If Walky had a nickle for every girl in his social circle who has or tired to bang him. He’d have three nickles which isn’t a lot but its weird it happened three times.
He’s like Sokka from Avatar The Last Air Bender. A goofy guy with unexplainable game.
Wally’s game is that he doesn’t have game. He’s just himself, if a bit overly worried about being masculine at times, confident, and generally easy-going. Plus he’s cute. That’s enough to get him on people’s radars. And once someone’s interested, he just has to not fumble. Which he’s actually not bad at because he’s also a decent and caring dude under all that.
Yeah, people really underestimate how much of charisma is just confidence and sincerity. Know who you are and what you’re about, and then don’t hide that, people who dig it will hang with you, and people who don’t will self-select their way out of your life. A lot of people, especially in high school and college, are so trapped up in cultivating a particular image that someone who genuinely doesn’t care about how they are perceived and is just unabashedly silly is really refreshing. You know you can just relax and chill out with no pressure around people like that. Also, joy is infectious, it is really hard not have fun when you’re with someone who is just genuinely having a good time.
Or at least, that has been my experience as someone who is similarly unfettered from society’s BS expectations.
I respectfully disagree. Walky’s a guy who got thru all of high school and showed up in college without that lightning jolt hitting him like it did with Dorothy. Without crafting, planning, or conniving, in about one semester, three nickels is a lot.
Yeah, but I don’t think they’d consider actually banging one another–more likely is Walky on one side of the bed, with Dorothy next, then Joyce, then Joe. Joyce/Dorothy action happens during the male refractory period, or maybe as a pre-game warm-up.
Except that the Joyce/Dorothy action gradually takes over as they both start to ignore the boys.
More seriously, if there was any kind of poly thing with that group, I’d expect it to be a line relationship – with no shared beds. Three separate pairings with no trios.
Wait, is that an “at this moment” present tense, or “a routine activity” present tense? Because I don’t think either of those apply to anyone in this room.
In fact, try to assume they’re gonna go fuck somebody who’s not you basically the instant you stop looking at them, once you’ve broken up. Like, of you say “We’re done. Goodbye.” and then turn around, you should be prepared to see them going down on somebody if you look back over your shoulder in that moment.
Usually, couples don’t stop talking entirely after a fight. I figured if she wants to still be together, she can speak up instead of ignoring him. Otherwise, it’s a valuable lesson for her to learn.
they were dating, not married/engaged. having a fight and still being mad/not wanting to fix it literally the next day is not unreasonable. many people dating do not see/talk to each other every single day even if they aren’t fighting. many people who are closer than just dating need a day or two to clear their head after a big fight before they can talk it out and figure out if the relationship can be salvaged. If nobody explicitly said the relationshop is over, then they haven’t broken up.
Even beyond that, given that their fight was sparked by 1) Walky’s mother’s racism, and his own refusal to stock up for Lucy against it from the start and 2) his repeated rejections of Lucy’s sexual advances, which he never articulated any reason for, after being happy to jump straight into bed with his previous two girlfriends… the fact that just two days after ‘breaking up’ he’s back in bed with one of his white exes is not a good look. Nobody is obligated to have sex with any romantic partner, especially shortly into a new relationship, but the reasons why you would or wouldn’t want to matter, and to anyone in the story Walky’s reasons would look… not good.
We as the reader have the omniscent perspective to know that wasn’t about Lucy’s race, but even from our perspective “he didn’t want to sleep with Lucy because he was never romantically interested in her to begin with, he was just stringing her along and feigning interest to see if he might catch feelings later” isn’t exactly A+ behavior.
Nah the issue is that this doent matter, you cant invent the rules of the relationship ( or break up ) after the fact, and only in your mind. and not even tell the other person.
She dumped him because his feelings ( like any normal humans) didnt automatically revert to her retcon ‘they dated for months’.
aShe had a week to try to fix this and hasnt. Ironically only Walky has.
Walky chose the the real relationship they had over the pretend one. Lucy rejected the pretend one and instead has learned not to chase men.
Are things about to get uncomfortable before the party even starts? Can Amber recover this by hitting on Lucy? Will one of the board games Jumanji them and interrupt this conversation before it can be resolved? Tune in next time to find out!
I had definitely heard it used as a verb prior to the SNL skit, nearly every time somebody got sucked into a boardgame or had a boardgame come to life or whatever I’d hear it used as a verb, it was just a far less common concept to encounter prior to the SNL skit, so they certainly popularized the term, but they aren’t the first example of it.
Granted, I am drawing a blank on other examples prior to the SNL skit, but that’s because they weren’t common so it’s been years since the last time I encountered it.
I’ve used it as a verb before, and have heard others do so as well. My parents watch the new Jumanji movies, like, a lot, which was part of why I really liked that SNL skit. But I have said things previously when trying to get my mom to play a board game with me, for example, like, “Come on, it’s not going to Jumanji you.”
She’s allowed to be annoyed, but it’s jealousy by another name. Not a good emotion to be broadcasting within the friend-group, for her sake or anyone else’s. Swallow the bitter pill, Lucy. Save it for therapy.
