I mean, given that he took notice of Walky (even a little) the day his hair made him incredibly sexy, I’d say it’s at least possible on Asher’s side! And I’m for it, based solely on the fact that it would be HOT.
I am now writing a fic in my head where the day ends with Walky remarking something along the lines of “man, that Asher really is hot tho” and Lucy going “I know right” and then they do a double take and then after a thoughtful pause are like “are you thinking what I’m thinking”
The question is how long will Jennifer keep her silence? She likes to think of herself as the Alpha bongo, having Radiah flat out dismiss her in favor of somebody she considers beneath her while her own boyfriend pays no attention to her in favor of Walky might be pushing her to her limit.
Only the worst? Really? I mean, yes, she’s often a bit of an asshat, but she’s still also the reason that Joyce isn’t curling into a ball of pain anymore. Generally, she ~wants~ to be like Raidah, but her actual instincts run counter to that goal, causing her to act out of caring for people that she, herself, would like to deny. (Hell, even here, she’s trying to nudge Walky into being a more caring and expressive boyfriend.)
She’s dating Asher, but I don’t see that as particularly horrible–he’s given her no reason to doubt his generally pleasant demeanor, and he’s been honest with her about his background.
I’m just hoping she doesn’t fall into the trap of becoming that which she is pretending to be.
Meanwhile, wishing the worst on her means that it isn’t being spent on Raidah, who I submit is far more worthy of such approbation.
Jennifer, an unstoppable force, meets Raidah, an immovable object. Both of them don’t think people matter, but now Jennifer is getting a taste of her own medicine.
Yes.

Wow. If Raidah tells you to lighten up, Jennifer, perhaps you need to look at yourself. Then again, it all could be part of Raidah’s OverArching Plan of Something.
Raidah seems like the type to scheme without having a real endgoal in mind. She seems to just be constantly putting people and plans together in an effort to climb the social ladder with it, but seems to have little actual direction to it.
Honestly? At this point it wouldn’t surprise me if it turns out she turned in Sarah’s old roommate too, and just let Sarah take the fall from it.
i wonder how much of this is fake, even, tho sal and walky aren’t close (also because of asher) i don’t know if i’d be able to fake friendliness with him
Fake from Asher or Walky? If the former, maybe, but honestly Walky is basically friendly to everyone. The hard part is the other person being willing to put up with him.
I guess it’s a little weird Walky suddenly likes Asher since he’s one of the main reasons Sal was sent away, but Sal seems to have forgiven him even if she doesn’t trust him so guess Walky liking him now is plausible.
You know more worrying things about Asher than Walky does, who also probably has positive associations we don’t know about. He and Asher weren’t close as kids, but they knew each other
That’s very true.
They’ve also had 3 months of time skip to interact.
Not to mention that Asher is almost universally acknowledged as attractive and cool.
Plus we know Walky will make an effort to accept Jennifer’s partners even when he doesn’t like them himself.
They did have time, but we also know that Asher basically didn’t acknowledge Walky until his hair got long enough to be hot and I don’t think he even knew Jennifer and Asher were together until after the break.
Sal basically told him that she already knew and that Asher was only partially to blame as they all had a hand in the fallout.
So it’s not like he thought punching him automatically made everything better.
In a twist, Lucy breaks up with Walky because she realizes he’d make a much better couple with Asher. (As another take on the above comment of “they should bang.”)
BUT I also enjoy depictions of male friendships. So maybe they just bang as friends.
I don’t know why, but panel 3 Jennifer reminds me of a frog – a very livid frog. Possibly because, Walky just disrupted some sort of strange reverse amplexus thing she thinks she has going on with Asher (she does seem very insecure about her status and relationship still).
I think I could grow to dislike this new smug and snarky Walky. Very quick with the diss. But it’s about time B’Jennifer was paid back for her non-stop Walky and Lucy insults.
Honestly, it might genuinely help Jennifer for Walky to teach her some social skills. She does have some, but there are a lot of holes in there. Especially of the “you’re not required to be friends with dickheads” variety.
I still predict that this will probably end with Walky walking (ha ha) out on everyone
Radiah seems unsuprised so i suspect even more now that Asher is in on her ‘get Walky to like us’ scheme. If so she’s slightly better at manipulation then the last strips suggested.
I can’t tell if her and Carl acting like they like Walky’s antics is part of her networking scheme or part of her grudge against Sarah & Joyce scheme.
I expect Asher isn’t in on Raidah’s plan, he’s just fun to be around when he’s not involved in getting possible snitches/loose-ends like Blaine or Amber killed. Or a kidnapping that almost ended in a mass murder.
Do we know whether Asher knew what Blaine was planning? His knowledge might have extended no further than “pull the fire alarm.”
