Pretty sure Walky isn’t going to steal Danny’s current girlfriend from him, and definitely doesn’t plan enough to have intentionally stolen the previous ones. I was almost liking Danny for a second. Welp, back to square one (I Stan Mr. Walkerton).
This happened with Amber, too. What makes it worse is that, at least in Dorthory’s case and maybe also in Amber’s, is that one of the main reasons given for the breakup was that the girl wanted to focus on her studies and didn’t want to be distracted by a boyfriend (only to you know almost immediately get a new boyfriend in Walky rather than go back to heart broken Danny). If I recall correctly that is.
It was around a week later that Dorothy started seeing Walky, because she didn’t start looking at him like that until they went to the beach.
And Amber broke up with Danny because he kept wanting to hang around Sal AND wanted her to stop being Amazi-girl (or I should say Amazi-girl broke up with Danny); he didn’t realize that they were separate/separating nor did she want to stop, while Walky immediately accepted the situation.
I do not, however, remember how long they had broken up before Walky and Amber started dating.
A week isn’t really a long time for your HS sweetheart, who you were stupidly already building your life around, to start having make outs with some rando cheeto-covered hobo.
Yeah, Danny was a bit of an ass about Dotty’s dream to become leader of the free world, but he was still ride or die for her.
She drops the bomb after *not* breaking up with him before he took the same college as her, and her first reason was “I can’t be distracted by make outs” while she is now falling into the taco shell be’crumbed make-out nest of one David Pajama Jeans Walkerton.
And really, Danny not understanding he’s jumped into a one person poly pretzel because his new girlfriend uses dissociative coping mechanisms shouldn’t be something we fault him for. That’s a bit more bonkers then some rando dingus from fuck-all nowhere is used to dealing with.
She didn’t break up with Danny to not be distracted.
She broke up with him because she didn’t like that he made life decisions because he wanted to follow her AND because he treated her goal of becoming president as something she might grow out of.
So she didn’t lie to him or contradict herself by dating Walky later.
Also, I’m not holding it against Danny that he didn’t recognize Amber’s situation.
I wouldn’t have.
But that doesn’t change the fact that what he failed to accept in both women were things Walky readily accepted.
And anyway, I only explained why they broke up because True Survivor wasn’t sure about the reason, thinking it was similar to Dorothy’s reason.
Man, if she tries for Danny now and he does the “So I wasn’t wrong then” line I would squeal like Jonah Hill as she eviscerates him with her meaty claws.
I think it was the shoes favour that pushed it over the edge.Danny thought that with his little (petty?) dilemma Dorothy wouldn’t pick her boyfriend’s interests over something else she wanted, it just demonstrated that Danny wasn’t a valuable enough boyfriend to her to pick first.
Yes. He was Kermit with a blue ukulele instead of banjo, suggesting that he ordered a Kermit costume but couldn’t bring himself to let go of the ukulele and just be regular Kermit, or more strangely, that he cobbled the costume together from stuff he already had on hand (which maybe the case as the Kermit costume wasn’t that good and may actually have just been frog pajamas like Diana’s dinosaur ones).
I don’t think it’s like he hates him or anything, but they just don’t really interact much outside of times when Walky’s been kind of annoying. I don’t think he’s really been around for much of Walky’s more flattering moments, plus they’re just kind of opposite personalities in some ways.
That said, I’m sure if you got the two on the right topic, they’d find an accord.
Walkie is almost like his evil twin, or Hyde to his Jeckle. Or rather, they are both Hydes. Like they are both alter egos of the same dude, or something.
I think it’s one of those “Hate due to legality” things. Like Boston being obligated to hate the Yankees.
“My HS sweetheart left me and fell into smooching him, I must, by code of honor hate him tangentially until such time as I actually tenderly make the sex with his sister. Then we shall we square.”
I know some people are gonna take that pettiness poorly, but I’m ngl I love it. Made me laugh so hard I had a coughing fit. Walky’s not gonna steal your girlfriend this time, Danny, but I can’t say I blame him for having some slightly misplaced misgivings about hanging out with him lol.