Yeah they broke up on Sunday, and the strip is clearly on a Tuesday so that means there was… literally a day in-between the break up and Walky and Dorothy canoodling. Not that I’m saying he needs to be virginal, or that Lucy has any right to technically be upset, but I DO think any person would be perturbed that it only took your ex all of one day to slide into someone else. Especially because its his ex from beforehand!
I’d say she has a right to be upset, but no right to accuse him of wrongdoing. Breakups hurt, and your ex can totally do things that aren’t *wrong* per se, but still hurtful, even (and sometimes especially) unintentionally. So far, this is fine, if she tries to make a big deal about it to their mutual friends/acquaintances or otherwise escalate the issue, then she’d be crossing over that line, but she has every right to be upset over this, it’s how she handles it going forward that might or might not have her crossing lines.
That’s what she said Sunday. Monday, when he tried to initiate a conversation, she shut him down cold. She’s allowed to be hurt that he moved on so quickly, but he was under no obligation to wait, and she needs to accept that. At most, her reaction should be, “Yeah, okay, he really wasn’t ever that into me, and ending it was the right decision.”
Which, honestly, doesn’t count as cheating. A commitment is only as good as mutual understanding. If someone thinks the relationship is over, well, that’s valid.
Of course, something doesn’t have to be strictly cheating to be painful and a source of conflict.
And I just don’t feel like being mad at people pulling a Ross in these situations lol. Ross was right, don’t fight me because I don’t feel like arguing over a show I don’t care about lol
I’m not a Ross fan either, I think literally every character on Friends is insufferable and a terrible person.
My god was I concerned seeing a comment that said “Ross was right” in the comment section on this comic.
Context helps.
(“We were on a break” was a cheap argument (on the part of the writers) that replaced any attention given to the issues in their relationship that had actually LED to the break.)
I think my standing rule is that the longer a show or other pieces of medium go on, the more unlikeable everyone gets, because they’ll have more opportunities to do things that irreparably change their perception, or just get Flanderized.
So Phoebe got meaner, Joey got dumber, Monica got more obsessive, etc. Funnily enough, Chandler mellowed out the most since he was the most Character Gimmick at the start and then he just got more even (and boring).
Goes for other things, too, like How I Met Your Mother.
Last season of How I Mer Your Mother should’ve had the makeup crew subtly altering Josh Radnor’s appearance bit by bit each episode so that he slowly xenomorphed into Bob Saget.
I quite liked Chandler and felt it was more he grew up rather than grew boring. And then when he and Monica got together, he was a sweetheart (other than Janice, he did generally try to be a good partner. Bar occasional aberrations like saying he was moving abroad because he didn’t know how to break up healthily…). He kept his sense of humour and was a genuinely nice guy to Ross’s Nice Guy and Joey’s “nice for a night but if you expect commitment you’re in trouble” guy…

This is about my only take on Friends. (I know the link won’t work, but you can also find the video by searching for “After Hours Friends”. Should be the first one to pop up.
Given that Walky seems kind of wishy-washy about it (in sort of the same way he was wishy-washy about Lucy in the first place), yeah, Dorothy/Walky II is probably not going to last all that long.
What you’re not factoring in though, is that this time, Walky has occasional access to a Nintendo-brand video game console. Last time, Dorothy couldn’t soft-dom him into choosing Link on the Master Cycle, so the parameters are wildly different.
Okay but serious question, how else exactly did you expect her to respond to Amber here? Like, they aren’t close, and Amber’s reply of “that’s very good” is clearly knowing enough to warrant some confusion.
It’s kind of weird, because the onus was on her to be clear, but when she failed to be clear, the onus fell on Walky to clarify. That’s not super fair, but I do think that he probably should have made sure before sleeping with someone. The trouble is, he’s bad at confrontation.
If Walky took that to be an unambiguous break up (as I did and many other people in the comments section did) then it’s really not on him to clarify. Like, he doesn’t seem to be questioning whether or not he was broken up with, so I really don’t think he’s in the wrong here.
The actual fight might not have been a break-up, but the next day, when he tried to initiate convo, and she just froze him out? Yeah, at that point, him not trying to talk about the relationship with her was respecting that she was conveying a ‘done with this’ vibe.
I can sympathize with her being upset at how quickly he moved on, but even that is something you have to get used to as an adult.
She distanced herself and didn’t go to see him, for Walky that was an obvious sign. But since this was Lucy’s first courtship, obviously her way of dealing with it will be different.
I don’t know why, but I think Amber is still furious with Sal, who decided to take it out on her brother and make Lucy explode.
Sal and Lucy have barely interacted, and Sal definitely didn’t “make Lucy explode” at any point. Unless you meant to say “so she (Amber) took it out on her (Sal’s) brother”?
Exactly, yes, I saw my grammatical error very late.
Amber is still furious with Sal about the video game.
And to make things worse. Amber sees that Walky and Dorothy are together. Amber’s chance to let off some steam and not get her hands dirty and let Lucy do the dirty work.
