The clues were all around, but we refused to see! “Monkey Master & Dexter” was just the David’s version of the Twilight Zone episode, “To Serve Man”! o_O
reminds me of my favorite anagram from Zero Time Dilemma 🙂
(Zero Escape is a fun trilogy. ZTD is definitely a contentious third game–I disagreed with a lot of decisions: eg not including an inset map, using special effects [SFX just made things silly imo], imbalanced foreshadowing, purple eye color, some of the bad ends feeling very anticlimactic … but I think it at least answered the questions from the previous game while adding some semblance of overarching narrative to the series. I suppose it’s not so much “bad” as it is “underwhelming”.)
I think the far more likely answer is that Sarah has always had a relatively high pissiness/misanthrope quotient, and seeing Lucy successfully put the moves on Jacob in just one night caused some sort of stack overflow.
Just for the record, Sid Meier’s autobiography, Sid Meier’s Autobiography, tell us that Ghandi’s nuclear delirium wasn’t a computing error as the rumors say, but just how the game worked out the best way to secure peace with the logic rules given to it.
I mean, I wouldn’t call it ‘joy’ anyway, more like slightly above neutral, but yeah. Her starting out with “Friends,” seems like a pretty big indicator that it’s ingenuine (at least insofar asmaking an effort to feel neutral, probably moreso)
Hell, maybe it is. I can’t be the only one whose noticed that Jacob and Sarah would be TERRIBLE together. Maybe she found someone who actually works well for her.
I’m thinking it’s a strategy shift. Sarah was told a few times by Jacob that she needs to let people in, and seeing how he was attracted to Lucy’s cheerfulness enough to spend the night with her, combined with how interested Jacob was with Joyce and her cheerfulness last semester, it made her realize that she’ll NEVER get Jacob by being a Miss Grumpypants 24/7.
Do I think this strategy will work? Most likely not, but kudos on Sarah FINALLY trying to improve herself, whereas Jennifer is still stuck in her rut.
It’d be really funny if Sarah starts being cheery as a ploy to attract Jacob, only to genuine end up as a sweeter person and have an identity crisis because of it.
After seeing Lucy and Jacob kiss and then leave together, Sarah wandered a little, drifting between brooding, dejection, and a lot of just feeling like she was a spectator of her own life. She ended up spacing out in the Beck common room, where Arnold struck up a conversation. Maybe it was the lingering effects of the booze or his mild snarkiness, but she found him easy to talk to. There’s no sparks yet, but just being able to be comfortable with someone has given her a measure of peace. And is making it easier to move on.
Has she though? I don’t really remember Lucy really hanging out or interacting with Raidah’s group outside of the one lunch date she and Walky went on.
Wasn’t it just a day or so ago in universe that Lucy and Walky had brunch? also the way Radiah refused to acknowledge Lucy the whole time even when Lucy directly talked to her radiah has no buisness expecting best friend level loyalty. I don’t think Lucy would know anything about Radiah and jacob because her whole lunch was talking to Walky about his mom and complainingabout Sarah getting Dina kicked out (heavily exaggerated version) don’t think her and her ex ever got mentioned.
I don’t think the big takeaway is Lucy not knowing. She barely interacted with Sarah and when they did it was tense. Jacob downplaying he knows Sarah liked him romantically is the real punch here. He’s hanged with Sarah multiple times, knew she was down bad, and didn’t care. That’s all fine, but downplaying that after the fact is slightly disappointing. Just own it dude.
Jennifer did know Sarah was trying to break up Radiah and Jacob and back when it was revealed at Joyce’s party they were together Sarah was pretty obvious about wanting Jacob if radiah had him.
Sarah and Raidah also have a fairly evident mutual dislike of one another. Sarah wanting Raidah’s as-was boyfreind to break up with her could have been construed by Jennifer as a purely spiteful act rather then wanting him herself.
i’m surprised she didn’t pick up with it when sarah was acting ’emotionally constipated’ when lucy and jacob first talked to each other on the side walk unless she just thought it was her default mode with ppl
i suppose she is oblivious(?) /unaffected enough to never stop being ‘friendly’ towards malaya even tho she clearly was told ‘fuck off’ (and intruding on her and marcy ‘cuddling’/hanging out), even if she didn’t wanna show back any ‘hostility’ i def would give someone that kinda space if i was a roommate with someone like that to begin with
She didn’t pick up on Walky not really being in love with her until way too late and I’d think someone with real emotional intelligence would have been able to either make a move on him earlier or walk away
To be clear here, Sal doesn’t want Jen to date Asher but it’s somehow totally okay for Ethan to date him? Or is it just that she can’t stop Ethan because he’s not really in her circle of influence the way Jennifer is? What are the rules of Asher dating? Beyond never trusting him. That one is a given.