In fact, Blaine’s involving the big man’s grandson in his stupid scheme could have factored into the decision to get rid of him. If the fire alarm was traced to Asher it could have become very awkward.
It is deeply and almost certainly deliberately ambiguous what Asher knew, about anything at any step on the line, besides “Blaine is blackmailing me into pulling this fire alarm,” presumably anything that made morning news, and being texted “It’s done” after Lester shot Blaine.
Asher was told by Blaine that he wouldn’t hurt Amber, just scare her, or something to that effect (but that Amazi-Girl, he wanted revenge on,) but that may or may not have been believable. Blaine was able to fool people in the past, but apart from his abuse victims (who we didn’t see with him until AFTER he’d been abusing them for some time so we can’t judge what they were like at first,) he’s mostly targeted the gullible or had social niceties to fall back on – with the Saruyamas we didn’t SEE how he got his way in, but we can gather from Dina’s explanation and her parents’ apologies (and similar speech patterns to Dina, which MIGHT suggest they’re also autistic) that he banked on “but I’m a concerned father and I just want to see her briefly” or something like that and the idea that refusing him would be rude, probably fairly similar to the way he lured Danny in as a hostage. We know how he played Ross and that act was TERRIBLE. So it’s a good question how well Asher would buy it compared to them as opposed to, say, Mike.
Did Blaine know what Blaine was planning? Because none of that entire segment looks like it was in right mind and with reasonable forethought planned by Blaine, especially after he straight-up murdered his crime partner out of rage and then stood there like “omfg why did I do that what now??”
I think the text means that was Asher that ordered Blaine to be killed. Probably after the whole thing got public. So he may not have known the full extent of Blaine’s plans before they became public and decided that the punishment for executing them (or failing to execute them and outing himself in the process) was death.
Or maybe Asher just texted someone “this fucker is blackmailing me, pls do something about it” and was then updated along the lines of “one something, done”
Since I doubt he’d want anyone capable of doing something about it to know he was being blackmailed, I assume the text was more along the line of “One of your stooges just got himself busted in a stupid scheme. You might want to take care of that before he turns evidence for a deal.”
I’m surprised that Asher and Walky are so cool with each other since their last interaction was Walky punching him for getting Sal busted. It would not be unreasonable for them to be cold yet civil to each other, but instead of that they’re instant bros? huh
I love everything about this strip lol. Probably not great that Asher and Walky have more chemistry with each other than their respective partners (though I will say that the previous page was very sweet and I liked the Walky/Lucy interaction!)
It doesn’t help that Jennifer/Asher has Doomed By Inevitable Mobster Peril written all over it and Walky/Lucy has Oh Honey, Honey, NO all over IT, to be sure. But with Sal apparently over the Asher thing and Jennifer dating him (or Walky legit forgetting this guy sold out Sal because that was a VERY EVENTFUL part of the semester I suppose, I would not blame him after that chaos because ADHD plus getting kidnapped a few days later,) apparently he and Asher are just two peas in a pod and it is FUN.
Sal did pretty much tell him she appreciates Walky trying to stand up for her, but she already knew, and that they all had a part to blame in her being sent away (which was really the biggest thing that seemed to bother Walky, not the betrayal itself nor the fact that the whole situation could have very easily led to Sal being killed).
A genuine friendship is both fantastic on its own and equally fantastic as a basis for any other type of relationship: romantic, sexual, coworkers, co-parents, crew on a fantasy airship…
…Anything but business partners. Never go into business, as a founder or independent partner, with a friend. That shit has a ridiculously high chance of exploding. Capitalist professionalism and genuine affection are like water and sodium.
What Dorothy said about him being most loveable when he is a cocky goofball wasn’t wrong but it was also that kind of thing that you should never tell someone because it only really works when they don’t know it.
Walky is way too full of himself and the fact that Raidah and Asher, two of the worst people in (the student part of) the cast are warming up to him is a big red flag.
Hard to say at this point if their genuinely warming up to him or pretending since Radiah was planning from the beginning to pretend to like him no matter what. Apparently Jennifer didn’t get the memo.
Huh. Weirdly enough I can kinda get on board with this lol. They’ve never spoken, but the “Mob kid trying to leave and struggling to” and “Sweet person who can be an anchor in the storm while believing wholeheartedly in his inner goodness” is a hypothetical ship dynamic that I can totally get behind.
This is the first time in a LONG time, that I have felt Walky is being an absolute ass… (Even if B’Jennifer rather deserves it for her treatment of her ‘friends’- especially Walky)
Haha oh yes I agree. I think this friend group is going to become even more smug and hateful. If Lucy gets to finally hang out with the popular mean kids she could turn into the worse of them, she’ll do anything.
Jennifer started it the previous strip.
She gave him a conversational tip when she told him to compliment Lucy in response to being complimented.