(just look at that expression in the last panel)
Amber isn’t even in the last panel. Did you mean the next to last panel? Though I don’t find Amber’s expression there particularly informative. I’m looking for any evidence that Amber is trying to sabotage Walky to punish Sal and not seeing it. The idea seems a bit far fetched to me out of the box. Amber being honestly relieved that Walky isn’t getting back together with Dorothy while dating Lucy seems far more probable. We haven’t seen Amber being petty and it would be a large character change.
I’ve been wrong before, but at this point I would need a lot more in supporting evidence. Do you have any?
For what? She has less claim on Walky than Lucy does. Beyond the timing (being resentful of your ex’s second SO after you break up moves from reasonable to controlling), there’s also the fact that she committed battery, and Walky is better for being out of the relationship.
Violent acts are violent acts. This isn’t about the ‘legal system’, it’s about her emotional stability. Furthermore, she shoved him hard enough to knock over the table he was standing next to. Walky is not particularly physically fit, though he’s naturally lean; a fall like that could, in fact, result in real injury.
Everyone knows that witness protection sends you back to the same place you were before, down to the dorm room, with a new face, game station, sibling, and back story. Plastic surgery is that good. They can change your skin tone, all over, leaving no scarring.
They don’t give you a new name and back story and move you to a new place with your old face.
That second thing you said sounds dumb and boring. It’s like seeing the same actor in two different movies, except one of the movies is basically a rip-off of the other, so it’s not even really worth having both.
It’s only debatable if neither party has moved on. Once one party is sexing with someone else, the only “debate” is had by people who don’t want to accept reality.
It seemed like it but the real question is did Lucy intend for that to be it? Because if she thinks they’re just in a fight, things are gonna get real awkward real fast. Even still I think conventional wisdom is there’s supposed to be a window of time between a breakup and immediately rebounding with an ex. Regardless, this is (to our knowledge) the first time Lucy has had ever had a boyfriend, so how she handles anything is a big question mark.
Also if things are gonna get cranked up to maximum drama in the Mighty Marvel Willis Manner, it is worth noting that their whole breakup was caused because Walky didn’t stand up for her to his racist mom, and now he’s rebounding with Dorothy, who is white as hell.
Another ambiguity is Walky’s intent. He hasn’t said anything about getting back together with Dorothy. (Though she seems to think so. Deja vu!) What we know (and Dorothy knows on-camera) is that Walky saw her feeling awful and offered something to help boost her spirits.
The central issue is that Walky never really talks about deep feelings or relationships.
And then they continued cuddling, slept together a second time, and hung out naked on their phones for a while. They’ve actually always had fairly open lines of communication.
That’s how it started. How it ended was: He asks if they’re back together, she confirms she wants to be, he sets a pre-req for it (no talking about Joyce during afterglow) and she agreed to his terms. They are together. They both know they are together. Because it happened so quickly, he’s still got residual feelings about Lucy, but that ship has been torpedoed.
On one hand, we think it was clearly a breakup. On the other hand, Walky seems to feel it was a breakup. On the gripping hand, Lucy…who knows? Maybe not even her.
First breakups can be pretty messy, so like, we’ll see. It also might be rough just since, even if it’s an understood breakup, she wouldn’t have anticipated Walky bouncing back so quickly, even if that’s not dirty pool on his part.
Dirty pool means underhanded or unethical behavior, as in playing pool (the game*) in a dirty (dishonest) fashion. (I was pretty sure that’s what it meant from context, but honestly I had to look it up to make sure.)
* As best as I recall, pool is played roughly as follows: players take turns using their pool cues (sticks) to knock the cue ball (8-ball) into other balls to knock them into the pockets.
Yeah, dirty pool is basically just like saying bad form, etc. It’s just me saying that Walky would not have had to do anything wrong, per se, for Lucy to still potentially feel hurt, like both would be valid, shit happens.
Like I said to butts above, I’m not sure how else y’all expect Lucy to respond to this. She and Amber don’t know each other, and Amber reacting like she clearly knows something Lucy doesn’t is going to warrant some confusion
She first became interested in him after he broke up with Dorothy, when his main concern was making sure no one got hurt. He is allowed to date who he wants, but he has not given Lucy’s feelings the same consideration. It reinforces the idea in her mind that he doesn’t really care about her, which was the catalyst for the breakup in the first place.
I don’t think Walky does care for her very much; he certainly doesn’t care for Lucy the same way he does Dorothy. So I have to admit if Walky gets back with Lucy I would be extremely surprised, and rather disappointed by the decision. I really like Dorothy×Walky, but I have never been a fan of Lucy×Walky.
Yeah, she is. It’s just weird to find out your ex jumped into bed with his ex basically the day after. It’s his right yeah but, it’s weird. It’s only natural to have Feelings about that. It’d be especially hard not to for someone like Lucy who is already emotional and ended the relationship because she felt undervalued, and it was her first ever. I don’t get the people saying she doesn’t have a right to feel things about this. She does. She doesn’t have a right to tell him off or anything but she has the right to feel upset or whatever she feels about it. And I’m not even an “all feelings are valid” kind of person
Joyce’s comment to Sarah about ‘Sarah do you WANT to change?’ really got to her, huh. She’s really been making a concerted effort to open up and be nice since, we just got derailed from the end of that conversation because Joyce realized Dorothy wasn’t going to Yale.