Sal cares about Billie because they are childhood friends. Ethan is someone she’s vaguely acquainted with through Amber. She has very different investments in these two people.
I think it’s less she’s Okay with Ethan dating Asher and more it’s out of her hands and much less her business.
I’m imagining something like, “asher is a bad person, he betrays everyone, anyone in his orbit will get hurt”….. *glances at Emo Ethan*, “I guess he’d be fine with it”
“oh, well clearly he’s With Her right now, because they had one intimate encounter, so that means they are immediately a couple…”
“…oh thank GOD, that means he’s NOT AVAILABLE, and thus, I do NOT have to process ANY of my feelings about him, anymore! It’s not my problem! I don’t have to feel anything, ahahahaha!”
Honestly this is exactly how I took it lmao like “oh thank God maybe I can get past this now”
I think she is also potentially self aware enough (MAYBE) to know she isn’t in a place where she can have a “relationship” – she can barely tolerate friendships. Jacob clearly wants a relationship, and he and Lucy had the chemistry, the ability and the opportunity…. Maybe, big maybe, she is just relieved the pressure is off to keep pushing her boundaries/limits when it came to trying to force herself into someone Jacob would want. Idk.
The second option is what I see happening here, Sarah seemed okay with Joyce potentially dating Jacob so I don’t think Sarah is really the jealous type (more like a perfect excuse to move on!), the Raidah thing had more to do with Raidah than it had to do with Jacob. Yes, she’s into him but is mostly sexual, she had no interest in romance… maybe she is aromantic now that I think about it!
I think things have changed. Originally, way back when, she was interested in Jacob physically. Then it became a matter of not letting Raidah have him.
But recently she’s come back around to interest in him, even to the point of making some (mostly failed) efforts to open up to him.
She might be telling herself that second option, because it’s easier, but I doubt she’s actually happy about it.
Sarah WOULD take the excuse to try and shed away her feelings through “welp! It was never going to happen 🙂 I can go back to usual business now!” She wasn’t really acting rationally around him.
I was thinking about this too. She was fine to let anyone-but-Raidah have him, and although the rough end to their talk last night probably stung, it is probably also a relief (though I think addressing them as ‘Friends’ indicates she’s still putting on a bit of a facade)
As for the first half of that, leaving the party together they way they did and then showing up the next morning still together is a pretty good clue they’re some kind of couple.
Might not last, but it pretty clearly wasn’t the kind of drunken hookup where you’re all embarrassed and don’t want to deal with each other the next day.
i mean, if she’s gonna be a future lawyer she’s gonna need to steel herself dealing with interpersonal relationships and dealing with unfavorable outcomes lol
Not even that really, iirc the only “evidence” of her knowing about it was seeing Sarah run away from interacting with him. And come on, this is Sarah, running away just from having a regular social interaction is completely in character for her.
Not sure if Sarah’s smile is A) fake and she’s super duper pissed off, or B) real and that she’s just happy Jacob’s with Literally Any Person Other Than Raidah.
I can see a few things here:
1) Sarah is trying to be cheery to win Jacob over.
2) Sarah is legitimately happy, because she can like Jacob without having to deal with feelings.
3) Sarah is vicariously happy for Lucy and is much more mature than we thought or spiteful at radiah.
4) Sarah is going to, at some point very soon, whip back to being growly and mean.
5) Sarah is like this normally when she isn’t sublimating hornyness into grumpyness??? Does she do that?
If I had to pick, I’d pick #2, or close to it. When Jacob was with Raidah or single, Sarah felt she had to Do Sonething About That, where ‘that’ is her attraction to him. She’s said that she doesn’t want a romantic relationship before, though, and Jacob messed with that.
Now he’s unavailable and not because Raidah ‘reclaimed’ him, so there’s less pressure. Plus, her recent efforts in the direction of being less overtly mean have not punched her in the face, so those have been successful too.
It could be a case of ‘fake it til you make it’ but it could also be Sarah genuinely in a decent mood.