You’d think they’d relate over having their heart broken over the same girl. Or the fact that there’s a non-zero chance that they’ll be brothers someday
So Danny and Walky together odds are its not going to go well either Walky will make an ass out of himself or Danny will Danny up the situation or both things will occur if so I feel slightly bad for Lucy (beacuse she she partially orchestratedthe situation and i beleive she was there when Walky described Danny and his situation vis a vi oroborous which made me want to play Xenoblade 3 but i ended up beating Res4 and now i am playing Tales of Arise), Sal at least can channel her energy into the match or be unaware.
Alternatively, it ends up going too well starting with it going badly. Petty pettiness to weird manly-man competitiveness over something (ie Mario kart) to Danny dannying it up and walky walkying it up to drunken singing and “you’re the soulmate I never knew I had” while Lucy and Sal are sitting there awkwardly watching, like it was one beer, guys.
Then it ends badly because Sal and Danny realise that walky is like the precise cross over of both of them.
It’s a 16″ pizza, chicken and spinach with cheese-stuffed crust. Comes with a nice salad, nothing too fancy but it’s not 95% iceberg lettuce and has some stuff you like on it. You have to suck the dick for at least 5 minutes, but they have a stopwatch so you know exactly how long is left, it’s not like they don’t let you know.
I kind of want to see Danny try beat the crap out of Walky. I like both of them, but I think a rehash of the Amber vs Sal fight but with far more incompetence yet equally stylized drama would be sort of funny.
ooooh yeah, yet another chance to link to a classic CXG song
“Real life fighting is awkward”
even if you know karate
you have to both agree to use karate
can’t just be one guy using karate,
you gotta have some rules
Okay, so other commenters have quite rightly pointed out that Walky’s unlikely to sleep with Danny’s ex this time, but now I’m imagining a scenario where Sal & Danny don’t fuck because halfway through, Danny realizes/recalls how much Sal looks like Walky, they break up over it, Walky and Lucy have broken up in the meantime and so Lucy and Danny end up fucking instead (because let’s be honest, they’d do pretty well together), and Danny feels an unwholesome surge of joy at finally doing to Walky what Walky has endlessly done to him.
…and then someone (who I won’t call Yotomoe, because that would be a really random made-up name to pull out of nowhere) will draw Sal and Walky “consoling” each other and finally realizing they were made for each other and this is the only way to avoid exes getting confused. Because this is the internet, and that’s what happens on the internet.
People are bringing up that Walky dated both of Danny’s exes and that’s why he’s petty.
Which is true.
But some like this reason for the pettiness, and I don’t get that.
Walky didn’t even know Danny when he started messing with Dorothy.
And I’m not sure when he found out Danny and Amazi-girl dated (he does know, I’m just not sure when he knew), and if you want to be technical (or at least argue over it) Danny could be said to have dated Amazi-girl and/or Amber (depending on when and how far along their separation occurred), but Walky definitely only dated Amber.
All that is to say, I don’t really care for petty Danny.
Petty Danny is probably my least favorite versions, mainly because it seems unjustified.
He (and Amber) even talked mess about Walky unprovoked (which I’m not sure Walky ever did about them).
I prefer the version of Danny who owns his dorkiness.
That version of Danny is so dorky he almost circles around back to cool.
Petty Danny is sitting firmly in the “not cool” section of the room or graph (pick your metaphor) for me.
I mean it’s a little weird Dotty broke up with Danny to focus on her studies and then got together with Walky pretty quickly Amber broke up with Danny I can’t remember but then got together with Walky pretty quickly it’s not a surprising why he’d be a little petty. Especially with Dotty since Danny kind of followed Dotty to U of Indiana.
She didn’t break up with Danny to focus on her studies.
She broke up with Danny because she didn’t like that he basically made his life decisions around being with her while also not supporting her goal of becoming president.
Similarly to how Amber broke up with Danny for not getting that she and Amazi-girl were or at least were becoming separate.
Walky supported both of them in those two aspects that Danny didn’t.