Lucy what have you done to make yourself not an outsider, stealing Walky’s friends who weren’t really good friends to him anyways lol.
(That was a joke btw, she didn’t really steal his friends and I’m not upset at her), but seriously the wording implies that some big change has happened which changed her from being an outsider to part of the in group and I’m not entirely certain to what event she is referring.
Lucy spent time with Becky since they’re coworkers and go to church together, and obviously she has made overtures to Jennifer plenty of times, but outside of with Walky, she hadn’t really done much with the others, so she seems to be trying to do that now.
Sarah did an apology! I’m so fucking proud of her. And to all the people asking if Lucy really broke up with Walky, I’m pretty sure she knows. Her composure in talking about things, both here and when she was talking to Jacob, to me suggests she is secure in her decision. That said her response is totally reasonable, just because they’re broken up doesn’t mean she can’t have weird feelings about what Walky does afterward, or Amber weirdly implying something’s up, for that matter.
If you broke up with your ex because the feelings were stronger on your side, it absolutely sucks if they move on to someone else in a few days. Especially if that was their ex who you always suspected they might still have feelings for. Makes you feel like a stand-in.
“Because that gets in the way of five of my slash fics. … no, wait, six. …. seven…? … okay, that one comes down to which definition of ‘slash-fic’ you use.”
If DoA were a gacha game what rarity would Walky be? Would he be a 4 star common or a 5 star rare? Considering how many people want to bang him he might be a 5 star. What about other characters in the cast? Joyce for instance is probably a 5 star but maybe variants count too like Nightguy or Julia Gray.
Since I don’t know shit about gacha games (they’re expensive time sucks, that’s all I know), I’m assuming characters can only have 4 or 5 stars. So I’m going to say Walky is a 2 star common.
She doesn’t have to be. I’m guessing that Walky and Dorothy would be open to a polycule with Amber. I think all three of them have something that the others want/need:
– we know that Walky is open to a polycule (see when amber pretended to be his girlfriend)
– Amber gets to have a friend she can chill around and have sex with without necessarily having to do the girlfriend stuff if she doesn’t want.
– Dorothy gets Walky and has a boyfriend and can hang out with him and Amber to learn to chill and maybe teach them some organization, IDK she’ll probably not figure out how to do it Walky and Amber unless she thinks outside the box. She is going to try the traditional methods of organization which Walky and amber have probably already tried and failed at. (Don’t try to get me to explain the traditional methods of organization because I cannot.)
Amber-Walky-Dorothy is my favorite ship (and honestly could happen if they could get over the monogamy thing.)
“Alright, I’ve scheduled Walky and me for MWF, Walky and Amber for TRS, and threesomes on Sundays. Walky, remember to shower before visiting Amber. Actually, that goes for you too, Amber.”
Amber is in no way, shape or form fit for any kind of relationship, especially not the advanced form that is the poly relationship. She needs to really resolve her anger issues before she should be trusted to be with someone again.
I think Amber still has some level of feelings for Walky, judging by the dinner, but it’s certainly complicated. I don’t think she is envious per se, though, just knows it’s going to be a potential minefield.
Mmhmm. I’m reminded again of that poor dental assistant (whose name I’ve forgotten) whose dentist hooked up with Leslie after years of her trying to get said dentist to notice her. It really, REALLY hurts when the “it’s not you, it’s me” excuse turns out to be, yup, it WAS you all along.
Not saying that that’s the exact circumstances here with Walky and Lucy, but it’s the same sort of deal, pining so hard over someone and discovering that no matter what you do, you will always come second in their heart.
The ones you should be mad at are Dorothy, who came back with Walky because she needs an anti-stress, and Walky for showing that he’s like his father. He totally deserves a future with someone who leads him by the hand in everything, not someone who talk with him and consider him an equal.
It’s really inappropriate to call people blueberries. My father was killed by a blueberry, and so we’re about 14,783 other brave soldiers. Did you forget about the Highbush War in 1996, or is it just a joke to you? Ridiculous behavior.
Might be an interesting fact considering the subject of the day is Walky and who he bangs. We still don’t have hard confirmation him and Amber have done the sex. I might be wrong, but I’m pretty sure we haven’t seen it and neither have directly acknowledged it happening. While I personally believe they definitely fucked considering they were so actively horny they were dry humping and begging Dina to be a buffer between them, we just don’t know for sure.
But like….they had to right? They were dating for however long post kidnapping to Halloween was. Amber and Walky banged right? We may never know. If someone remembers them talking about it, let me know.
There’s a ‘DamnYouWillis69’ illustration of Amber mounting a dick with Walky’s skintone, but no Slipshine. I don’t think the DYW69’s are reckoned as canon.