Or she really is the zero sum of happiness – most of her floor is hangover town and thus unhappy, so she’s happy enough to net it all to zero.
Or Joyce suddenly dealing with Joe not drinking but not telling her and learning that Carla is the trans person. She seems to be handling it well, but bad feeling Joyce leads to blissful Sarah, maybe processing Joyce leads to relatively pleasant Sarah.
6. Sarah is allergic to being vulnerable, and when you feel like shit avoiding being vulnerable sometimes looks like plastering on a smile and pretending it’s all fine.
Yeah I don’t get where the idea that she knew came from. They’re barely friends and she didn’t know who Jacob was till like, a day or two ago. Y’all think Sarah was pouring out her heart about her crush to her? Or that from viewing like 1½ interactions, Lucy suddenly understood everything about the Jacob/Sarah dynamic? Can she read minds?
Maybe from assuming she overheard and understood as much of their conversation at the party as it seemed she did since she commented on it to Jacob as soon as Sarah walked off.
Of course, if she’s not good at reading people and situations she could have misread it.
OTOH, Sal figured it out and she hadn’t even seen Jacob before this party and I doubt Sarah was pouring her heart out to her either.
Exactly! The only time Sarah was around Jacob when Lucy was talking to him (in the snow a while back), Sarah was just being her usual prickly grumpy self, which is how she typically is with EVERYONE who’s trying to get to know her. There seriously was no reason for Lucy to assume Sarah was holding a torch for him, and every reason for her to assume Jacob was just… trying to make friends with her, the same as Lucy was.
All of the “wow, uh, this is super out of character for Lucy”s were really making me scratch my head wondering if I had missed something, lmao.
If Sarah is anything like me, she might be able to just fall out of a crush easily. I liked someone for ten years when I was younger, ride or die, then that weasel lied to me about something and the crush just Stopped. I was free.
Handshake emoji. Another time someone told me they were only pursuing me because they knew they didn’t stand a chance with their first choice. Bam. Crush OVER.
I mean she was dating Walky til three days ago and she had never interacted with Jacob prior to that. Why would she tangentially mention Sarah’s business?
I have a vague memory of Joyce demanding that Lucy stay away from Jacob when Joyce was still into him. So it at least came up a little that there were people in that friend group that were/are into him.
I actually kind of expected that Sarah wouldn’t be the problem here. I anticipate Raidah, however, is either going to manipulate Lucy or be overtly aggressive with her.
that’s probably the real reason Jennifers trying to find a reason for Lucy not to be with Jacob, though radiah clearly only invited Lucy as a courtesy to Walky and then ignored her so if Radiahs going to be confrontational I think it’s going to be towards Jennifer in a ‘how could you let your roommate who I consider beneath me get with my ex?”
I think Sarah had one of those Inside Out 2 moments where she had a major emotional crisis during the night and her emotions figured it out and completely redefined her as a person within several minutes.
There were numerous times during the party that Sarah had o reflect over insecurities. Maybe seeing the friendly, more open girl kissing the man shine pined over honestly gave her an empathy.
Y’know, even if Lucy did know Sarah was into Jacob, it’s canon that he’s super hot, right? Basically any guy-liking gal in his vicinity is potentially Into Him™, so not making a move based on that information would actually be kinda silly. Imagining an entire room of people who wanna fuck the same guy but nobody does it because they’re trying to be polite to each other.
What was that fuckin’ movie or anime or whatever the hell it was, where some character was after some other character for a long time, and then when they gave up on pursuing that character, they basically just laughed and moved on with their life?
Was it Marten Questionablecontent? That seems like a Marten thing, but it might have been an anime.
Probably not Marten. iirc there was Sara (eaten by an allosaur), right at the beginning of the comic, who he was a little bummed out about (they had mutual rushes, then Sara had an epiphany just as she was asking him out that he could never live up to the version of him in her head), Faye, which was kind of devastating, actually dated Dora, was pretty broken up about Padma, had a girl (Tai’s friend) who rejected him and he mostly laughed it off, but they had just met so it’s not this trope, and then has been with Claire since. I think that’s all of them.
There are probably a lot of animes it could be, but if it was QC I’d say it was maybe re: Clinton and/or Eliott’s crushes on Brun
I mean, I’d say Marten & Dora’s breakup worked out maturely on both sides, but an insufferable passiveness & live-and-let-live is sort of innate to Marten’s character anyway.