She then said he didn’t measure up to her new social status via his clothing choice, which is both a return to form, but also she knows that for him, it’s pretty decent.
He’s not wrong to give her as good as she gave him.
Then when you combine that with calling it out, taking Dorothy’s advice, making a relatively good impression, and the chance to annoy his sister from another mister that he’s been missing, this is pretty reasonable version of Walky.
plus, it’s pretty clear she insulted his clothing because Walky and not because it’s actually bad since Asher’s wearing the same thing
very few college students expect to wear a suit and tie to breakfast with other college students, after all
Is he though? He’s making a joke with another person that the other person then picked up and found fun. The only reason Jennifer is pissy about it is her desire to always feel superior to Walky, he did nothing wrong.
He is being more confident than usual. Compare his last interaction with Asher. Asher is friendly, and Walky is confused, almost shy, and labels himself a dork. After his conversation with Dorothy, he is coming in confident and even cocky. He is an entertainer, and he knows he can entertain. Also, like Raidah said, the energy he is bringing is a good fit for a high-strung group like this one that purports to make each other better by sharpening themselves against each other.
This is supremely satisfying. Jennifer has had this coming to her for some time — I think she’s arguably a worse person than Raidah in that while Raidah is a shameless social climber, Jennifer is a shameless social climber who openly detests everyone she used to know.
Radiah doesn’t seem to hang on to many of her old friends either but I agree it is very satisfying to have the groups fake smiles facade turned against Jennifer. Hoping she comes to realize that Radiah and Carl dont actually like or respect her and she starts questioning if being a low rank member of Radiahs group is really what she wants.
…Oh right, Dorothy told him to act cocky. It all makes sense now.
I don’t like it, but it makes sense. Very much empathizing with Jennifer in terms of finding Walky incredibly annoying today…
Yeah, Billie really has just been getting away with talking shit to/about everyone, a cocky Walky is exactly what she needs to know her down several pegs.
This (in comic) would be an exaggeration of it, but I do feel like sometimes there is an unexpected click with someone you grew up with, or at least grew up similarly to (ie all the queer kids who unconsciously befriend each other, both as kids and once adults), because of the shared past you have (maybe you had different backgrounds, but you both experienced that horrible teacher, and that scandal at your school, etc).* I think it would be kind of cute if they genuinely end up getting along.
*of course it can sometimes go the exact opposite way
I return after weeks and catch up- to Raidah and Asher? Bleh.
Side note, if a loved older family member is visiting you and goes to rehab for a month after major surgery, ensure someone visits every day. Even if it’s just you and the place is an hour away. Even good people are better when someone is there to advocate for a patient and will be back the next day.
Excellent advice. And all the health care workers are still so over-worked due to extreme under-staffing and bad management. It was bad before COVID and really bad now. Best wishes for your relative.
woobie, thank you so much for being there for your family member. Your family member is lucky to have you in their life.
And thank you for the good reminder! So important!
Mayhaps, but if he had made different choices sooner, it could have spared the main cast a lot of trauma. (Exact options are dependent on a lot of factors, including what he actually knew from the beginning, which is unknown to us.)
I wonder if the black and yellow is a hint that this chapter is going to be a return to form for Jennifer. Have we seen her in that color scheme again since the skip?
You can roll the dice and get a different default Gravatar by messing around with the capitalization in your email address. Only downside is, you have to remember the way you capitalized it.
You can also click the “Get a Gravatar” link next to your email address to set a custom one, but then you have to come up with one yourself.
she doesn’t seem esp upset (yet?) that he’s walking arm in arm with asher rather than her but the point of this breakfast/brunch to walky/lucy at least is to socialize with that group as opposed to it being like a double date
Obviously he’s been involved in some questionable things but it seems like he’s also capable of being chill. I think he’s enjoying himself unironically.
Oh PLEASE let this be the thing that finally gets Jennifer to see how this group really is. And maybe let them reveal by accident that they look down on her, that’d be AMAZING. If WALKY is the one to implode this group? I’m all for it.
Hm. Wondering if Raidah’s about Walky fitting in is a callback to Asher sayin’ the same thibg to her, about Billie (and Raidah secretly not agreeing)? Thinking this whole thing may be a ploy to push billie away, in some way?
Possibly or maybe an indication that they are being just as fake with walky as they were with Jennifer, probably why radiah doesn’t talk about pretending to like him around her incase she realizes they’ve done the same thing to her.
I think there’s a teensy bit of her shoulder showing next to Jennifer’s neck. It’s not quite the right color for what Raidah’s wearing, but I don’t see any other explanation for that little patch.
God help me, I think Asher is very genuine. It was mostly his comment when Raidah was dissing Kit Fisto that sold me, but this just further reinforces it. He has his flaws, his dark backstory, and sins to make up for, but he’s genuine in his desire to move away from them and put himself and others in a better place. I also think that means his affection for Jennifer is sincere. My ideal endgame for this arc is that Walky lures both Jennifer *and* Asher back into their usual friendgroup.