For clarity’s sake, here’s everything Lucy has said to Walky starting from their fight. I think part of the confusion is that even though Lucy swears at Walky, she always ends with a see you later:
“you know what? fuck them. fuck them for making me think i needed to earn their respect. for jumping through their hoops. and fuck you for going along with it…..me too (i like to be liked). i need to be brave enough to know when i deserve better. see you at math tomorrow, walky.”
“yeah, it was (good to see you at math). see you wednesday.”
So, that’s two separate “See you another time” remarks, one of which is set multiple days ahead (after this little party, even!), a “fuck you” and an “I deserve better”. No communication in between those two exchanges, not even a text message.
And people wonder how we can read that as an unambiguous breakup. It’s a mystery somehow.
“uhhhhhh because walky is too immature and not good for you !! absolutely no other reason. dont look for him by the way. or dorothy. and maybe have a shot while youre here”
And there’s the other shoe dropping. Lucy didn’t break up with him, she just created distance. Walky, who is bad at reading signals and terrible at emotions, assumed the worst. We will now get “we were on a break” references as the drama begins.
If you have a fight with your partner that is so bad they believe they were broken up with, and then you don’t talk to them about it for days despite seeing them (and largely ignoring them) on one of those days, then they’re not in the wrong for assuming the relationship is over.
It’s not on other people to check what you meant when you said “I deserve better” and bounced.
In support of the “Lucy doesn’t think they’ve broken up” idea, I do find her repeated equivocating about why she’s here. In this scene, she’s not here “only” to bang Walky. When they met to walk to class, it was a “good question” whether she was there for Walky.
My prediction: tomorrow’s strip is going to be 4 or 5 silent panels of the dormroom door from the outside, followed by one silent panel of Lucy looking shocked and mortified and weeping.
Everyone wants a piece of the Walky XD
They forgot to get food for the party. Good thing Walky is a snack.
They just have to learn to take it one step at a time.
And Walky will either need witsec, or viagra.
BECAUSE
…gonna be LOTS of banging, not JUST Walky
IS ANYONE HERE NOT BANGING WALKY
you avatar fits your comment well
After a beat, Becky raises her hand.
After another beat, Dina deduces the meaning of the slang word and raises her hand as well.
well, Lucy, there is one person here who is not banging Walky
And that person is Lucy.
The majority of people here are not banging Walky, but there are still entirely too many people here who are banging Walky.
This seems right.
Or at least, that has been my experience as someone who is similarly unfettered from society’s BS expectations.
thats what walky thinks
I respectfully disagree. Walky’s a guy who got thru all of high school and showed up in college without that lightning jolt hitting him like it did with Dorothy. Without crafting, planning, or conniving, in about one semester, three nickels is a lot.
Hopefully none of them turn into the moon.
They’re attractive.
Also goofy isn’t bad.
And Sokka is extremely competent? He holds his own on a team where three other people have superpowers and the last one is a god.
Becky raises her hand. Most of the other girls look bashful, and bight their lips.
People who are almost definitely not trying to bang/banging Walky:
1. Sal
2. Jennifer
3. Becky
4. Joe
5. Ruth
6. Dina
7. Robin
8. Leslie
9. Mike
There’s no guarantees for anyone else, sorry.
If Joyce and Dorothy decide they want a poly relationship, I think Joe and Walky might consider it.
Not sure about Jennifer.
Jennifer attempted to bang Danny, and as we all know, banging Danny is the first step to banging Walky.
He’s the gateway lay
My logic was she basically broke up with Asher because he was becoming too Walky-like.
That’s just because she doesn’t want Walky-Lite. Real deal or nothing, baybeeeeee!
I was about to say Danny, but he’s bi and banging his twin sister. And they have the conditions for a hatefuck. So not completely out of the picture.
> Danny, but he’s bi and banging his twin sister
This is why subject introduction is vitally important before pronoun use. Danny’s last name is not Skywalker.
Of course not. It’s also not Solo.
This alone (heh) means he might bang both.
I think we can take Dina , Jennifer, Mike, Robin ,
( and maybe Joe ) off this list. I think he’s on the “why not” list for Ruth.
Mike is only on that list due to being currently indisposed.
Replacement Mike is either really uninterested or seriously in denial.
I’d say Booster and Carla and Charlie are also probably not banging Walky.
Lucy. Lucy clearly isn’t banging Walky.
True but her comment still leaves room for her wanting to.
Wait, is that an “at this moment” present tense, or “a routine activity” present tense? Because I don’t think either of those apply to anyone in this room.
Notably, Dorothy hasn’t come, yet.
Phrasing?
😉
Sarah: I am most definitely NOT banging Walky, and would not, given the chance.
Amber: …No comment.
That what a person who is going to bang walky says .
Incontrast to Lucy , who is never and said no many times
Sarah giving an unprompted sorry… maybe she really is growing and discovering emotions.
That or she’s been replaced by a robot GET HER
I mean I think she does have a sense for when she takes things too far
Yet she managed to say the full insult in the worst way. again.
If this was Raidah she might say the same thing.
Rule one of having an ex:
Please, please do not expect sex.
Yet Dorothy engaged in rebound sex with her ex.
Never said it doesn’t happen, just please don’t expect it.