(I say as an insufferably passive person myself)
Tbf you can think someone’s super hot and not make a move lol, but sarah had a chance at the party to do something. tho idk how diff it’d would’ve been if lucy had overheard their “you’re not drunk so we can’t be equals on an emotionally vulnerable level!” chat sarah had
Yeah like, I assume that’s what it was. “Oh Sarah’s into Jacob, like everyone else.” Probably thought she wanted to fuck and nothing else (like Sarah tried to portray it as, even to Jacob), so no big deal
i’m surprise lucy didn’t pick up on it when sarah was being , uh , emotionally constipated the first time lucy and jacbo talked to each other on the street/sidewalk
Dang, i wonder if sarah using “Friends” is gonna send a chill down any of their spines lol
I wonder if Sarah is the kind of person whose emotions about a person just unplug when reaching a breaking point, and is getting over Jacob now she’s realized it wasn’t happening (which allows her to stop embarrassing herself for a guy, which probably was super weird for her.)
There’s several other things that could be happening, this one is what I’m betting on, and I’m excited about the drama about to unfold no matter which one it is.
I think it helps that unlike with Radiah, Sarah has no beef with Lucy and knows Lucy wasn’t getting with Jacob to spite her. if I were in Sarah’s position I’d be more angry at the jerk who outed my unrequited crush and claimed I’d assault them with a baseball bat like a psycho.
booster was like “you can do better (than walky)” idk if sarah cared too much but wasn’t overly fond of walky.
tho right when joyce was crushing on jacob she was talking to lucy like “you stay away from jacob!” but not that it’d stop her from making a move now since joyce/joe is dating
Hmm. I find Sarah’s level of misanthropy OTT a lot of the time, but one option I haven’t seen is: you are able to be grumpy/sarcastic/silly with people you like. People you are not actually close with are the ones who get the socially acceptable presentation.
So either withdrawing from the tentative amount of trust she had into friendly acquaintances or just shutting down so hard that it’s professional face all the way is my bet.
Even if Lucy didn’t know, Jacob did. Sarah, for all intents and purposes at least put some level of trust in Jacob at least…Letting her go at her own pace to try and sort herself out. She had previously assumed he was a nice enough person to be patient with her.
Does Jacob really owe her anything? No. Did she originally invite Lucy to the party to show they could work towards a friendship? Yes. How did all of that work out for Sarah?
Like I said, even if Lucy isn’t at fault here, Sarah probably recognizes now there’s no further need to give any level of energy towards Jacob ever again. As sad as it sounds she may even feel vindicated that no one is worth any level of affection for a long time.
Sarah has never show a “socially acceptable presentation” anytime as far as I remember, she is her misanthropic self with everyone she meets. This looks a bit more like that “smile vampire” thing when Joyce was in an awful mood and that make her act all happy. Don’t think it’s the same situation but it looks similar.
I expected Sarah would find this development positive, maybe for Lucy and Jacob, but definitely for improving her ability to make friends with each of them. But this quickly?
I’m confused about why so much of the comment section believes Raidah is either a motivating force or will be an antagonistic force regarding Sarah’s feelings and Lucy’s relationship with Jacob respectively.
Yes, Sarah wanted to break up Jacob and Raidah, but she liked Jacob before she knew he was dating her. And yes, she still hates Raidah, but the break up was mission accomplished long ago, so it was no longer a factor in her feelings for him.
And as for the idea that Raidah will try to antagonize the happy couple, I don’t see her doing anything besides the odd passing remark, like comparing Lucy to Joyce or pointing out to Sarah that she missed her chance (assuming she knows how much Sarah wanted Jacob in the first place); regardless, I’d be surprised if there was anything more than the bare minimum amount of Mean Girling ™.
Hell, I’d be surprised if they even see her anytime this day (sometime soon, but today would be convenient).
The one time the friend group ran into her was because her clique was presumably walking Jennifer to class after breakfast.
That’s definitely not happening today, so it would be weird for them to run into her on the way to class this morning.
And even if the happy couple did eventually run into Raidah, how much will she even care?
She and Jacob haven’t even interacted (on screen) for weeks before the time skip, and she hasn’t even mentioned him since they broke up, iirc.
I believe she once said something about moving on easily if a man didn’t appreciate her, and that seems to be the case.