That’s not quite true either. She was blatantly aiming to break up with him even before that, had hoped he was going to go to a different school to spare her having to actually do it, and the president comment was just the straw that finally broke past that awkwardness.
I like less petty Danny better, too. However, this comic requires characters to overcome their flaws so Danny needs a new one to conquer and I think, so far, that the struggle has at least been entertaining to watch. I do feel some of the pettiness is slightly justified (if not towards Walky) because, at least in Dorothy’s case, the reason given for dumping Danny was to focus on her studies without distractions, only for her to turn around start snogging Walky almost immediately. Still art is subjective and my comic analysis skills are far from perfect. That’s why I went into biology.
That is why I pick the graph metaphor. Fun Fact: A truly staggering amount of peer reviewed biology papers are just graphs that take 40 minutes to figure out because while they look like standard line graphs at first they are in fact staggeringly more complicated with large sections of relevant information buried in half a sentence found four pages back.
Does Danny really need a new flaw? Because last I checked he was in no way over his previously established flaw of saying really fucked up shit because he lacks a brain to mouth filter.
Danny doesn’t have to be around anybody he doesn’t want to, and some reasoning isn’t gonna have the best logic. Is it misplaced? Yes, definitely. Is it funny? Yes, on this strip it is funny. As far as we have seen, the disdain for Walky has yet to cause him to lash out at anybody, so it’s not really problematic pettiness. It is humorous pettiness.
Basically, if it doesn’t hurt anybody and Danny isn’t making weird ultimatums like “You can’t hang with your brother with me around” (which I don’t think is the case in this situation, I think if Sal indicated this was something she actually wanted then he would bend), then it’s the exact same as someone grumpily pouting in the corner over nothing.
I don’t think Walky necessarily deserves it. But if you date two of a dude’s exes, even accidentally, you kinda have to make peace with the fact that he’s probably not gonna be super happy to be around you. Especially because Walky almost certainly would mention it because he also thinks the situation is funny.
Never said Danny has to be around Walky, and don’t really care if he is or if they’ll get along when they are.
I’m just mentioning my feelings for petty Danny in comparison to the majority of the comments at the time I made mine.
It’s less about his reasons for being petty and more about why people LIKE his reasons for petty/like him being petty.
I guess going into the logic behind his pettiness muddled the point some, but I personally need to agree with a character’s reasoning for pettiness to enjoy it.
Petty Danny is not likeable. But his pettiness is expressed as this kind of absurd petulance that’s adorably childish. It’s funny. Sometimes it works really well, like when he confronted Amber and Sal having made up. Sometimes it works really badly, like when he confronted Ethan over Mike. But it’s always moment of being weirdly too big for his britches.
And the only reason it’s petty instead of justified is that Walky did not do it on purpose. That part’s built-in.
Petty is as petty does. It’s not petty to feel like you don’t like someone and prefer to avoid them (tho that will eventually get really awkward if Danny keeps dating Walky’s sister). If Danny goes around telling people Walky did something wrong, *that* I would call petty.
It’s not actions that make you petty.
It’s the reason behind the actions that make them petty.
Likewise, it’s the reason behind the feelings that make them petty.
And even that is subjective.
But I think most people would agree that if the specific reason Danny doesn’t want want to be around Walky is because Walky dated Dorothy and Amber after he did, and no other reason, that would be petty, regardless of if he takes any action against Walky.
That said, I and others are basically assuming the reason is because of dating Danny’s exes and there could be other reasons simply not stated.
Keep in mind that “petty Danny” is not going out of his way to cause problems for walky. He doesn’t randomly criticize him or constantly badmouth him to his own friends.
If the end result of his pettiness is “I don’t want to be forced to interact with walky in a social setting”, that’s not too bad. (Remember this is a comic that contains ridah and Jennifer, both characters that go out of their way to cause problems for others).
It could be that Walky keeps reminding him that he “made out” with both his exes.
Or it could be he noticed Sal’s frustration with Lucy and is being petty on her behalf.