Which, of course, can lead to the juicy dramabomb of finding out Asher a) pulled the fire alarm that caused their kidnapping and b) put a hit on Blaine.
walky doesn’t seem particularly bothered by it? other than being awkward when dorothy called him that but it def makes the sense of ‘distance’ more aware
has Sal ever called him Walky? because that’d be one of the few cases where that’d be weirder, tho i don’t know if she even calls him david versus just ‘bro’
that’s kinda on her for not telling raidah ‘oh just because he got a bit better looking overnight doesn’t mean he’ll be useful to you in any way’
though depends on how much of walky’s ‘goofiness’ raidah can tolerate in order for more connections but i imagine she at least won’t be able to manipulate him against any other friends hopefully (or he’d want payment up front like “oh sure i’ll introduce you if you do X for me first”)
oooooof.
It’s incomprehensible and boring to me when people are social climbers and hang with people for social standing and influence rather than for character…. tho maybe that is what they all have in common…
how often do siblings look alike anyways? twins aside, i’m not the best with faces but i feel like other than the same hair color i wouldn’t know some ppl are related w/o the same last name, i don’t think my uncle looks anything like my dad even with seeing younger pics of them both lol

Walky has an acute case of Faz Mouth today
Handschuh!
…I love this. I love it.
I am cackling like a madwoman here in the office. This peak Walky and I am here for it.
Asher and Walky should bang.
Asher does not seem opposed to the idea
Some things were just meant to be.
The real question is, is Lucy?
That’s definitely a face in that last panel.
give me half an hour and order me a pizza and lets make magic happen
this is weirder with a sal avatar isn’t it?
Yes, Yes it is.
To the contrary, a Sal avatar makes everything better.
(Is unwilling to make the effort to switch to a Sal avatar for the sake of a shtick. )
I thought your avatar was sal after she got a haircut
Amber: “no it isn’t shut up”
Also I don’t trust Asher but that shouldn’t stop him and Walky from banging.
I mean, given that he took notice of Walky (even a little) the day his hair made him incredibly sexy, I’d say it’s at least possible on Asher’s side! And I’m for it, based solely on the fact that it would be HOT.
Or maybe it was “a new competitor enters the lists.”
I 100% want this to happen. I doubt it will happen. But I would very much like it to happen.
IIRC Walky has mentioned he’d blow a dude for a free pizza. THe roadblock is Lucy… or IS she?
I am now writing a fic in my head where the day ends with Walky remarking something along the lines of “man, that Asher really is hot tho” and Lucy going “I know right” and then they do a double take and then after a thoughtful pause are like “are you thinking what I’m thinking”
Plug your head into AO3
And then segue into a Pinky and the Brain bit?
Silence, Jennifer. His usefulness outpaces yours.
The question is how long will Jennifer keep her silence? She likes to think of herself as the Alpha bongo, having Radiah flat out dismiss her in favor of somebody she considers beneath her while her own boyfriend pays no attention to her in favor of Walky might be pushing her to her limit.
Good, I wish only the worst for her.
Oh, good. You too are in favor of make-up sex with Ruth.
I wouldn’t call it makeup sex. More likely drunken hate sex
Mutual orgasms are still orgasms even if they’re from hate sex.
I’m not saying I want the worst for her, but I am looking forward to seeing where her breaking point is.
Jennifer, an unstoppable force, meets Raidah, an immovable object. Both of them don’t think people matter, but now Jennifer is getting a taste of her own medicine.
Have an upvote!!!
I briefly read this typo of Raidah’s name as ‘Radish’.
I am sad that it doesn’t actually say that.
I think I’ll always call her Radish from now on.
What did radishes ever do to you.
Like Raditz from Dragon Ball Z LOL XD
raidah speaking on good vibes lmao

I’m almost certain Assiah isn’t sarcastic here
Did you mean to be commenting elsewhere on the internet?
Raidah takes a break from the convo to randomly compliment Jenifer on the vibrating sex toys she gifted her.
I mean that has to be drawn now. You know that right
I was about to comment “Yoto signal activated” before I remembered who the OP was. That’s how well my brain is functioning right now
Has batman ever turned on the Bat Signal?
Yes.

Bat signal, Shmat signal. We’re just disssapointed the original post didn’t contain a link.
Is this what the youth are calling “rizz”? Is that what this is?
The only “rizz” I know are the crackers and the hotel chain. I’ve heard people use the term “rizzy” to mean fancy or wealthily upholstered.
That’s ritz.
Oh. I … ummmm … I knew that. Totally. I was just testing you and … you passed, …. so great job!
