, Sarah barely even acknowledged her.
But after a while? You can only take so much shit from assholes before violence ensues. Billie is an asshole.
As far as we can tell, Sarah did not once tell Raidah and her crew to just leave her alone and ignore her. Apparently Sarah punched Raidah in the face on their second encounter this year. Sarah also beat the shit out of Ryan with a bat. Granted Ryan was a creep, she did more than “the minimum amount of force necessary to subdue them”. And now at the mere mention of something that is obviously a sore point for her, she throws her food like a child. Sarah is violent and unhealthy.
Raidah & crew can’t see when someone has a real problem nor listen when someone addresses the problem. So I leaves smelling and touching to try to get her message across.
And you save the minimum amount of force necessary for the police, when you see an abusive creep in action you are better off to use too much force then not enough
Also tasting! Which gets my vote.
Minimum necessary force is also what legally protects her from an assault charge. Not that most juries would convict but….
We’re talking about the person who when your in trouble turns out to have been silently stalking you with a baseball bat in tow just in case something happens. Then later brandishes the baseball bat as physical evidence of her caring. She’s healthy like Jason Todd is healthy.
Amazi-girl looks plenty healthy to me
Just to be technical, it was either her third or her fourth encounter with Raidah this year, depending on whether you count the two meetings at the mall as one or not. More importantly, while we don’t know what happened after midterm last year, it seems really unlikely that Raidah & Co. left Sarah alone all that time but have suddenly decided to start going after her now. (Possible. But unlikely.) In which case, Sarah’s violence was the result of months of harassment followed up by the discovery that they weren’t going to stop in the new year and that they were trying to take any new friends she might make away from her. (I know that’s not why they were talking to Joyce, but Raidah had just tried to do it with Dina five minutes earlier.) Why would she bother telling them to leave her alone at that point? They’re obviously not going to.
All of that said, yes, I think Sarah could use some anger-management counseling.
Agreed.
I don’t think Raidah is any less unhealthy than Sarah, but her approach kind of keeps her out of the kind of trouble she’s succeeding in getting Sarah into. No doubt Billie’s just parroting what she heard from Raidah. After the incident with Dana, she seems to have gone in her shell and stayed there, even when Raidah wouldn’t stop poking it with a sharp stick, knowing no one would tell her to cut it out, or would see her as a mean kid, for that matter.
Anger-Management Counseling most likely will only make it worse, but she definitely needs some sort counseling. Preferably the kind that deals with condependence that can show her how to build bridges with better crowds and not burn them.
No longer finding Sarah all alone and with non-gullible company just might be enough to scare Raidah and her two goons into backing off and moving on with their lives.
When activly avoiding a “difficult” “person/group of people” doesn’t work you sometimes gotta give them a reason to leave you alone.
Open mouth, insert watermelon.
You don’t really like people either, do you Billy?
Looks like Billie has gotten tired of being called chubby and has found somebody to remove a portion of her insides for her.
Did she just throw away cake? -5 cool points.
Panel 5:
“But enough talk. Have at you!”
Panel 6:
“Playtime’s over. GRANT ME POWER!”
Well, I suppose it’s Billie’s own fault for outing her as Dracula a couple of weeks ago.
Panels 7 to 13: Spamming Hydro Storm over and over
We’re over 100 comments in and no sign of Plasma Mongoose. Whatever happen to him/her?
Whatever Happened to the Mongoose of Tomorrow.
So, Plas killed Mr. Mxyzptlk, exposes himself/herself to Gold Kryptonite and now is living with an assumed name?
Yes. Yes, that is exactly what I’m saying.
I think she likes people. Think about it, if she didn’t like them at all, she wouldn’t have had any friends to loose. Also, calling one’s parents is, I feel, not nearly as bad as calling the cops or university officials.
Maybe Indiana is different, but usually you can take some time off from college and get back in fairly easily if it’s student initiated. If it’s university initiated, then there’s a problem.
I think it would probably be more accurate to say that, while she doesn’t like people in general, she cares very deeply for her friends.
A viewpoint with which I can very readily sympathize.
I can sympathize with it too. Maybe that’s why I don’t see anything wrong with most of her actions.
You know, if Sarah kills Billie, I’m pretty sure this can be ruled a suicide.
Kill Billie: Part 2
Suicide by Sarah.
Seeing as Billie is basing this hypothesis on the evidence of two incidents, I’m surprised she wasn’t able to realize that it was equally likely that physical violence was the answer to all of Sarah’s problems.
Also, way to swat your own lunch, Sarah.
“This lunch means nothing to me!”
I really really really want to see Billie get hurt right now. Please do not make a reasonable person step in and end this, Willis.