Ha ha way to make Jennifer look like an ass, Sarah.
I assume that Jen did not account for Sarah’s long-standing tendency to go into denial at the drop of a hat
Everyone run. Sarah is being both polite AND cheerful of what appears to be her own free will. I’m pretty sure that’s one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
Sarah hates feeling or looking vulnerable, so this looks like a disassociated “eff alla you” face. Don’t care any more, or that’s what she’s presenting.
Maybe Sarah is feeling relieved she doesn’t feel she has to try anymore. There was this big tension of wether or not Jacob liked her, and maybe now that’s gone. And also a bit of a rush of feeling “I was right all along about keeping those walls”. But in a way I think the ‘happy’ party is also a facade – she doesn’t feel angry, but does feel kinda sad, and overcompensates when hiding that so comes off kinda cheerful.
oh Sarah is in hell and gritting her teeth through the experience.
That or she is somehow satisfied with her hurt because she expected as much when she allowed herself to be vulnerable enough to like Jacob and got her heart shattered so she’s on emotional autopilot.
Whatevers going on with Sarah, I really think its funny Billie pulls some ‘WELL YOU ARENT WALKING WITH ANYONE EITHER’ like. no honey she’s dating an adorable little dorkus. …Who you fumbled once.
It is so funny in retrospect how it looked like Danny missed his chance and was too prudish but in actuality he dodged a bullet and Jennifer was the one who missed out on having him.
I honestly think this is sarah being relieved that jacob is now simultaneously not with raidah and also unavailable so that she can focus on keeping her scholarship and graduating like she always claimed to want to do before joyce became a thing in her orbit.
So the Body Snatchers have finally arrived.
14 years of no aliens to heighten the surprise.
The clues were all around, but we refused to see! “Monkey Master & Dexter” was just the David’s version of the Twilight Zone episode, “To Serve Man”! o_O
If only it were so.
That said, the only sane response here is “RUN!”
ya caught me XD
I hope not. I hate coming down with viruses.
I’m not a virus. :p
Alien parasite, then?
“The truth is a virus”…

Sarah happy? Ya love to see it!
Jenifer’s prophetic accuracy remains perfect.
There is NO way that’s legitimate joy.
I think the far more likely answer is that Sarah has always had a relatively high pissiness/misanthrope quotient, and seeing Lucy successfully put the moves on Jacob in just one night caused some sort of stack overflow.
In short, this is cope.
Stack overflow error, huh? So kind of like Gandhi throwing around nukes, but in reverse?

When the legend becomes fact, print the legend
It’s funny you say that, cause mods fixed it by treating it like the computer error most people think it was.
You might even say she found Other Jacob
I’m thinking it’s a strategy shift. It’d be really funny if Sarah starts being cheery as a ploy to attract Jacob, only to genuine end up as a sweeter person and have an identity crisis because of it.
She’s high on copium.
Alternatively she realized her levels of social phobia is what lost her the chance with Jacob and she’s trying to make a change
Integer over flow?
Sarah’s own growchyness is enough to make herself happy?
Sarah seems unusually calm here considering what’s happened.
She’s probably masking REALLY hard. :0
I agree, either layering it on THICK or maybe this was the final straw and she had a full ego death that night
“Always keep them guessing.”
or joyce is behind her ready to hold back her rage
If she didn’t ‘self love’ last night to where she basically broke ‘other jacob’ 8D; /shot
After seeing Lucy and Jacob kiss and then leave together, Sarah wandered a little, drifting between brooding, dejection, and a lot of just feeling like she was a spectator of her own life. @hue: imagine if she had drunk more after and just forgot that it happened/in denial
Oh God! They broke her.
BBC Sherlock filmed some fake scenes just to fuck with fan speculation, and at one point Moriarty and Mycroft shake hands and go their separate ways.
An anonymous onlooker quietly breathing “what the fuuuck” is exactly how I feel about this panel.
Sarah broke up Jacob and Raidah. Her plan worked flawlessly.
But they broke up last semester?
The most important part of the breakup is that they don’t get back together
Holy– LUCY YOU DIDN’T KNOW!?!?! I THOUGHT YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO BE THE EMOTIONALLY INTELLIGENT ONE!!!
She didn’t even really know Jacob till the party LMAO.
Lucy may just be feigning ignorance. After all she’s been in Raidah’s clique for quite some time.