“Rizz” is a slang term that maybe comes from/connects to “charisma.” Whether that’s true or not… it’s kinda like the slang meaning of “game”? In the “able to win someone over”/”seduce” (I guess?) sense.

Marvy. Fab. Far out.
Nifty!

Schway.
Calvin makes an EXCELLENT point! 🙂
Verbing weirds language.
That sounds plausible at least
As a certifiable yoof that is what rizz means yes. And walky do be rizzed up fr on god, no cap all fax no printer
The only thing I don’t understand from this is “yoof”.
The only Rizz I know is Rizz Gutgack, the goblin Inquisitor Rogue from Dimension 20’s Fantasy High.
That said, I don’t know where the name came from, but to Yumi’s point, he wasn’t very charismatic to anyone except the audience.
Jenifer has the” I am untethered, and my rage knows no bounds” look about her.
Jennifer for all that is holy and wide hipped, please relax and don’t get yourself ejected from this group.
I’m gonna start worshipping THAT deity.
You already worship Jennifer. Be honest.
Only a little.
That’s gotta be the Venus of Willendorf, upper paleolithic era, 20,000 to 33,000 years ago. She’s retro!
Dolní women!
So many beauties…
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Venus_figurine
For real!
A quick glance through the article and i gleaned THIS adorable statuette from the Indus Valley in 3000BCE, and this delightful detail:
“A reworked endocast of a brachiopod from around 6000 BCE in Norway has been identified as a late Venus figurine.[26]”
Wow, cool!
Now I’m praying to the wide hipped goddess for thi exact thing to happen.
I kinda hope she does get ejected, it would probably be better for her to no be associated with those asshats
Raidah’s orbit can only accommodate so many people. Some of her friends from season 1 haven’t been seen in a while; maybe they outlasted their usefulness, or she “upgraded”.
Why? This group is toxic as fuck and Raidah is only using her as a pawn in some fictional battle between her and Joyce.
Joyce made out with her boyfriend and he dumped Radiah because of it, I don’t think it’s ” Fictional” to Radiah…
True, but it was months ago and Joyce didn’t even get to keep him, so I think that Raidah’s going a bit over the top with whatever the elaborate revenge plot is.
I don’t think ” That was months ago” really soothes someone who was cheated on tbh
People move on. Lot of people would still be unhappy when it came up, but wouldn’t have spent the months in between working on elaborate revenge schemes.
Raidah’s first appearance in-comic was her going up to Sarah specifically to taunt her for being alone and then wish death on her, and she has only barely become more sympathetic since.
It is absolutely in-character for Raidah to be waging a “Dismember Joyce’s Friend Group” campaign.
I don’t think this is about revenge. Jennifer’s parents are rich and connected; Raidah wants that clout.
Raidah introduced her to the group as “Jennifer Billingsworth. Yes, of Billingsworth Real Estate down in Evansville” (Book 12, Part 5, “Real Estate”)
It is definitely both. Revenge and connections. Raidah can multitask.
I mean, I was glad to see her act like herself regardless of how Raidah feels about it. It’s definitely healthier for her than sucking up to the group.
Billifer getting ejected would not only be the best thing for her, but would possibly be the one thing that might goad Walky into extricating himself from the snare before things escalate.
Or, or, do relax and *also* get yourself kicked out from this group.
Jennifer might be taking herself far too serious but this is the kind of group you *want* to be ejected from.
I would not be surprised if Asher and Walky got together the day before and planned this out.
Asher: Hey Walky I got an idea for a bit.
Walky: I’m not sure-
Asher: You get to mess with Jennifer a little.
Walky: I’m listening.
That is possible and definitely funny if that were the case.
That’s hilarious but I’m not sure Sal will approve 😀
Interesting idea. Raidah and Jennifer to listen to the wisdom of Satchell Paige: The social ramble ain’t restful.
i wonder how much of this is fake, even, tho sal and walky aren’t close (also because of asher) i don’t know if i’d be able to fake friendliness with him
Fake from Asher or Walky? If the former, maybe, but honestly Walky is basically friendly to everyone. The hard part is the other person being willing to put up with him.
I guess it’s a little weird Walky suddenly likes Asher since he’s one of the main reasons Sal was sent away, but Sal seems to have forgiven him even if she doesn’t trust him so guess Walky liking him now is plausible.
Yeah but he found out Sal didn’t hate Asher right? So he just went: Oh. Aight.
Maybe a little bit of that, maybe a little bit of him really really taking Dorothy’s “advice” about being a cocky goofball.
Walky is not that much of deep thinker. He punched Asher so he did his part for his sister, now they can be buds.
Sal basically told him that she already knew and that Asher was only partially to blame as they all had a hand in the fallout.
So it’s not like he thought punching him automatically made everything better.
