They both are, and if you’re not sure, you should ALWAYS default to “who”. Because that’s always correct.
But if you’re really bound and determined to use “whom”, the rule that it appears only as the object of the clause. So if you could replace it (if it’s a statement) or answer it (if it’s a question) with “Me, hiM, or theM” then you go with whoM.
You’ll sound pretentious, but it’s better than sounding both pretentious and also incorrect.
Again, though, “who” is always correct in all places. Even the most starched-shirt prescriptivist now realizes that.
Yeah, well, there’s probably somebody out there still banging the drum about persons vs people, because for any given definition of “nobody” there’s always SOME one.
As a fairly starched shirt (who has never worn a starched shirt) I would agree that “who” is used in all places in informal speech and writing (even if it isn’t always correct). There are still cases when being more formal that (at least to my ear) “whom” should be used and “who” sounds off.
I guess this is Willis’ way of confirming that Walky and Amber did in fact bang. Although I like to think they used protections so maybe this isn’t actually proof?
So she is going to hide it from Joyce, which as we established might come back,to bite her in the ass. But I have to admit that Dina and Becky are very cute at this moment.
I love this, both Amber being totally blindsided, and Dina being excited, too.
Even if she’s being a bit of a brat about it, I do like that Becky’s confiding in Dorothy here. Does speak to the idea they are friends, Becky just likes playing into a non-existent rivalry, which, I do like when Dorothy humors her a little on it and sasses her back.
I mean she finaly realized how Sex feels, probably not as much pleasure as her watching and judging the Jurassic Park movies, while convincing fans of the series that the movies got it wrong, but still pleasure. I’m not sure I’ve ever dipped a hotdog in anything. I have no idea when I last ate a hotdog, possibly in a year that started with a 2, but also possibly not. (I’m very dull, but bring on more exciting questions!)
Headcanon that blue and yellow just happen to be Amber’s favorite colours. AG just started off with whatever she had lying around, and if you’re a superhero, once you have a brand you gotta run with it.
Most of the characters have color schemes we tend to see them in. They don’t always wear them, but they have marked tendencies. The older Walkyverse characters in particular tended to have outfits that were basically part of their character designs, and the colors, at least, have carried through to the Dumbiverse. Like, Joyce isn’t always in dark orange, Dina isn’t always in drab green and khaki, Walky isn’t always in light blue and white, Jennifer doesn’t wear yellow nearly as much as Billie did… but they have definite preferences.
Both Amber and Amazi-Girl wear blue and yellow, but Amazi-Girl goes with bright saturated colors, and Amber uses more muted shades, and more blue than yellow. Blaine, incidentally, was the same blue as Amber, which I don’t think is coincidence.
The bar colors in the F-bomb chart aren’t random. Some of them aren’t the character’s preferred color — like Ruth’s is a dark green, but I went with her hair color instead, and others, particularly minor characters, I wasn’t able to work out their color scheme, so I went with something kind of arbitrary (like, Leslie’s bar matches her phone) — but most of them are.
I did several pages today of the Billie/Walky thing so I compiled the first 6 pages. https://imgur.com/a/Yxu5tYy
Let me know what you think of it so far. Any changes I should make before lining? Is it sexy? Do you think the characterization is good?
Only point I really have dialogue-wise is that Walky’s “of course not!” in the fourth strip seems a little… underplayed, for him? A little too formal-sounding, anyway. I’d probably go with something more like “Hell no!” Overall, this is looking really good.
Maybe he was taken off guard by the surprise onset of substantial sized booba in his face and defaulted to the proper queen’s English as a nervous quirk?
I think starting it off with “this is a rebound” is actually a really good place to work with them in-character because it helps sell that they would have to be alone, depressed, and more than a little starved for affection, at the exact same time in the exact same circumstance (and on the exact same day, no less) before they’d even consider a casual fling.
Like they’d have to be desperate but then that’s how broken down they feel right now. I like it.