Is your avatar a blue platypus?
Okay Sarah, time to switch to decaf.
What Billie said was uncalled for; but does it merit such a violent reaction? And not long before this there was punching Raidah. And let’s not forget beating up Ryan with a bat. Totally deserved, but it still makes for three acts of sudden violence.
Yes, yes it does. The one who suggested do nothing was the best course of action after an attempted rape should not get to criticize Sarah for picking the reasonable courses of action. I hope to see Billie lose her teeth.
I’m beginning to think Sarah might have anger management issues.
…when did a Toronto Maple Leafs jersey/stick get added to the banner? And did I miss why as well?
Well, the banner rotation, anyway.
Sounds like it’s tied to Ruth? She wore that blue jersey with the white maple leaf a couple times. Maybe she’s from Toronto?
Sealed With A Kiss.
Wait, what?
Billie’s answer to attempted rape is to pretend it didn’t happen, ’cause it’s a buzz kill.
Yeah, I’d literally flip my shit if a bongo like her had the gall to try and turn her self-serving cowardliness around.
To be fair to Billie–and it kind of hurts to say that right now–at the time she didn’t want to go to the police because Joyce was begging them not to, and she thought it would be a victory for the rapist if Joyce got taken out of school on top of being assaulted. That’s a fair concern.
Of course in the morning it was all “Sarah made us go home!” and “Can we go back to bed?” so…yeah, I feel sympathy for Sarah’s tray-flipping.
and this is why we do not taunt the happy fun sarah.
I honestly think at some point Dana should show up and actually be grateful for what Sarah did. That’ll teach everyone else.
Oh good, I’m not the only one who was thinking that.
Shame it’ll probably never happen, but hope springs eternal and all that jazz.
Yeah see this is Billie missing the point. In both cases where Sarah has tried to get a person’s parents involved anyone knowing the full situation would reasonably think that parents should be involved.
A guy used Joyce’s faith to try and rape her. Her parents have handicapped her in the ways of the world clearly and the choice is she either go back under their protective guidance surrounded by a church of like minded people or she drop some of her doe eyed shit but quick.
All indications are that she doesn’t want to drop the doe eyed stuff. Sarah thus recommended the parents. It’s irritating that people jump to the “loner” hates people argument because any of us loners that dare to recommend a solution that might also have drawbacks seems to be met with skepticism because we clearly never have the person’s good health or well being in mind.
Sarah didn’t even recommend the parents, actually; this is Billie’s own skewed interpretation of events. Sarah did want to go to the cops, which might have gotten Joyce’s parents involved (although I don’t think they’re allowed to contact her parents if she doesn’t want them to?), but she never said a word about talking to Joyce’s parents directly, much less that she thought Joyce should go home with them.
Once you’re 18, I’m pretty sure the cops no longer have to inform your parents about stuff.
Willis knows what he is doing. (Either that, or he’s really good at ark-welding.) I suspect this is somewhat of an M.O. for Sarah, who likely had a very different experience with her parents than the rest of the cast. At the same time, Billie, whose father was distant, sees the other motive behind Sarah’s actions, which is the protection of her scholarship. Naturally conflict ensues! Billie, leave the Drama-tag alone!
An MO? As in, she makes a regular habit of having roommates get their own selves into trouble that merits any sane person considering the idea of calling in proper authorities in to help, and she has the audacity to do so?
Darn that Sarah, having roommates and all.
Heh, flying eyebrows.
Sarah’s angry face reminds me of a clown.
… Which makes it infinitely more terrifying. D:
This is not going to end well.
This is so not going to end well.
I’m calling it now.
Everyone’s saying that this is a terrible case of Sarah’s violence but people swak their trays all the time and it doesn’t escalate into an actual fight. This is more of an outburst than just violence thus far.
Pretty much. I would’ve thought the readers would’ve learned by now to wait until the whole thing plays out before dropping judgements. I despise Sarah a lot, though I think Billie’s out of line. However, I’m willing to give Sarah the benefit of the doubt and actually think this won’t escalate into a beatdown. Not a physical one, anyway. Verbal? I can see that totally coming. Considering that Billie’s already been beaten down, I’d say another really wouldn’t affect her all THAT much. But a “reason you suck” speech could penetrate Billie pretty deep.
…
…
For a nickel. Willis what have you done to me.
‘Cause she’s a prostitute.
Sarah’s not helping her case.
It’s going down…
LUNCH BRAWL!!!
FOOD FIGHT!
It’s something incredible these monsters once were edible so everybody take a look at combat creatures you can cook!
Yeah, I did want that food…
Billie better step off less she wana get her face swaked.
I’ve often been on Sarah’s case for…well, being a violent misanthropist.