I think it’s just guys being dudes. Dudes being bros.
In a twist, Lucy breaks up with Walky because she realizes he’d make a much better couple with Asher. (As another take on the above comment of “they should bang.”)
BUT I also enjoy depictions of male friendships. So maybe they just bang as friends.
Sometimes friends Bang, and that’s A-OK.
and then… Walky & Billie ?
I hear someone’s drawing something like that.
Who would do something like that? They’re practically siblings!
There’s a whole genre of various forms of erotic media dedicated to that.
Of course (cough) I have only ever heard of such a thing. 😅
(Plus, on the serious side, I think there’s a not insignificant number of instances in various religions/mythologies.)
… Not to mention royal families.
If William/Harry isn’t a thing on AO3 or somewhere on the Interwebs, it would be shocking.
You think Lucy doesn’t find Asher hot? I don’t see a reason for her to break up with Walky for all that to happen at all.
While I would be on board with that direction, Lucy strikes me as pretty monogamous.
Just friendly banging between bros! No homo!
I don’t know why, but panel 3 Jennifer reminds me of a frog – a very livid frog. Possibly because, Walky just disrupted some sort of strange reverse amplexus thing she thinks she has going on with Asher (she does seem very insecure about her status and relationship still).
Livid frog: https://youtu.be/cBkWhkAZ9ds
Mmmmmiiiiiiiiiiiii 😱🥰
Quickly gonna send this to everyone i know, brb
That Jennifer face is pure GOLD!!! 😂
Walky’s better at what she does without even trying. But this is but a taste of his ADHDemon power.
The fun is just beginning! 😈
YAAAAAS I went BEST NEW FACE
Aaaaadopted 😀
I think I could grow to dislike this new smug and snarky Walky. Very quick with the diss. But it’s about time B’Jennifer was paid back for her non-stop Walky and Lucy insults.
I suspect strongly he’s going ride high for a little while and then learn about the failure mode of clever. But yeah, this was necessary.
i love it
i also need to know how sal will feel about it
Honestly, it might genuinely help Jennifer for Walky to teach her some social skills. She does have some, but there are a lot of holes in there. Especially of the “you’re not required to be friends with dickheads” variety.
I still predict that this will probably end with Walky walking (ha ha) out on everyone
…. This was planned.
The question is not whether it was planned… it’s who planned it.
David M Willis, if I were to guess.
Radiah seems unsuprised so i suspect even more now that Asher is in on her ‘get Walky to like us’ scheme. If so she’s slightly better at manipulation then the last strips suggested.
The only problem with that is literally how would she know what Walky would wear?
Spy drone?
A bit of an out there theory but maybe the reason he and Carl were late was that Radiah texted him a pic of Walkys outfit to imitate?
Maybe all this is just for comedy, but I start to feel uneasy that Raidah is willing to throw Jennifer under the bus to get access to Linda Walkerton.
Or a kidnapping that almost ended in a mass murder.
oops forgot the link: https://www.dumbingofage.com/pretended/
Walky is the best I love him so goddamn much.
Look, Jennifer, you had to know it was coming when he was invited.
I think she honestly didn’t expect Walky to fit in with ” her” people even if their being fake.
This is after Walky punched him, too. I like Asher’s vibe.
Asher knew he had it coming. “Actually I think you’re really cool for doing it” I bet.
Though Asher did almost get Walky and the majority of his friends basement murdered, so in Asher’s mind they are probably at least even.
No. That was his whole improv with killing Ross and then planning on killing seven other people.
Somebody knew Asher was involved. Otherwise, how would he have gotten that text immediately after Blaine got unalived?
https://www.dumbingofage.com/blammo/
You might want to take care of that before he turns evidence for a deal.”
oh this is gonna be a good storyline
I hope Walky and Ash are just best friends forever. Water under the bridge and all that. Plus it makes Jennifer mad so I double love it.
The best of friends, I “Broship” this.
Walky’s beef with Asher was mostly in Sal’s defense. If she’s cool with him, he can be too.
OH MY GOD IT’S A HIMBIM SINGULARITY
It’s two himbo black holes spiraling towards each other and their bromance energy is creating gravitational waves, lol
Whatever it is I’m here for it.
The last couple of stripes portrayed through meme:

Wait, there’s a subreddit?
There’s a Reddit for just about anything and you should almost always stay far far away.
It’s true. There’s even one called r/FuckJoyceBrown.
There’s a Discord too, but I don’t recognize any of the names. I assume at least some of yhem are comments regulars?
I’m surprised that Asher and Walky are so cool with each other since their last interaction was Walky punching him for getting Sal busted. It would not be unreasonable for them to be cold yet civil to each other, but instead of that they’re instant bros? huh
Skyrim rules, they’re friends for life now
…Yeah, okay, I’ll ship Walky and Asher. Why not.