I think it’s maybe even less just this one moment or the shoes thing in the past, and more just Walky’s the sort of personality that is really annoying to some people. I’m sure he’d get past it if they talked much, but they just kind of bump into one another now and then just long enough for Walky to be abrasive.
If you look two strips prior, Danny was already basically dressed with just his sleeves rolled up (and looks like tie untied) when Joe kicked open the door and apparently did not close it behind him
This entire weird conversation is because Lucy got under Sal’s skin, and Sal’s broadcasting that. Danny’s not fond of Walky, but had Sal actually wanted Danny to hang out with Walky and Lucy, I bet he would have with no objection.
Here’s another thing Danny and Walky can relate on-
Walky: Amber is still crossed with me about what I said about Mike, but maybe I was being an ass. Probably could have been worse though, If I could think of something worse I could have said.
Danny: (Remembering what he said to Ethan before the night Mike Died)….nope your wrong I can’t think of anything worse.
Mike might have been a bastard in certain regards but Danny only ever had a couple of short conversations with him, not enough to act like he knew him as well as Ethan or Amber did. The only real reason he personally had to be pissed with Mike himself was that he nailed his crush at the time and if he was like the good egg he was so proud of being he wouldn’t have let himself act like anything close to the monster Danny claimed Mike was at the time.
Look back at his last conversation with Mike, at the birthday party.
He was pissed at Mike for what he’d been doing to Ethan and Amber, not for himself.
Regardless of whether he was right or not, walking up to someone grieving and badmouthing their dead is… not good. They’re emotionally involved, you aren’t, the onus is on you to be understanding. There will be time for your (legitimate) grievances that isn’t over a still warm body.
(Yes Mike wasn’t *technically* dead, but everybody was coming to terms with the idea he might be)
Having a problem with her mom makes perfect sense, her mom sucks. And from what I remember, Amber had more of a problem with Sal (for fairly understandable reasons) than the other way around.
Sal had a problem with Amazi-Girl and disagreed with her actions, though she did also come to respect her. Amber, she really didn’t get an opportunity to form an opinion on until well after they came into conflict, by the time they made peace.
To be fair, I think there are reasons for this. Lucy is dating her twin brother and is very…earnest. Malaya is such a contrarian and button-pusher as to need no real explanation. Amber is a complicated person(s) who literally tried to fight Sal as a vigilante and once stabbed her, and her mother is a favorite-playing so-and-so who doesn’t really embody the nurturing archetypes of the mom role.
Like, Sal doesn’t really get along with most people. I’m not sure gender is a major factor or a coincidence in these particular cases.
If this was D&D, Walky would have literally the highest charisma of the cast. You don’t have to like him, but it’s clear that he’s very likable within this world.
I’d like to think Danny correctly interpreted Sal’s comment in panel 3. It’s not like he has to worry about Sal breaking up with him and then dating Walky.
OK in all fairness, Walky didn’t plan on hooking up with Danny’s last 2 exes shortly after they both left him that’s just how it all turned out.
Though I will haft to admit Walky constantly making the heartbreaks of Danny’s love life into a punchline for another one of his jokes aren’t helping…even if it is funny as hell.
Okay, if nothing else, it’s plain from this conversation that Sal didn’t want Walky and Lucy to come. Walky’s *ahem* brotherly support *cough cough* aside, Danny can see that this is bothering Sal, and doesn’t want her to stress out. Maybe he holds a grudge maybe not. Either way, this is the best decision.
Honestly, I’m with Danny on this one. So long as you’re clear that this is a personal dislike, and not a fact-of-the-universe objective condemnation, and you’re not using it as a reason to cause real harm, you’re not required to like anyone.
yup. I honestly forgot about the Walky dating Danny’s exes thing and read it as “oh he just doesn’t like Walky and/or Lucy” or, like Sal, he’s not a huge fan of them as a couple. sometimes people just annoy you for like no discernible reason and that’s fine.