I am so thankful to Sirksome for suggesting that this take place after Halloween. It gave me a lot of ideas on how to push the characterization forward in a way that seems at least…realistic for them.
Yeah while I was reading it I was kinda thinking “is the dialogue too open from someone like Walky?” but that’s what made it work, Walky would have to be this burnt out for this to actually happen, so fwiw I think you’ve nailed the “how to do this with the canon personalities” part you’ve talked about.
I think this is great. I agree that if feels like it works with the canon personalities.
Now I’m just wondering if this one time casual fling somehow influenced the Billie to Jennifer transformation (in an alternate reality of course).
That.
Or the sex was so significant it changed how she sees him, so she’d rather change her identity than admit her brother is no longer a brother.
Being distant from him is easier than being intimate with him.
This actually seems more plausible the longer it continues. Like the only thing debunking it is that Walky doesn’t really act like he had a moment of intimacy with Jennifer. I’d expect him to be more awkward around her in comic. Other than that I would totally buy this premise as canon.
I don’t really like the recent Dorothy mindset, kinda like “‘I’m leaving anyway, i’m gonna make peace with everything, no regret, and nothing fazes me anymore”
Interesting. I’ve not been getting this at all. Like, here, she’s not fazed or anything because … why would she be? They’re a couple, she knows that, she has never had any issues with pre-marital hanky-panky, good for them.
The last time she appeared properly was “I’ll Leave You a Phantom”, where the comments thread was absolutely aghast about how judgy she was being in trying to “fix” the Joyce and Becky relationship.
I’m not sure where you’re getting “nothing fazes me anymore”, because, like Daibhid pointed out, if there’s one thing everyone agrees about the Faith-Off is that Dorothy is most definitely not a non-interventionist about the whole thing.
I don’t really get this feeling from Dorothy. I got an “I’ll be patient with the orphaned traumatized lesbian who is being annoying” vibe but not really a “peace out” sort of vibe.
She finaly got one over on God, Figured out how Sex works and what turns her on, and her girlfriend isnt freaking out about this, meaning the conversion is slipping. Of course she would be happy.
Dina said she would follow Becky’s lead. Honestly, it’s on me for not expecting her to commit as fully to that promise as she does to basically everything else she says or does.
Aw, Dina is so excited! And I love how she’s straight-up quoting Becky. That feels very autistic-love-language to me. I know when I quote memorable phrases from people I love, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to repeat their words.
Because the activity in question involves only Dina and Becky, two fully-consenting…. eehhhh, semi-adults?, and it’s not Dorothy (or anybody else except Dina and Becky)’s place to issue a judgement on it?
Everyone judges (in the sense of “perceives and has some kind of thought or feeling about”) everything that happens in the universe in which they also exist. This is an elementary factor of life.
Judgement in this context implies a negative opinion or rebuke. Dorothy could say “hey that’s way cool, good for you,” and Becky would probably be fine.
At first I thought, “why doesn’t Amber know to check behind the doors by now?”, and then I realized why she doesn’t worry about being shouted at loudly and obnoxiously by someone who’d just been hiding behind a door.
Wait, this is Becky/Dorothy’s room, right? Why is Amber coming in here? I was gonna say through the half-bath, but that’s clearly the hallway she’s coming from. Why would she care about who’s sexing who?
Why would AMBER, Queen of Shipping, care about who is FUCKING? The Amber who casually shipped her grieving friend while he was deigning to talk to her?
Part of me is expecting Joyce not to have any issue with it
Like she’ll find out and Becky will be dreading Joyce’s reaction but then it’s just “good for you” because Joyce has realized she doesn’t have to care about this stuff anymore
Well, specifically, Joyce’s advice is that it wasn’t a big deal because nothing they were taught mattered, since she had essentially lost everything at that point but her label as a Christian.