That being said, that *was* the appropriate response.
Billie should take more notice of the fact that Sarah’s other go-to solution is beating someone’s face in.
Everyone is concerned for the cake, and that’s fine and all, but what about the chocolate milk? The poor chocolate milk…
I’m OK with Sarah solving the majority of her problems with violence. :3
Now, I don’t know how these folks were in the original It’s Walky!, but between Malaya in SP! and the “getting help for people in trouble makes you a bad person” brigade in Dumbing, it seems to me that Willis has a sudden fascination with writing female characters that are total assholes. And I don’t mean in a slapstick over the top fashion like Mike.
Most of the people who are from Willis’ other comics keep their personalities or at least similar ones here, but Raidah and co. are new, and so have no preexisting character development to fall back on.
weren’t they some sort of extra characters in Seme? I may be mistaken.
wait!… what would happen if Mike was genderswapped?
Think about it, and where all the nickels would come from.
Man, so much teenage angst in one lunch period. Sarah has taken all that she can, and she aint gonna take it anymore!
I have known people who are like Billie very well. It’s just so sad to see her berate Sarah like this, bringing an immature reasoning and confrontation to Sarah when she saw first hand what Sarah can do and how much it can take to set her off. In this case it was not very much at all cause it looked like Sarah had massive pent up “feelings” and Billie looks like she is about to be a an outlet for those “feelings.”
again i completely understand because i have been in both Sarah and kindof Billie’s shoes, ya know?
If she keeps up with heavy drinking, excessive partying, popularity chasing and provoking people, I think Billie is not going to live through her college.
… just sayin’!
I’ve never hated Billie more than in this strip.
i can only think of one piece of advice for Billie in this strip: RUN!
Billie is acting just like Raidah and company. However, Sarah has got to get a grip or she is going to be busted out of college for violence.
Billie is acting just like Raidah and company. However, Sarah has got to get a grip or she is going to be busted out of college for violence.
IIRC, Sarah and possibly someone else suggested that they bring Joyce to the hospital that night. Joyce said no, her parents would find out and pull her out of school. (Presumably she wouldn’t be able to pay and would have to send the hospital bill to her parents). Sarah immediately said OK, no hospital. Sarah said this first if I remember. Not Billie. If Sarah wanted to get rid of her roommate, she would have had a perfect chance there since Joyce was still pretty hazy–she could have probably got her to the hospital and even called her parents and told them what happened. But she didn’t, because she knew that Joyce didn’t want to leave school and that it probably is better for her in the long run to learn about the real world instead of being over-protected again.
I don’t know if Sarah hates people or not. I thnk she’s pretty cynical about people and doesn’t just like people because they’re nice on the surface. Howevere, she gave Dana & Raidah and their friends a chance. I think she is very loyal to her friends, to people she thinks are good people, or who need protecting like Joyce and Dina.
She obviously cares about doing well in school and having a good career, and for this she needs to keep up her grades and her scholarship. There’s nothing wrong with this. She seemed like she cared about Dana, but Dana wasn’t getting any better. She had to do something to stop Dana from spiralling out of control. She cared about her scholarship too–often people have mixed motives for doing things.
I was thinking that if someone kept on like Dana was doing, they would probably have flunked out of college anyway, and would have a very hard time getting back in. Or she would have got caught with pot and arrested and possibly kicked out. She’d have a hell of a time getting back in if that happened too. Since she withdrew, she might be able to come back in the future.
I hope Willis does more backstory on Sarah. She seems like someone who had bad experiences with people (probably bullying or shunning from popular kids) in high school or even before, and as a result she became bitter and negative.
Billie shouldn’t really be calling Sarah a bad friend. Billie has shown she only cares about herself and being popular. She’d throw Joyce under the bus in a minute if she thought it would gain her points with the popular kids.
That said, I don’t think violence is the answer for Sarah, but I can see why someone would be so frustrated and hurt and angry at the constant criticism and misunderstanding directed at her. I think she has anger management issues, and needs to learn a better way to deal with jerks like Raidah and Billie.
Billie: continuing a fine tradition of pissing off everyone worth knowing at college that she doesn’t already know.
Billie needs to back the fuck down. I’m actually pretty mad at her about this.
Well, that was certainly uncalled for, Billie. Seriously, what the hell?
I love Sarah in panel 2. Her expression says, “did that person just say what I think she said?”
Oh fuck
Btw, i think Billie’s hot. I like my webcomic girls chubby ;9
Sarah is really, really getting tired of everyone’s crap.
Uhh… If I recall correctly, Dorothy was the one who wanted to get Joyce to the hospital? Sarah suggested they deal with it in the morning…