I feel like Danny is kind of picking up on Sal not wanting to have this “double date” thing with Lucy and Walky and is willing to be the petty one here rather than put up with it. I doubt he “hates” Walky but I super doubt he wants to be around the guy
I checked to see how much interaction Walky and Danny have had. I skimmed through the Danny + Walky tag – which is always fun, cuz it makes me feel like I’m shipping them
Super duper early in the comic, Walky (and Dororthy) borrow a pair of shoes from Danny after Walky loses his. Aside from that, they mostly happen to be at the same place or at the same parties. They don’t have a lot of direct interaction.
I want to give credit to my editors, who asked me to write 2,000 words on why Andrew Tate wears such tight pants. I submitted 3,700. They asked if I really needed to start with a story about the industrial revolution and I said "yes, absolutely don't cut."

Today in #9ChickweedLane I learned that if you have two identical characters on opposite sides of a symmetrical object, it helps to show more than their foreheads as you arbitrarily swap back and forth between them for ANY FUCKING CLARITY OF ACTION
weird thing I learned this week from my comments is that if you don't preface all your interactions with everybody with whether you're sexually attracted to them or not, you're being predatory
which honestly sounds like it'd be an HR disaster at work if you ask me

Obligatory regularly-scheduled reminder that I'm still looking for work! I'd love to stay in anticarceral and/or LGBTQ+ advocacy and policy spaces, but I'm open to--and have experience and flexibility that support--a wide range of fields and jobs!
Today in #9ChickweedLane I learned Polly doesn't like her geriatric fiancé, not even a little bit. She hates when he says literally anything and wishes he'd just shut up and bone her but he's not even good at that. Good thing she immediately agreed to marry him after exactly one sentence exchanged.
This is a great reminder that protests, boycotts, public outrage, and criticizing your political leaders for inaction on both sides of the aisle work. Those who attack our democracy are not invulnerable. When we fight back, we win.

“GQP” is a way of referring to the GOP/ Republican Party while making reference to the frankly alarming degree of influence QAnon membership and related conspiratorial antidemocratic groups has in both the leadership and the voting membership.
Petty? Does Danny have something against Walky or Lucy? Have I missed or forgotten something?
Walky dated his Ex. Like RIGHT after she dumped him.
Twice.
And then he didn’t even get a shot with Lucy, first!
Pretty sure Walky isn’t going to steal Danny’s current girlfriend from him, and definitely doesn’t plan enough to have intentionally stolen the previous ones. I was almost liking Danny for a second. Welp, back to square one (I Stan Mr. Walkerton).
Dorothy dumped Danny and promptly got with Walky. Danny still holds a grudge.
And the irony now is that Dorothy is seriously considering giving up on her Presidential dreams in order to stay with Walky. XD
Man, if she tries for Danny now and he does the “So I wasn’t wrong then” line I would squeal like Jonah Hill as she eviscerates him with her meaty claws.
”one person poly pretzel” is not something I thought I see today but here we are
Asher’s expression is pretty much perfect for this comment.
When it comes to romance yes, we seen this on occasion.
Was Danny at the Halloween party when Walky made a huge ass of himself?
Banjos are expensive!
So are Kermit costumes!
Looking back through the Halloween party chapter, it just looks like a hoodie with Kermit eyes pinned to it.
That was also the last time we saw Danny and Walky in the same place at the same time.
Kermit did play a uke on The Muppet Show a few times.
Two for Tea.
Eet rof Oot.
I mean Walky has dated everyone Danny has broken up with Dorothy and Amber. But i guess dating Sal will break the cycle. At least I hope…
Apparently everyone decided to respond at the exact same moment with the exact same answer sorry for that.
Danny’s gonna fuck this up by making this exact statement. Like hitting a Cloyster with a taser.
You had to choose Cloyster.
wouldn’t that be super effective though?
Man approaches with a taser, a rock, a wooden club, and a boxing glove: I AM HERE TO FUCK UP SOME CLOYSTERS
Walky hasn’t dated Ethan yet.
But I hope even Danny recognizes that *he* Danned that one up, all by himself.
Danny never made it to the point of dating Ethan anyway so it doesn’t count. He danned it up at the critical moment.