I love everything about this strip lol. Probably not great that Asher and Walky have more chemistry with each other than their respective partners (though I will say that the previous page was very sweet and I liked the Walky/Lucy interaction!)
Sometimes a possible genuine friendship can outstage romance.
Very much this.
Well put, Regalli.
I want to watch this buddy comedy instead of *gestures vaguely at Raidah’s entire garbage personality*
If this isn’t a setup by Radiah then I foresee Walky being completely insufferable.
No actually he’s being very fun here. I mean raidahs definitely just pretending to like it but he’s being fun and enjoyable
Oddly, now I ship Lucy and Asher.
People don’t waist any time here.
They certainly don’t below the waist any time.
How many guys want to bang Walky at this point, or have found him attractive?
Ethan thinks his butt is cute.
Danny noticed his hair was hot.
Lyle would marry him.
Asher totally wants to get some sloppy breakfast.
Who will fall victim next? Joe? Jacob? Jason?
I still support Walky and English McMuffin Man as he’d call him.
Joe saw his dick, but the context wasn’t sexual.
Jason is halfway there already, if you want to be technical.
… actually, I find the clothing selection at Target these days to be subpar.
Maybe the Target near you is just not that well versed in clothing? What exactly do you mean “subpar”?
yeah Billie it’ll make it harder for the social leech to exploit Walky’s family connections if you hospitalize him
This is the first time in a LONG time, that I have felt Walky is being an absolute ass… (Even if B’Jennifer rather deserves it for her treatment of her ‘friends’- especially Walky)
And I very much do not trust Asher here.
Then when you combine that with calling it out, taking Dorothy’s advice, making a relatively good impression, and the chance to annoy his sister from another mister that he’s been missing, this is pretty reasonable version of Walky.
plus, it’s pretty clear she insulted his clothing because Walky and not because it’s actually bad since Asher’s wearing the same thing
very few college students expect to wear a suit and tie to breakfast with other college students, after all
Dorothy shouldn’t call him cocky
No the fuck he is not.
Quite the hot take. I’ll be warming my breakfast with it.
Well she did drive directly into that one.
At 90mph, with a blindfold on, driving backwards… but also drifting.
And that’s when Jennifer snapped and killed the three of them your honor.
I suppose it’s a positive sign that Walky has seemingly forgiven Asher for getting his sister arrested and sent away previously.
But I also think that’s a wound that will re-open at some point.
He forgave Amber for stabbing her.
Now that Radiah has a new target in sight I guess the love bombing phase is over for Jennifer.
Thank god, maybe she can finally stop sniffing her own farts.
Now Im sad for Jennifer if this is how she end in this clique
I can see so many ways this will wreck
I need more popcorn
…Oh right, Dorothy told him to act cocky. It all makes sense now.
I don’t like it, but it makes sense. Very much empathizing with Jennifer in terms of finding Walky incredibly annoying today…
Same here… Just irritated me, but I suppose it fits.
I think it’s great! Billie really had it coming.
it was Jennifer who started the “war” with a comment about his jacket. Walky just went with the flow of the conversation and beat her at her game
Yeah, Billie really has just been getting away with talking shit to/about everyone, a cocky Walky is exactly what she needs to know her down several pegs.
I don’t see it. I mean yeah he’s being casually confident but I’m not seeing the “annoying” part.
I believe it was more like “be yourself”. He was invited, so being himself seems only fair.
Annoying where he’s being fun
Wanted to say they either shop at CoolMart… or Hollistud …
Wonder if Carl thinks he should have been as laid-back and cool as Walky/Asher
This (in comic) would be an exaggeration of it, but I do feel like sometimes there is an unexpected click with someone you grew up with, or at least grew up similarly to (ie all the queer kids who unconsciously befriend each other, both as kids and once adults), because of the shared past you have (maybe you had different backgrounds, but you both experienced that horrible teacher, and that scandal at your school, etc).* I think it would be kind of cute if they genuinely end up getting along.
*of course it can sometimes go the exact opposite way
(the examples being from if you did physically exist in the same place)
So important!
aww, thanks, but really I’m trying to pass on experience.
I don’t see why people are being distrustful of Asher. He’s a hero that ultimately stopped Amber’s Dad
Mayhaps, but if he had made different choices sooner, it could have spared the main cast a lot of trauma. (Exact options are dependent on a lot of factors, including what he actually knew from the beginning, which is unknown to us.)
I enjoy Asher as a character, though.
Because he works for the mob?
Worse, he is mob boss Son. Prince of crime himself.
I cannot imagine why people might find the handsome, suave prince of crime with nuance and a hint of regret charming or attractive!
does anyone have his number no reasonYeah it’s not like half this fandom grew up on AO3 or anything
Also, Blaine was already pretty well stopped. Wracked up in hospital, on the hook for kidnapping and murder charges.