Apart from her own hangups, I think Becky’s dealing with a bit of guilt because she doesn’t want Joyce to know and say things, but she found out stuff about Joyce and has made Joyce justify her changes to her. It was okay for Becky to do it because they aren’t supposed to hide anything with each other and that’s HER Joyce, but now she’s engaging in the same kind of behaviour and I don’t think she’s unaware of that.
I think she is unaware, or at it hasn’t occurred to her that THAT is what Joyce could be mad about wrt This Circumstance. Becky does what she wants, and Joyce also does what Becky wants, that’s always just been the proper way of things. Their basic issue is that Joyce currently isn’t doing what Becky wants, and Becky wants that noise to stop pronto.
I think she’s essentially trying to script a drama scene and ensure Joyce is the villain of the piece. Joyce is a safe villain because Joyce won’t actually do anything to hurt Becky. She’ll just make Joyce-faces, verbally be a twit for a while, and ultimately accept out loud to Becky’s face that nothing bad happened. Becky will get her ‘I need to be punished’ itch safely scratched AND push Joyce back into her proper place, win-win. That everyone else around them is varying levels of YAY BECKY means no one will pile in along with Joyce and mess up Becky’s calibrated guilt/shame-release is another dimension of win and safety.
Becky wants to get called out by Joyce for the failing of purity specifically, it’ll make her feel better on multiple levels in an entirely safe way. That Joyce might be angry and call out something else (the hypocrisy and double standard of behavior) could genuinely blindside her while also continuing the line of Joyce Is Not Doing What Becky Wants.
“Unaware” is kind of a loaded term, so I’m gonna use it specifically in the context of “whether Becky is ‘unaware’ that she demands full disclosure from Joyce on all things, but is currently unwilling to give it back.”
So I don’t think she is, I think she is chafing at the idea of Joyce knowing not just because “hmmhmm atheism” but because Joyce is as entitled to know about this as Becky was to know about Joyce’s atheism (in that neither of them are entitled to it, but they have no boundaries because their friendship is codependent and toxic) and I think Becky’s never considered that idea before and is starting to because she just had a big “you can’t keep secrets from me!” thing with Joyce, but now is keeping her own.
The more I think about it the more I’m thinking she wants Joyce to find out, but in a way that it won’t be Becky’s fault (say a third party telling her, or just screaming it aloud as Joyce walks by). Then Joyce can go on the offensive and someone can defend her from big mean atheist Joyce, and validate for Becky that she’s supposed to feel guilt she intellectually recognizes as wrong.
Possibly a weird thought, but if Joyce does throw a fit, Becky kinda wins? Maybe not the best way to put it, but if Joyce goes “so you’re giving up your godliness now right?” Becky can then go “no! Sex is fine! I’m godly and sex-having!” But if Joyce objects on the grounds of their fundie sexual purity, then Joyce is acting according to status quo. If Joyce acted like Becky wants her to, Joyce would throw a big wacky Joyce face and start praying for Becky’s soul, and I think Becky would take that opportunity to go “pft yeah I’m a badass, but God still loves me,” because “what my upbringing told me is wrong and God is in my corner” has been, like, Becky’s whole thing. If a fundie face tells her sexual purity is mandatory, I think that’s the context where Becky can reject it, the way she rejected everything else that hurts her.
The worst outcome for Becky here is for Joyce to find out and then be okay with it, because if Joyce isn’t okay with it that means Joyce is somehow defying her and Becky remains in the clear. That strikes me as the most interesting interpretation of things right now, so that’s what I’m gonna go with until it gets contradicted.
And that’s what causes Becky to freak out. It was a big deal! She’s got some soul-searching to do to square it with her belief system! Which is supposed to be Joyce’s belief system too! How can Joyce not freak out about it?!
I think part of the idea is that Becky is expecting Joyce to go “hmmhmm see, you defied God, one step closer to Atheistville.”