Probably Walky due to his history with Dorothy, though I think it’s a relatively mild sort of antagonism

Walky did date both of his exes. Which would really be a petty reason for Danny not to like him. I side with the loaf.
Danny’s REALLY calling his bluff by dating Sal.
It must feel weird to hate someone and also be dating someone that looks exactly like them and is their twin. Don’t get a haircut, Sal!
I would be surprised if Danny’s feelings here amounted to actual “hate.” Like Sal implied, he’s just a little petty.
You’d think so, I’m just goin by the alt text
Never mind, I just read the alt-text.
Actually now that I think about it, the whole thing comes full circle cause Walky was with Amber, who held a lifelong grudge towards Sal
This killed me
Danny always seems to drop the “Too nice for their own good pusher over” shtick whenever it comes to romantic rivals.
I mean, this is quite possibly the most minor petty thing I’ve ever heard of.
oh, so I’m Carla now.
Fairly poetic, you have to admit.
You’d think they’d relate over having their heart broken over the same girl. Or the fact that there’s a non-zero chance that they’ll be brothers someday
LOL. I feel like this genuinely made Sal feel better. Good job being appropriately petty, Danny!
I don’t think it all stems from Lucy’s over-eagerness at love. I think it stems from JOYCE.
Also, he may be petty, but he still thinks Walky’s hot
Danny scored with the one chick Walky cannot score
smart guy
Really? Danny and Sarah?
Sarah has to fall for someone sooner or later
it may as well be Danny
or Walky
If we ever get Beef in this one, he’d be a good match. Has Jacob’s stronk and he doesn’t talk much.
walky’s not tall enough for sarah, apparently
oh lol
So Danny and Walky together odds are its not going to go well either Walky will make an ass out of himself or Danny will Danny up the situation or both things will occur if so I feel slightly bad for Lucy (beacuse she she partially orchestratedthe situation and i beleive she was there when Walky described Danny and his situation vis a vi oroborous which made me want to play Xenoblade 3 but i ended up beating Res4 and now i am playing Tales of Arise), Sal at least can channel her energy into the match or be unaware.
Point is I still need to beat Xenoblade 3
Alternatively, it ends up going too well starting with it going badly. Petty pettiness to weird manly-man competitiveness over something (ie Mario kart) to Danny dannying it up and walky walkying it up to drunken singing and “you’re the soulmate I never knew I had” while Lucy and Sal are sitting there awkwardly watching, like it was one beer, guys.
Then it ends badly because Sal and Danny realise that walky is like the precise cross over of both of them.
Oh yeah I kinda forgot that whole Danny’s-exes-keep-rebounding-onto-Walky thing
…I may need to do a refresher binge
Well that’s probably not gonna happen a third time in a row
I certainly hope not.
There is the chance that Walky and Danny date eachother Walky might be hetroflexiable.
He did make an offer to Jason as I recall
He also said he’d suck a dick for free pizza.
I mean…how long do I have to suck the dick? And what size pizza? There’s variables.
Whats the girth on the dick?
Then sure. Honestly sounds like a bad deal for the pizza buyer.
It was regular ol pepperoni from Galasso’s
https://www.dumbingofage.com/2015/comic/book-5/04-walking-with-dina/jim/
Wait til Walky tells Danny this:
“Hey, Dorothy wanted to torpedo her studies over me! Can you imagine! She said she dumped some loser because he threatened her studies.”
And the saga just keeps getting better as it continues.
I kind of want to see Danny try beat the crap out of Walky. I like both of them, but I think a rehash of the Amber vs Sal fight but with far more incompetence yet equally stylized drama would be sort of funny.
So basically Richard v Walt in Knives Out.
I’m thinking Xander vs. Harmony in Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
ooooh yeah, yet another chance to link to a classic CXG song
Jesus… Why did you make me read that last paragraph with my face eyes? They were perfectly untarnished, thank you.
Please look at my gravatar and tell me your face eyes were ever untarnished.
Ohhhh yeeeaahh, you’re right. Good memory.
That’s a fair point.
And you can full be both petty and justified in your pettiness.
They’re not mutually exclusive.