Asher was covering his ass and his family’s ass, not being heroic.
Oh come now, surely having a bullet put in Blaine’s head counts as heroic regardless? 😛
Can I get 10 years of strips where Walky just talks down to Billie please?
I don’t think new Billie (aka Jennifer) likes new Walky. All these changes in Walky since she stopped hanging out with him.
I wonder if the black and yellow is a hint that this chapter is going to be a return to form for Jennifer. Have we seen her in that color scheme again since the skip?
sorry jennifer but walky is actually hilarious today. (normally when she’s tolerating him I can’t STAND him)
really must figure out how to get a different avatar XD
You can roll the dice and get a different default Gravatar by messing around with the capitalization in your email address. Only downside is, you have to remember the way you capitalized it.
You can also click the “Get a Gravatar” link next to your email address to set a custom one, but then you have to come up with one yourself.
I adore every panel of this update ROFL
And:
New comic/sitcom coming…
The Studlies 😛
i feel genuinely bad for how much i am laughing at Jennifer’s expense right now
There’s some excellent Jennifer faces in this strip.
Aaaaaaahahahaha
I haven’t rooted for Walky this hard in years
Lucy falling behind like a groupie. : (
With Carl.
she doesn’t seem esp upset (yet?) that he’s walking arm in arm with asher rather than her but the point of this breakfast/brunch to walky/lucy at least is to socialize with that group as opposed to it being like a double date
I want nothing from the entire run of this comic other than Sal/Danny and Walky/Asher interactions, forever.
I don’t recall; Is this Walky’s first interaction on screen with Asher since he punched him in the face?
No, and it was pretty “bro” moment, like today
There’s a theory of mine, that Jennifer are, unconsciously, dressing Asher for all their relationship…
Willis, if you’re reading this, I would buy this Slipshine.
Oh god yes.
Sometimes following Willis on Twitter is like getting a sneak peek at what stars will be wearing on the red carpet.
I legit don’t know if Asher is being sincere, or just going along to fuck with Walky, but I really hope its the former. I am starting to like him.
I feel like Willis has set us up to know that he’s a shite human being?
Obviously he’s been involved in some questionable things but it seems like he’s also capable of being chill. I think he’s enjoying himself unironically.
JENNIFER, DON’T LEAVE HER HANGING
It’s almost as if Billie’s “wonderful new life” isn’t quite as wonderful and satisfying as she likes to pretend.
Carl peeks in on the fourth panel just so he can get the tags. That’s all Carl wants, to be in the tags.
Raidah got to be in the tags a couple days ago without even peeking in.
I think there’s a teensy bit of her shoulder showing next to Jennifer’s neck. It’s not quite the right color for what Raidah’s wearing, but I don’t see any other explanation for that little patch.
The fourth panel is the CUTEST thing.
Okay, I know he’s a douchebag but I like Asher now.
I don’t like the jerk version of Walky.
I dunno, turnabout is fair play,
God help me, I think Asher is very genuine.
Which, of course, can lead to the juicy dramabomb of finding out Asher a) pulled the fire alarm that caused their kidnapping and b) put a hit on Blaine.
raidah calling people by the name they give her challenge
walky doesn’t seem particularly bothered by it? other than being awkward when dorothy called him that but it def makes the sense of ‘distance’ more aware
has Sal ever called him Walky? because that’d be one of the few cases where that’d be weirder, tho i don’t know if she even calls him david versus just ‘bro’
Im totally with Jennifer on this.
that’s kinda on her for not telling raidah ‘oh just because he got a bit better looking overnight doesn’t mean he’ll be useful to you in any way’
though depends on how much of walky’s ‘goofiness’ raidah can tolerate in order for more connections but i imagine she at least won’t be able to manipulate him against any other friends hopefully (or he’d want payment up front like “oh sure i’ll introduce you if you do X for me first”)
oooooof.
It’s incomprehensible and boring to me when people are social climbers and hang with people for social standing and influence rather than for character…. tho maybe that is what they all have in common…
Okay, family resemblance, sure, but they are fraternal twins, they don’t look any more alike than any two [cartoons of] siblings.
how often do siblings look alike anyways? twins aside, i’m not the best with faces but i feel like other than the same hair color i wouldn’t know some ppl are related w/o the same last name, i don’t think my uncle looks anything like my dad even with seeing younger pics of them both lol
God forbid the guy show some friggin’ confidence, instead of just taking the endless shit he’s given.
I hate all these pretentious twits, so I’m all for Walky dialed to 11 here.
Bro is living out a cartoon scenario
this is walky in his peak element
def would not have the energy to put up with this group before noon lol. would be amusing if walky ended up more popular than jen tho
Raidah : “I ship it”