It’s certainly possible, but it’s contingent on what “we’re perfect strangers and will never change each other” means. We know Becky’s opinion on that already (it’s “secretly convert Joyce back”) but Joyce herself hasn’t said anything, and the only chance she’s had so far was when Dina exposed her shoulders in front of Becky, so Joyce bonked her and sent her to Horny Jail, then when Becky started freaking out she went “you go deal with that, I’m taking a nap.”
I think it would be worse than that. Joyce is going to perceive this as an un-Christianly thing to do, from someone who just chastised her about not being a Christian anymore. If she found out right now I think it would actually be pretty bad.
I am reminded of Bujold’s _A Civil Campaign_, and Miles’ Top Secret courtship of Ekaterin which he told to everyone except her. That went about as well as you might expect.
It’s controversial. Some people who don’t do the deed with a penis in a vagina have become irritated by suggestions that what they do do is not real sex, does not receive the same social regard that futuation does, and does not result in a change of status from virgin to functioning adult. They therefore bridle at any attempt to define and use the main and usual term for getting in on in a way that excludes them.
I think English would benefit from having active verbs to duplicate the meanings of the Latin futuere, pedicare, irrumare, fellare, lingere, crisare, and cevere, but we don’t yet, and while we’re waiting it is perhaps best not to draw invidious distinctions.
To the average person probably “fucking” certainly generally implies penetration, from which implication you (or indeed anyone else) may or may not make an inference.
After that fake 9CL comic the other day I had a dream that I was playing a farming game like Stardew Valley – more like Spiritfarer though – and in the dream-game I was playing, you could have your production run by farm hands. BUT all my farm hands were 9CL characters so a major game mechanic was constantly trying to distract them from boinking each other so they’d do their work, but you had to time it just right or they’d lock themselves in a room & not do any work all day.
Later in the game you could build a new “farm building” that’s a porn studio though and everyone was into that so making money gets easier.
It was a weird dream….
Anyways I blame Willis, lol
Oh yes human! Please! Don’t stop giving me new game ideas!
😈🕹
Speaking of which, I’m actually making a game right now involving Dina. If you could help me find a 2D or 3D artist who’d like to collaborate, I’d very much appreciate that! 😊
Am I the only one who is getting “Someone please call me out to justify my guilt” vibes from Becky? Maybe I’m just crazy, just seems like she is REALLY insistent on not waiting Joyce to find out and if she says it a few more times I will believe her.
Now that you mention it, yeah, you’re right. Becky said as much that she’s definitely processing feelings of guilt/shame over this, and to make it worse, this is a “Point of No Return”. The rational part of her mind is probably trying to seek validation from her friends, but the subconscious part of her that’s feeling the guilt/shame is probably just waiting in the wings to go “SEE?! Look how they shun you now, you wanton harlot, you!”
I think the main reason she doesn’t want Joyce to know is because she gave Joyce a lot of grief about still remaining true to her Christian faith and beliefs, while Joyce pretty much set it on fire while giving it the double-salute. And now that Becky has basically done what even Joyce, the heel-turn atheist has not (pre-marital hanky panky), she’s probably getting a double mega-dose of shame.
I think it’s more Becky is expecting guilt which she will try to work through in an adult manner with Dina but she’s just plain giddy (and so is Dina).
No one around Becky will call her a slut or hit her with a spoon, but they’re supposed to. It’s supposed to be bad and scary, but Becky feels good and everyone around her is validating those feelings.
“Don’t tell Joyce” is sensible in that Becky fears an “I told you so,” but if she keeps walking up to everyone going “hey I had SEX but don’t tell Joyce!” I could start buying she’s hoping she’ll get caught, so then she can spin it around and heroically defend herself. It’s hard to put this in the best words, but it’s kinda like if someone else reflects your harmful thoughts, then they sort of become easier to combat than if they’re just in your head.
I think this might be too deep a read for this strip, but the way Becky frames the nickname as “I’ll start calling you Dorothy if you do me a solid” is weirding me out a little. I preface that it’s probably meant to be a joke, either the strip itself or that Becky would in-character think it is funny, but it wigs me out because it comes off as “you know this thing that annoys you? I’ll stop if you do me a favour,” and Becky has engaged with that kind of “you’re only valid if it’s by my standards” behaviour beforehand, though mostly in more dramatic/confrontational settings and less of a one-off joke here.