She really thought she could dump him. in public
and she could keep him on the hook.
The problem I see is:
does SHE know she broke up with Walky?
Rule two: Do not expect your ex to not have sex with other people.
In fact, try to assume they’re gonna go fuck somebody who’s not you basically the instant you stop looking at them, once you’ve broken up. Like, of you say “We’re done. Goodbye.” and then turn around, you should be prepared to see them going down on somebody if you look back over your shoulder in that moment.
was this in public? where thery might have sympathizers ready to offer comfort. Does no one read St Victor anymore?
Who the fuck is St. Victor?
I suspect she doesn’t realize that she dumped Walky.
WE WERE ON A BREAK!The issue is: does Lucy think they’re broken up? Or does Lucy think they had a fight, which is a thing couples do, and will potentially reconcile?
Usually, couples don’t stop talking entirely after a fight. I figured if she wants to still be together, she can speak up instead of ignoring him. Otherwise, it’s a valuable lesson for her to learn.
I find it hard to tell the passage of time in-comic. Has it been a week since they fought? Two weeks?
I’m pretty sure it’s been a few days. It’s hard to tell. It was on a Sunday and the cast have been doing a bunch of weekend things during the week
It was Sunday, right after he went to church with her.
It’s now Tuesday.
They saw each other at the walking to class group on Monday, but didn’t talk.
they were dating, not married/engaged. having a fight and still being mad/not wanting to fix it literally the next day is not unreasonable. many people dating do not see/talk to each other every single day even if they aren’t fighting. many people who are closer than just dating need a day or two to clear their head after a big fight before they can talk it out and figure out if the relationship can be salvaged.
Yet now he keeps thinking about her after Dorothy used him to avoid her problems.
This is nonsense.
I don’t blame Amber: Walky and Dorothy are walking, tangled hands to everybody see it.
Are things about to get uncomfortable before the party even starts? Can Amber recover this by hitting on Lucy? Will one of the board games Jumanji them and interrupt this conversation before it can be resolved? Tune in next time to find out!
*Dragon Ball Z guitar riff*
Next time? Please we’ll cut away to something else then come back here in a week.
Yes, they do get Jumanji’d
Bad news it’s Monopoly
We’ve all been Jumanji’d by Monopoly.
I hate that you are correct.
This should be the tag line of the *entire* labour movement.
“Uncomfortable” and “Amber” often go together.
Usually it’s an uncomfortable silence, which would have been preferable in this entry.
big thanks to SNL for introducing “Jumanji” as a verb
But I have said things previously when trying to get my mom to play a board game with me, for example, like, “Come on, it’s not going to Jumanji you.”
she… she knows she broke up with him, right
Yeah, but still pretty understandable to be annoyed that he immediately rebounded back onto his ex.
Yep. Specially when Walky awkwardly let Lucy know he asked her out because Dorothy gave him the idea.
So far, this is fine, if she tries to make a big deal about it to their mutual friends/acquaintances or otherwise escalate the issue, then she’d be crossing over that line, but she has every right to be upset over this, it’s how she handles it going forward that might or might not have her crossing lines.
especially after avoiding sex with her, but not ever saying that’s what he was doing.
She told him to f*** off, so he did. IMO she lost the right to be angry about it. But it would be understandable to be somewhat emotionally wrought.
Actually, she said she needed time to think. I think Walky may have screwed up. Ironic, given that he seems to actually be thinking of her.
I think it’s possible she didn’t mean the same kind of break. Walky probably pulled a Ross.

Huh. Guess the links here do work. Okay.
If not, she’s about to find out. Maybe it’ll teach her to be more careful with her words.
And to try communicating with future partners after a fight rather than ignoring them for a day or two.
Like that’s a break-up to me, idc what was meant by it.
I suspect and kinda hope this will probably lead to Dorothy breaking up with him again out of guilt.
I hope you’re wrong.
Sorry, but I think they suck as a couple and had their chance. Their breakup is inevitable, in my opinion.
Lucy’s facial expression in the final panel does not indicate “confusion”. Note also the lack of a question mark in her dialogue bubble.
“See you at math tomorrow, Walky.”
Well he spent months not knowing she was his girlfriend, so I think the symmetry is appropriate.
I hope one of them asks her that question!
Oof, this isn’t going to turn out well. Walky doesn’t have a good history with girlfriends and parties.
The four parties I remember are:
The party Becky put on for Joyce with most of the cast. Dorky emerged unscathed.
Becky/Sarah’s birthday party. Walky and Amber were a kinda-sorta thing, and the party didn’t make that any worse.
Halloween: Made that worse.
Mama Macintyre’s posthumous birthday party: Nothing got worse.
So, he’s batting 75%?
75% matches without a career-threatening injury is *not* batting 75%
With that eye glaring out, I think I want a tag for the dinosaur.
I wonder if Dina gave the dinosaur has a name, or if she just refers to it by the scientific name.

Triassickaccomodation?

Did Walky & Lucy ever actually break-up?
It was unclear,
Seemed pretty clear to me. If that’s not what she meant to do then the onus was on her to be clearer.
amen to this
Agreed. I do think it’s plausible she didn’t mean to do this, but the signals she gave certainly suggest that to me.
