probably because ruth is talking about alcohol tho just casually bringing it up doesn’t necessarily mean a relapse even tho she did drink with dortohy (unless she just watched her)
We’ve already seen Ruth drink since the timeskip. It’s Jennifer who’s successfully abstained.
I don’t know if that has been utterly clear, though? We have seen her drink, but we’ve also seen her on medication that doesn’t play well with alcohol. Did she stop taking it, stop using MH supports? I don’t remember that happening overtly in the comic if so. As a physically disabled person who drinks when she doesn’t expect people to need her fully focused due to med interactions but usually abstains it made sense to me that Ruth was still generally cutting down. I think if that’s changed, but subtly, this is more evidence for it and therefore I can understand the reaction.

Having seen the strip in full, I can tell you it’s not some explicit explanation like you might be imaging. Much less evidence than the linked scene.
hopefully ruths gettnig help, wonder how many alcoholics anonymous groups has teenagers
Unfortunately quite a few of them, though Ruth I think is older now than that. I know of a local NA member who’s a student.