Like I kinda figured ‘Dotty’ was just actually an affectionate nickname on her part. I’ve been big on my theory that since the glasses thing, Becky is trying to be a cool funny goofball to Dorothy and endear herself to her, and I could see that filter here too in a “dang Dorothy don’t you think I’m cool yet?” kinda way.
I reiterate that it was probably a joke, but with so much of Becky’s past behaviour having been recontextualized and how her relationship with Dorothy has changed since she was, essentially, a constantly sniping bully in her direction, it stuck out.
I always thought Becky was being a bully. I never thought it was affectionate, or a joke. I got the impression that she really did resent Dorothy. Dorothy took the high road and put up with it, but I’m sure she’s tired of the constant sniping.
While it might set an unfortunate precedent, I think Dorothy would jump at the chance to improve the roommate dynamic and have some peace at home.
Becky was unambiguously a bully to Dorothy prior to Joyce getting glasses, since she saw Dorothy as a threat to her relationship with Joyce and their every single interaction was Becky sniping at her while Dorothy passively tolerated it. Dorothy gently unguarded her by stating she wasn’t going to steal Joyce or anything, and that she also liked Becky and wanted to be friends with her*, and Becky that night had some dialogue to the effect of “I want to be nicer to her from now on.”
Their interactions since then have been a lot more like this, where Becky’s been a lot more brazenly loud and kooky in her direction and deliberately cultivating a routine with her, than “hi slutbag friendthief how’s it going.” She’s only really gotten critical of Dorothy that one time she told her she was being wildly possessive of Joyce when she went to track her down because Liz was over so Becky told her she had no personality, but it tracks that Becky would jab at her in that circumstance, that’s how she is since she’s got major black and white thinking.
Dorothy herself is absurdly coddling of Becky, so while I don’t think she enjoys it outright, I think she enjoys their dynamic and also just genuinely likes and appreciates Becky, but I also think Becky’s ramping it like this because she needs to prove to Dorothy that she’s a cool funny badass that Dorothy won’t start hating if Becky is sad in front of her, but Dorothy isn’t taking the signal so Becky has to keep pushing.
*Reminded that this scene had Becky go “why can’t you hate me? I’m trying so hard” and that’s probably relevant if Becky is actually expecting a big fight with Joyce if having sex with Dina comes out.
I actually got them in before midnight. Comic’s been updating early, and I didn’t have to go through the whole appearance-count update process, because it was just the four characters who appeared today needed to be incremented.
I was expecting Dina to follow Becky’s lead in mote or less this way. But also for the next person to walk through their door to be Joyce.
And this is DoA, so this strip being so happy means that now I’m even more on edge trying to figure out the even more diabolical way this is going to fall to pieces.
Last time they spoke about sex, Joyce said “might as well, everything else we were taught was a lie”. Now I think it might bother her because of the (perceived) hypocrisy of Becky still clinging to a faith that discourages premarital sex.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Joyce’s reaction to finding this out was an underwhelming “meh” and this upsets Becky more than any amount of shock or scolding. Because it’d be just one more thing about Joyce that’s changed, and Becky is deeply invested in Joyce not changing.
Good golly, I knew Willis is good, but not raising I Excised All my Anxieties into Cartoon Characters Who Definitely Don’t Have Feelings for Each Other within 11 hours good. Much success!
Wish I could properly edit Panel 5 accordingly in jubilation, oh well
The penultimate panel is the funniest thing I’ve seen in a while. Come to think of it I always find this gag funny in QC as well, maybe my sense of humor is not as evolved as I thought.
It’s great they’re happy, but seriously I hope they clean up the shit they expelled during their lovemaking. I had a roommate in college who shit the bed and left it there for days until I moved out.