What?
Run that by me again slower.
I hope Amber starts to hold a grudge against Dorothy.
For what? She has less claim on Walky than Lucy does. Beyond the timing (being resentful of your ex’s second SO after you break up moves from reasonable to controlling), there’s also the fact that she committed battery, and Walky is better for being out of the relationship.
Oh noes, she shoved him. Time to bring the United States legal system into it.
Yes.
They broke up.
It’s debatable.
Evidence: All the comments section debate on the topic.
It’s debatable if Mike is really dead.
I still think he’s in witness protection/ secretly disguised as Booster ect.
such a long con they made him a whole sibling for the act, truly amazing work from Uncle Sam.
Secretly disguised as Jenifer. Fixed that for you.
Regardless, this is (to our knowledge) the first time Lucy
hashad ever had a boyfriend, so how she handles anything is a big question mark. Also if things are gonna get cranked up to maximum drama in the Mighty
MarvelWillis Manner, it is worth noting that their whole breakup was caused because Walky didn’t stand up for her to his racist mom, and now he’s rebounding with Dorothy, who is white as hell.Another ambiguity is Walky’s intent.
They have absolutely talked about being back together. The first frame here is him asking and her confirming she would like to be:
https://www.dumbingofage.com/2024/comic/book-14/04-for-me-it-was-tuesday/sweeten-2/
And then they continued cuddling, slept together a second time, and hung out naked on their phones for a while. They’ve actually always had fairly open lines of communication.
And in the next strip he confirms that they are back together, just in case that was unclear:
https://www.dumbingofage.com/2024/comic/book-14/04-for-me-it-was-tuesday/participant/
Lucy is aware that she broke up with Walky, right? Lucy told him off, and she did not do anything to indicate that that they were on a “break.”
What are the odds this ends in Lucy crying, and leaving the party as a result?
First breakups can be pretty messy, so like, we’ll see. It also might be rough just since, even if it’s an understood breakup, she wouldn’t have anticipated Walky bouncing back so quickly, even if that’s not dirty pool on his part.
That’s fair; I certainly wouldn’t have been emotionally stable enough to have seen any of my ex’s at a party right after breaking up.
Also, dirty pool?
The cue ball is the white one. Hitting the 8 ball before you’ve knocked all of your others in is extremely against the rules
“Dirty pool” is “not cricket” if you’re British. ^_^
Yeah, that must sting either way, considering how much more quickly he jumped Dorothy compared to her. Even though he had every right to do so.
Furthermore, Dorothy has already gone through a moment of crisis and now she is finally given the opportunity to do things right.
I just hope Walky makes things clear and Lucy actually listens.
And yes, I’m of the side DorothyxWalky too.
Yeah I’m a big fan of DxW rather than LxW just because it never actually felt like Lucy wanted to date Walky so much as some idealized version of him.
Walky had friends?
I mean really, he had Jennifer and just got Dorothy? Joyce was a kinda hot-and-cold friendship and I don’t think Lucy stole her anyway.
That is true, I’m not sure what’s changed for the friend group. But maybe it’s just time and Lucy feeling more secure?
She is friends with Sarah and an acquaintance of most of the group, so now she is linked into the friend group I guess.
Lucy spent time with Becky since they’re coworkers and go to church together, and obviously she has made overtures to Jennifer plenty of times, but outside of with Walky, she hadn’t really done much with the others, so she seems to be trying to do that now.
*record scratch*
Only good things can happen here
Have some popcorn?
Unless this party quickly escalates to an orgy it is very good Lucy isn’t there to bang Walky.
The orgy chances really depend on what kinds of board games those are.
Any board game can lead to an orgy, if you’re creative enough….
For a second, I was wondering if Amber had any designs before I suddenly recalled:
OH! Right. Dorothy…
lol my brain did the same thing
“…Because we’re very happy for your personal growth, and are just so happy to have you as a more-invested part of our friend group?…”
“Because that gets in the way of five of my slash fics. … no, wait, six. …. seven…? … okay, that one comes down to which definition of ‘slash-fic’ you use.”
Callllllled. Ittttttt.
Everybody… Loves… Walky…?
Amber’s wearing green
with envytooShe doesn’t have to be.
“What about Amazi-girl?”
“Oh, right. Let me open my spreadsheet again.”
Who knew that jugs of moonshine led to DRAMA???
And they haven’t even cracked that keg open yet!
(from afar, joe mutters “it’s not a keg”)
Fuck
I feel like that’s actually not going to happen.
Mmm. My bad
Damn and here I was thinking we’d have to wait for Walky to show up before the everything went off the rails.
Low key these parties have consistently been the catalysts for shit to happen. This might be the third or fourth time drama happened at a party.
Let’s see, the Halloween party where Amber and Walky broke up. And of course the very first one that took place off-campus.
What else happened in between those two?
There was the party where Becky and Dina met, Becky/Sarah’s birthday party… am I forgetting any other parties?