Has she though? I don’t really remember Lucy really hanging out or interacting with Raidah’s group outside of the one lunch date she and Walky went on.
Having lunch together once is enough to count as a longtime clique member, I guess? Jennifer’s much more clique than Lucy, though, I thought.
Dana not Dina*
And other things that aren’t true.
“In _that_ way?” seems to imply that there’s a distinction in Lucy’s mind. It could go one of two ways:
– Lucy thought Sarah was only into Jacob physically, and is realizing she may have wanted a long term dating sort of relationship with him.
– Lucy thought Sarah had a small crush on Jacob, but didn’t realize it was more than JUST crush.
Could also be that she thought Sarah just liked him as a friend, right?
That’s possible too!
Mm, Lucy saw Sarah running away from Jacob… seems like she could tell there was some strong emotion there.
I’m willing to believe she saw that as a failed attempt at flirting, followed by a hasty retreat, leaving an opening for Lucy to step in.
Honestly I’m kinda surprised Sal knows. She’s spoken like three sentences to Sarah and hasn’t hung around Jacob at all.
Oh whoops that’s Jennifer’s line not Sal’s.
I’m not too surprised, Lucy is friendly but not the best at reading the room when social ques are less obvious( like Sal and asher).
Yeah, the idea that Lucy is “the emotionally intelligent one” is a bit surprising.
i suppose she is oblivious(?) /unaffected enough to never stop being ‘friendly’ towards malaya even tho she clearly was told ‘fuck off’ (and intruding on her and marcy ‘cuddling’/hanging out), even if she didn’t wanna show back any ‘hostility’ i def would give someone that kinda space if i was a roommate with someone like that to begin with
She didn’t pick up on Walky not really being in love with her until way too late and I’d think someone with real emotional intelligence would have been able to either make a move on him earlier or walk away
so many bodies
so much blood
Mind shattered seeing them at the party and Sarah has had drastic personality shift. This checks out.
Sarah’s grumping so hard she went around the other side and wound up being cheerful.
Or Jennifer’s grumpiness is bringing Sarah up, like when Joyce had cramps
* got glasses
Sarah’s been replaced with a Pod Person!
that’s odd I didn’t even release any spores in that region yetBeat me too it.
The Doctor beat both of you to it LOL
that don’t mean he’ll be able to stop me tho :3
Oh god, she’s baring her teeth. Keep absolutely still. Her vision is based on movement.
Wait, no, that’s Dina.
FUCKING RUN.
Dina is not a frog.
I don’t know if it’s been explicitly stated yet that Dina is not secretly amphibious
That just in the movies.
IRL T-Rex vision is literally better than that of a HAWK
IRL T-Rex vision is actually really garbage because they don’t have eyes.

I think it’s less she’s Okay with Ethan dating Asher and more it’s out of her hands and much less her business.
> Ethan is someone she’s vaguely acquainted with through Amber
Technically Sal met Amber through Ethan.
Sal barely knows Ethan. and apparently somehow didn’t notice that he’s with Asher anyway, since she expects him to be with Jennifer.
I’m imagining something like, “asher is a bad person, he betrays everyone, anyone in his orbit will get hurt”….. *glances at Emo Ethan*, “I guess he’d be fine with it”
Is she ok with Asher being with Ethan? She was picking a fight with him before Lucy intervened.
She hates Asher but even if she doesn’t know he’s moved on I don’t think she has the same level of worry for Ethan as Jennifer.
did sal see asher and ethan making out? either way ethan’s well aware of who asher is to where i don’t think sal would need to warn him
My best guess is for Sarah’s behavior is:
Dingdingding
Sarah WOULD take the excuse to try and shed away her feelings through “welp! It was never going to happen 🙂 I can go back to usual business now!” She wasn’t really acting rationally around him.
I was thinking about this too. She was fine to let anyone-but-Raidah have him, and although the rough end to their talk last night probably stung, it is probably also a relief (though I think addressing them as ‘Friends’ indicates she’s still putting on a bit of a facade)
She did seem okay with Roz dating him, before she found out he was with Raidah.
A flavor of I want my
BelovedObject of Lust To Be Happy – If He’s Involved With Someone Else, I Can Just Ignore These Feelings For Moral Reasons.
Y’know Sy Snootles’ little “uh oh!” that they put in the special edition of ROTJ? That’s the sound I made at that last panel.