I ALSO remember the last time I did a vaguely dirty deed that—hold on, need to check my Twitter notifs—I widely announced. (Did she notice? Does she know? She’s still paying attention, right?)
put up with Becky’s sillyphilis and catch groanorrhoea/genital DERPes
alt-text: also feeling “whom”; fucking NOBODY uses it (correctly)
I actually do, and have since childhood.
I’m actually convinced that this is part of an autism-related language disability, but not one that people take seriously. (Including, in my experience, plenty of other autistics.)
It is but a single neurodivergent stripe that can occur alongside many others in countless unique combinations in all of us NDs! 😁
I do since I learned how the fuck it actually worked in college and I’m pretty sure it’s also an autistic thing (though in my case it’s less a disability and more “pretty words sound Good and Correct this way”).
I absolutely have ever since I learned how to use it correctly. It just sounds too cool not to.
I’m in the “whom users” crowd, too. It’s actually pretty simple.
BTW, Hi Azhrei.
I’m prepared to bet that out of the four people in this strip, at least one, and possibly two would say “whom”.
This needs to be one of those table memes. “Knows when it’s grammatically correct” vs “doesn’t actually know when it’s grammatically correct”, “uses it” vs “doesn’t use it”:
Knows / Uses: Booster
Knows / Doesn’t use: Dorothy
Doesn’t know / Doesn’t use: Walky
Doesn’t know / Uses: Mary
Mary: “Am I the only one here whom knows how to talk proper?”
If the VAST majority of people that speak a language don’t follow the rules, then the rules are wrong, not the people. Here’s my hill, I was dying somewhere near here anyway.
agreed
i think “whom” is kind of going away in english; nobody says it unless they’re deliberately drawing attention to the fact that they said it, at which point the actual conversation is derailed
Me: Who just said that, and to whom?
(I do try to use “whom”, but I generally forget. But when I do remember to use it, I do at least use it correctly xD)
Indeed. And Dina nails Becky’s lead as well.
Gaydiation levels are rising, and it’s delightfully delicious!!! 😋
OOOO! This will be fun!!!

*plays “The Show” by Waterflame on Hacked Muzak*
God I hope not, Amber, or imagine what Dorothy would have picked up from Walky.
Walky’s got a different strain of obnoxiousness. He’s a ridiculous manchild who can’t get any interest in things outside of fast food and cartoons. But he usually only advertises that by being a slob, not by screaming it from the rooftops with a loudspeaker like Becky does about her sapphicity.
We know that being a drama hurricane is sexually transmitted, that’s just a more extreme version, right?
TBH this is very jarring coming from Dina.
Currently listening to “Thick As A Brick” on the hacked Muzak.
BTW Willis, in case you’re wondering, “who” is actually correct.
For the first usage, that is.
yeah, the alt-text is referring to the second “who”
no, who’s on first. what’s the name of the guy on secondI don’t know. THIRD BASE!
Pretty sure that slipshine was a home-run.
As I recall, about 7 RBI.
They both are, and if you’re not sure, you should ALWAYS default to “who”. Because that’s always correct.

I mean Joyce is probably experiencing so much pain her ears are ringing to loud to hear properly so these can go off!
Is making jokes about personality traits being sexually transmitted sexually transmitted?
I guess this is Willis’ way of confirming that Walky and Amber did in fact bang. Although I like to think they used protections so maybe this isn’t actually proof?
Well, sometimes even with protection…
I think he was talking about Billie-to-Alice transmission?
Nah, Billie isn’t even in this strip, that wouldn’t make much sense
Did you click the link?
So she is going to hide it from Joyce, which as we established might come back,to bite her in the ass. But I have to admit that Dina and Becky are very cute at this moment.

Or The Land Before Time movies! 😛

Dinotopia was a decent show, if not a little inaccurate
I see here once again another opportunity to use the power of statistics!