You may or may not count the gathering with cake for Becky’s mom’s birthday
Wasn’t counting, because it didn’t occur between the first-week party and Halloween.
…. er, wait, are we talking chronologically, or in release order?
“I may no longer be here to bang Walky but I’LL BE DAMNED IF ANYONE ELSE GETS TO BANG HIM!”
Lucy’s about to learn the important lesson that you don’t own your ex’s genitals.
And that she is silly outsider and the bro/sis code does not apply to her
Lucy thinks this is a Meredith/Izzy situation between her and Dorothy (Walky is George), but the truth is she’s not even in the same show.
that’s not what’s happening at all
I’d suspected Walky and Lucy had very different reads on their last big conversation, seems we’re about to get confirmation one way or another.
Oh right, how long have they been broken up?
In our time, it’s been months. In their time, I think it’s been a couple of days. Some nerd has probably already done the math.
You’re correct! They broke up in “The Love I Haven’t Got”, which was two days ago in-universe.
https://www.dumbingofage.com/navigate/
Its only one Tuesday? it has to be a week. Carla chasing charlie ?
Two days.
quickly show him that you have also moved forward.
Jacob is single for example
Oooh and Sarah has been trying to remedy that, so that could be explosive too.
Oh man perfect grav for this. Rolled the dice and got a win.
Honestly, if Sarah invited Lucy to this party, and Lucy and Jacob immediately got together, that would be a little bit on her, lol.
In what way would that be on her?
Does Sarah have psychic powers I don’t know about?
Lucy can be aware she broke up with Walky and still be hurt that he’s banging his ex a few days later (especially when he wouldn’t bang her)
I think she may have hoped they would get back together, too.
Maybe “breaking up” was her attempt at a Jennifer-esque power move after all…
perfect execution. Same results
hahahaha. Well, better now than later in the party I guess
…SHIT.
I’m still team “they broke up”, but it doesn’t feel good when your ex immediately gets back with the girl you were insecure about.
Mindy (and the dentist was Anna)
Oh, hi Amber. And hello to you too, drama.
Hi, Amber! Hi, Super Nintendo Chalmers!
Cuz there’s a line now, bud haha
Amber, open mouth, insert foot.
Aww Sarah, that was kind of sweet. I will just ignore the last two panels and focus on the sweet part.
“Uh, we, uh, just think, um, you can do better. Yeah, that’s it. That’s the ticket.”
Perfection in gravatar.
HERE WE FUCKING GO
“Only” is the operative word
“I’m here to bang Walky and be a real part of this friend group, and I’m all out of Walky.”
Not bang, cockblock Walky
I guess she’s equally bad at both.
Ah shit, here we go
Ruh-roh.
I swear to fuck if Lucy ruins this for me I’m going to reee and she’s going back into my “most intensely disliked for no good reason” spot.
Seems to me like there would be a pretty decent reason, actually…
You’re right, I just think its a petty reason and thus not a good one lol
The ones you should be mad at are Dorothy, who came back with Walky because she needs an anti-stress, and Walky for showing that he’s like his father. He totally deserves a future with someone who leads him by the hand in everything, not someone who talk with him and consider him an equal.
You shut your blueberry mouth! Walky and Dorothy are great for each other!
It’s really inappropriate to call people blueberries. My father was killed by a blueberry, and so we’re about 14,783 other brave soldiers. Did you forget about the Highbush War in 1996, or is it just a joke to you? Ridiculous behavior.
pst. ‘I’m going to reee’ is 4chan slang mocking people with autisim (mimicking sound of meltdowns)
Lucy is gonna be mad he missed an opportunity to cockblock Walky
There is infact a slipshine between amber and walky…or at least amazi girl and walky
There’s a ‘DamnYouWillis69’ illustration of Amber mounting a dick with Walky’s skintone, but no Slipshine. I don’t think the DYW69’s are reckoned as canon.
Lol. Even official artwork isn’t solid confirmation that they banged!
My bad you’re right. I mixed up the Danny/Amber slipshine as Amber/Walky
4 way intersection up ahead
omg a 4-way???
oh, right, intersection.
Sarah could have just said “sorry about what I said before,” but then she would not have gotten to repeat the insult.
That’s good. Why? Well, um, because of of the stuff! And the things! Yes. The stuff and the things. Carry on.
♫♪𝄞 ‘cause I don’t wanna play those guessing games
(Don’t wanna) please, don’t make me play ’em, no ♫♪
ah, I guess that means they won’t be playin Guess Who? XD
That was intended to be a reply to thejeff, whoops.
It’s always a bad time if you’re playing Guess Who and draw Maria or Anne. I hope the characters have been re-balanced since the late 80s version.
My prediction: tomorrow’s strip is going to be 4 or 5 silent panels of the dormroom door from the outside, followed by one silent panel of Lucy looking shocked and mortified and weeping.
You think it’ll take 4-5 panels for them to say “Dorothy fucked him like an hour ago”?
Yeah I’m in favor of a single panel gif that’s just Amber putting her finger through a hole made by her other hand.
Ok I gotta admit I do like that better
Oh oh
Girl you broke up with him.