…Oh I see, the best way to react to this minor slite is to kill them with kindness!
Unexpected approach coming from Sarah but I’m intrigued, let see how this plays out.
And Sarah’s smiling.
Sarah… is smiling.
Well, this should be fun.
It’s thinking too soon, but maybe Sarah used a passive-aggressive way.
if she’s being passive aggressive hopefully it’s towards Jennifer for outing her feeling on Jacob to Lucy and throwing her under the bus.
i mean, if she’s gonna be a future lawyer she’s gonna need to steel herself dealing with interpersonal relationships and dealing with unfavorable outcomes lol
STAND BACK, I THINK SHE IS POSSESSED!
even if someone’s friendly to begin with, i would def raise an eyebrow if someone that’s a young adult said “friends” as a way to address a group
Wow, Lucy really is that dense
I don’t see how not reading Sarah’s mind about something she never told her make her dense.
She them interact like, twice maybe? And Sarah doesn’t talk to her. All there would be to pick up on is “oh Sarah thinks this hot guy is hot”
A little of this and a little of that, I guess
I’m hoping for spite instead of rage.
Neither one is particularly good, but spite is still better, and if it is against Raidah then it is 100% kosher in my book.
I read it as spite towards Jennifer in the moment whose using Sarah as an excuse to be grumpy with Lucy.
Sarah has and acknowledges non-Joyce friends?
That’s how you know the end times are coming.
Oh no she’s cracked
Sarah “Oscar-The-Grouch”ed so hard that it looped back around into being a pleasant person.
I pick this one.
Ha, called it. Lucy had no idea.
Preposterous!!!!
Vindication!
Intuition is fake bullshit smh.
I am equal parts concerned, and terrified; is there /any/ hope of this turning out well in the immediate future?
Sometimes you feel like shit, sometimes you feel out of yourself and free.
If Sarah is anything like me, she might be able to just fall out of a crush easily. I liked someone for ten years when I was younger, ride or die, then that weasel lied to me about something and the crush just Stopped. I was free.
Man, I’m exactly like that. Without going into details or anything but sometimes SOMETHING HAPPENS and it’s like.
Something inside me unplugs the emotion. thwack. In a single pull. And then it goes away forreal.
Handshake emoji. Another time someone told me they were only pursuing me because they knew they didn’t stand a chance with their first choice. Bam. Crush OVER.
There was another time Sarah was happy like this. I remember it. Someone else had to be angry and miserable as a counterweight but it wasn’t Jennifer.
Maybe she has a 6th sense for when someone isn’t going to be pissed off really soon?
It was Joyce. Sarah made snow angels with Dina.
I was thinking it was Joyce but I just wasn’t sure. Thank you, I remember the snow angels now.
oh good point, Sarah might be hurt at Jacob for kind of leading her on but Jennifers off the charts misery makes her feel she can be happy!
oh no
Geez Jennifer, you couldn’t have mentioned that to Lucy at literally any point BEFORE this moment?
I mean she was dating Walky til three days ago and she had never interacted with Jacob prior to that. Why would she tangentially mention Sarah’s business?
I have a vague memory of Joyce demanding that Lucy stay away from Jacob when Joyce was still into him. So it at least came up a little that there were people in that friend group that were/are into him.

why? They weren’t waiting for Sarah at literally any point before this moment.
Sarah just overheard Jennifer talking about her and wanted to prove her wrong.
………friends………
IT’S A MIMIC KILL IT
I actually kind of expected that Sarah wouldn’t be the problem here.
Or malding over Jacob getting with “Joyce if I respected her even less”
That smile is…weirdly real. And despite her law degree aspirations, Sarah’s not a great liar.
Did she find some motivation to lie really well about…being a nice and well-put-together person…
Oh no.
She is trying to pull a Lucy to get Jacob isn’t she.
Who are you and what did you do with my Sarah??
If she is from the alternate parallel universe why doesn’t she have a Van Dyke beard?
Same reason as AU Uhura didn’t get a van dyke.
I think Sarah had one of those Inside Out 2 moments where she had a major emotional crisis during the night and her emotions figured it out and completely redefined her as a person within several minutes.
Maybe she’s ready to let go of being grumpy and negative all the time, and try to be a little more genuine.