What’s your favorite movie in The Land Before Time? 🦕 🥚 🦖

I clicked through to see if there was a “never watched any of them”, then raised both eyebrows at seeing there were TWELVE options? Wowza, that’s a lot.

Yeah it’s quite the marathon if you watch all of them!
Be sure to have a snacks at the ready if you plan to do this!
Speaking of which PirateTawnee, I don’t believe you ever told me your favorite hotdog dipping sauces.
I’m not sure I’ve ever dipped a hotdog in anything. I have no idea when I last ate a hotdog, possibly in a year that started with a 2, but also possibly not. (I’m very dull, but bring on more exciting questions!)
Dina stated last page that she would follow Becky’s lead regarding secretiveness, and thus she is following Becky’s lead

Wow, even Amber’s sleepwear is blue and yellow. Not sure if that is great for her secret identity but you have to respect the dedication to the theme.
She’s like a power ranger. Always gotta wear the colors, even in civilian outifts.
If she doesn’t wear the proper colors, casual readers might confuse her with Night Guy.
We’ve seen her wear pink panties in a strip, so she at least isn’t fully married to blue and yellow. Could be worse.
Slava Ukraini
Hear! Hear!
Amazi-girl is just rhe reversed Amber.

Let me know what you think of it so far. Any changes I should make before lining? Is it sexy? Do you think the characterization is good?
Top quality!
Walky’s last line in the sixth strip is gold.
Haha good point. That’s a bit more of a yotoism than a walkyism! Thanks!
Agreed that last line is pure Walky.
Now your really getting into the spirit swing strips. Can’t wait to see it outlined.
Oh yes human!!! Don’t stop making this delicious stuff!!! 😋
Is possible to show us where is this comment.
Your strips are so damn good, anyway.
I think this is great. I agree that if feels like it works with the canon personalities.
Now I’m just wondering if this one time casual fling somehow influenced the Billie to Jennifer transformation (in an alternate reality of course).
The sex was so bad I had to throw away that entire identity.
Isn’t that the premise of an Adam Sandler movie?
Tabs updated.
Great stuff! I don’t see anything that felt out of character. I think you’re good to go.
Wow, this is very good. You are very good at this.
If it was Amber then I know some people who would be *infinitely* more annoying then I know them now.
That said, I *adore* Dorothy and Becky’s dynamic in this strip. Just absolute snark perfection
The last time she appeared properly was “I’ll Leave You a Phantom”, where the comments thread was absolutely aghast about how judgy she was being in trying to “fix” the Joyce and Becky relationship.
oh it’s not just about this page in particular
I’m not sure where you’re getting “nothing fazes me anymore”, because, like Daibhid pointed out, if there’s one thing everyone agrees about the Faith-Off is that Dorothy is most definitely not a non-interventionist about the whole thing.
Is she leaving tho? She was accepted into yale a while back but shes still here.
She was accepted for the upcoming fall semester. It is still January.
I don’t really get this feeling from Dorothy. I got an “I’ll be patient with the orphaned traumatized lesbian who is being annoying” vibe but not really a “peace out” sort of vibe.
Welp, Dina just said “totes,” all bets are off
In all seriousness their sheer glee at this is super cute.
Just following Becky’s lead
She finaly got one over on God, Figured out how Sex works and what turns her on, and her girlfriend isnt freaking out about this, meaning the conversion is slipping. Of course she would be happy.
From my experience it is very much sexually transmitted
Bahahaha I love Amber’s commentary here. Really the whole friend group is great. It’s nice to see them all getting along and riffing on each other.
Dina said she would follow Becky’s lead. Honestly, it’s on me for not expecting her to commit as fully to that promise as she does to basically everything else she says or does.
I don’t know, it feels to me like “who [verb] whom” is one of the few cases where people seem to consistently use the word “whom.”
I have never used whom in my life and I will not start now.