Petty is as petty does. It’s not petty to feel like you don’t like someone and prefer to avoid them (tho that will eventually get really awkward if Danny keeps dating Walky’s sister). If Danny goes around telling people Walky did something wrong, *that* I would call petty.
Then I, Sal, and a number of other commenters will simply have to disagree with you on what counts as petty here.
As you like. My attitude is that it’s generally not a good idea to judge feelings as if they were actions
They haven’t hung out much, what else does he have to remember him for?
I think it’s maybe even less just this one moment or the shoes thing in the past, and more just Walky’s the sort of personality that is really annoying to some people. I’m sure he’d get past it if they talked much, but they just kind of bump into one another now and then just long enough for Walky to be abrasive.
Was Danny just getting dressed while standing in front of the open door?
If you look two strips prior, Danny was already basically dressed with just his sleeves rolled up (and looks like tie untied) when Joe kicked open the door and apparently did not close it behind him
This entire weird conversation is because Lucy got under Sal’s skin, and Sal’s broadcasting that. Danny’s not fond of Walky, but had Sal actually wanted Danny to hang out with Walky and Lucy, I bet he would have with no objection.
looks like it was all disliking Walky after all.
Danny was right about Mike. That Ethan was infatuated didn’t make Mike any less of a monster.
Oh yes in their words He did plenty of “Mike things” to Ethan at the time. Oh the absolute horror of…dicking him down.
Regardless of whether he was right or not, walking up to someone grieving and badmouthing their dead is… not good. They’re emotionally involved, you aren’t, the onus is on you to be understanding. There will be time for your (legitimate) grievances that isn’t over a still warm body.
(Yes Mike wasn’t *technically* dead, but everybody was coming to terms with the idea he might be)
The amount of petty that gets Sal out of doing stuff she didn’t wanna do! We love it. XD
It’s either too petty or hardly petty, but the perfect amount of petty? that’s like finding 3 flawless pearls in just one clam.
You say “petty”, I say “has some boundaries and is willing to assert them”.
The world is a small thing, and I am smaller, with my own petty concerns.
Lucy. Malaya, Amber, her own mom… .Sal has a problem with other women. It doesn’t necessarily her fault, but it’s something that follows her.
Malaya has been a consistent jerk to her, amber stabbed her, her mom is abusive.
Her best friend, Marcie, is female.
I guess she had feelings for Sal. That brought some problems for them.
So, I’ll put her in the list.
Really? She looks like she get along more with boys. Even being dominant, in the Jason case…
I, for one, think that her sexual attraction to men and her personal issues with a handful of non-males may be separate and unrelated.
Malaya’s also not a woman, even if one of her pronoun options is she/her lol
Indeed.
Sounds perfectly reasonable of Danny, after all he knows Walky so why would he want to hang out with him
Mood
If this was D&D, Walky would have literally the highest charisma of the cast. You don’t have to like him, but it’s clear that he’s very likable within this world.
I’d like to think Danny correctly interpreted Sal’s comment in panel 3. It’s not like he has to worry about Sal breaking up with him and then dating Walky.
This isn’t that kind of comic, and they probably drink Chock Full O’ Nuts at the Walkerton house anyway.
Thankfully, it’s unlikely to happen a third time.
Did Danny ever get his shoes back? I cannot remember for the life of me.
It’s 100% grudge-related, but that’s still probably fine. Awkward roller derby bleachers scene was not really mandatory for the story to move along.
I just want to see how this affects Lucy’s “third date” counting.
I think most people can point to discernable reasons to find Walky annoying.
I appreciate them.
Danny having a boundary and just saying what he feels without pretending to be ok: #goals
Really a good thing Sal dodged the double-date bullet, in retrospect.
Dally FTW!
(Forgot if Sal was short for something… Nonetheless I like this ship name.
)
It’s short for Sally, which is not usually short for anything else these days.
Here’s a gem, by the way, in which Danny vents about some of his feelings re: Walky
https://www.dumbingofage.com/2019/comic/book-10/01-birthday-pursuit/hotsecond/