There were numerous times during the party that Sarah had o reflect over insecurities. Maybe seeing the friendly, more open girl kissing the man shine pined over honestly gave her an empathy.
Guys, I’m scared.
Jesus Christ, I feel like I’m one of the kids in that Addams Family Values scene where Wednesday smiles.
YESSSSS!
(I wish I had saw this before posting mine.)
Yeah, but he didn’t give up pursuing Dora, is why I ruled her out.
I missed Lt. Potter, that one was a fairly friendly rejection, but not preceeded by pining
This reminds me of Wednesday Addams when she agreed to play Pocohontas in the camp play in Adams Family Values.
Wednesday smiles after being tortured in the Happy Hut, and Amanda Buckman yells, “She’s scaring me!”
That’s this… that’s all of this.
Legit intrigued as hell about this.
To be fair, Sarah doesn’t know about that.
doesn’t know about what Jennifer just said? think it’s implied she was standing there before the rest noticed her.
Seems more like she just opened the door.
booster was like “you can do better (than walky)” idk if sarah cared too much but wasn’t overly fond of walky.
tho right when joyce was crushing on jacob she was talking to lucy like “you stay away from jacob!” but not that it’d stop her from making a move now since joyce/joe is dating
I can kind of see this?
Jennifers obviouslyin a foul mood so that could easily make the “smile vampire” scenario apply.
Except for that one time in the phone with joyces parents. She speaks fluent parent. Gives good parent, if you will
Sarah either got over stuff *fast* or that’s the best face anyone’s ever put on.
(Also I’m commenting late because I myself just moved into my dorm for uni!)
I’m betting on the second – or at least the best face Sarah’s put on.
And yay for moving into the dorm. Now you can live your very own personal Dumbing of Age. Hopefully with a few less kidnappings.
Yeah, just one (1) kidnapping. As a treat.
Someone rubbed herself to oblivion, to be in such a good mood
Sometimes I appreciate the DoA’s cosmic forces bending reality itself to prove Jennifer wrong as often as possible.
If there is not a baseball bat within the next five comics I will be sad.
oh no
(o.o.c is serious business)
I get the feeling Joyce will be the one wielding the bat this time. Sisters before race-swapped clones
I expected Sarah would find this development positive, maybe for Lucy and Jacob, but definitely for improving her ability to make friends with each of them. But this quickly?
… WHO ARE YOU AND WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH SARAH?!
Ok, Sarah has finally snapped.
She is smiling so they don’t suspect a thing as she pulls an axe out of her bag
The name tags say “Sarah” but I don’t see Sarah here. I do see her mirror universe doppelganger clone, however.
I admit, I would find that reaction objectively terrifying as Lucy and Jacob.
Amazi-girl and now Sarah? Did Dinah bought a medicinal booze, like these old emulsions grandma used to give us?
Not unless they’re now labeling prozac with XX
Uh oh. I think we broke her.
What other way is there?? lol
Ah crap, Ii meant to sent a lonely reply
Sarah learns the most powerful defensive technique: remaining unbothered
Make them think you’re up to something, so they drive themselves mad trying to figure it out.
SARAH omg i feeeel for you you’re doing great :’)
I am scared
a little bit?
Jacob I’d feel like you should be letting Lucy know she may be in danger
Ha ha way to make Jennifer look like an ass, Sarah.
I assume that Jen did not account for Sarah’s long-standing tendency to go into denial at the drop of a hat
Everyone run. Sarah is being both polite AND cheerful of what appears to be her own free will. I’m pretty sure that’s one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse.
If it appears to be contagious, it’s probably Pestilence.
Over night, Sarah decided to pursue an uncomplicated and long term relationship with the Other Jacob. It’s a load off her mind.
Sarah hates feeling or looking vulnerable, so this looks like a disassociated “eff alla you” face. Don’t care any more, or that’s what she’s presenting.
Sarah’s disdain stat has reached overflow, and the Willis is interpreting it as a very low number.
Wow, even if her smile is not intentional or true, she sure looks pretty wearing it.
Sarah looks pretty anytime.
Never let her live that down.
I honestly think this is sarah being relieved that jacob is now simultaneously not with raidah and also unavailable so that she can focus on keeping her scholarship and graduating like she always claimed to want to do before joyce became a thing in her orbit.
What we can’t see is that the hand that opened the door is indeed holding a baseball bat
… Sarah was the impostor. ~<3