A patent lie on both counts, seeing how “whom” is the fifth word in that sentence. 😉
I use whom exclusively for comedic emphasis. And even then it’s usually whomst
I bet Becky would like to put a magical lesbian spawn in Dina’s whom.
…sorry, I’ll just leave now. xDDDD
Joyce is going to need to break out her best detective skills to figure out what happened.
She may need some help, can we put out a call for Jamie McJack, Romance Detective from Girls With Slingshots?
(And because I want to see Yoto work his magic with a Jamie/Billie crossover.)

Holy crow, Dina *did* follow Becky’s lead!
Aw, Dina is so excited! And I love how she’s straight-up quoting Becky. That feels very autistic-love-language to me. I know when I quote memorable phrases from people I love, it makes me feel all warm and fuzzy to repeat their words.
God, I love these two. I especially love when they’re happy and jokey and having fun.
Why can’t she make a judgement on it when you totally issued a value judgment on it?
Because Becky’s the arbiter of who can do what.
I mean, about her own sex life? Yeah she absolutely gets to be the arbiter of who gets an opinion.
about everything.
Sure, but that’s not the context in which “judge” is being used here. This about “judge” is the sense of “condemn”.
Judgement in this context implies a negative opinion or rebuke. Dorothy could say “hey that’s way cool, good for you,” and Becky would probably be fine.
Dina did say she would follow Becky’s lead!
and as usual, Dina exelled at the task at hand.
The answer is probably yes.
At first I thought, “why doesn’t Amber know to check behind the doors by now?”, and then I realized why she doesn’t worry about being shouted at loudly and obnoxiously by someone who’d just been hiding behind a door.
Dina jumpscare compilation 20XX (Real)
This is adorable.
I can’t believe Amber is fucking dead.
Wait, this is Becky/Dorothy’s room, right? Why is Amber coming in here? I was gonna say through the half-bath, but that’s clearly the hallway she’s coming from. Why would she care about who’s sexing who?
They’re neighbors and shouting about fucking, and she’s a horny little goblin. It’s weirder that you’re questioning this.
Why would AMBER, Queen of Shipping, care about who is FUCKING? The Amber who casually shipped her grieving friend while he was deigning to talk to her?
That Amber?
No idea.
Shall this be like shortpacked and the brief but fantastic ‘most epic of hate fucks’ meme? Only time will tell.
Joyce’s head is gonna explode. Like, seriously.
Bullet in the brain-pan, squish.
Part of me is expecting Joyce not to have any issue with it
Like she’ll find out and Becky will be dreading Joyce’s reaction but then it’s just “good for you” because Joyce has realized she doesn’t have to care about this stuff anymore
Frankly, I’d love that. With a side of ‘wasn’t that the advice I gave you months ago?’
Is that… is that the Lawesome high-five they are doing?
“Joyce can’t know”

Mutual cunnilingus and tribadism is, of course, sexual activity, but doesn’t ‘fucking’ general infer penetration, preferably with a live phallus, as opposed to fingers or a mechanical device that could be mistaken for a karaoke microphone, a curling iron or a light saber, or even an <A HREF="https://www.dumbingofage.com/2014/comic/book-4/03-up-all-night-to-get-vengeance/funnystory/"electronic nose picker?
We REALLY need a preview function, or at least a five-minute window in which to be able to either edit or delete and repost.
I would say it refers to “going all the way”, for most couples that involves penetration but maybe not.

I guess I should also blame myself because I have been playing a LOT of spiritfarer
Oh yes human! Please! Don’t stop giving me new game ideas!
😈🕹
Speaking of which, I’m actually making a game right now involving Dina. If you could help me find a 2D or 3D artist who’d like to collaborate, I’d very much appreciate that! 😊
I’ll even rip on 9CL in the game, if that’s an order. 😉
Why would you blame anyone that sounds like an AWESOME dream.
Huh, I wonder.
She won’t do it, but man I would love it if Dorothy finally started of darkness and immediately alerted joyce

They really think Joyce will not find out about this? How cute!

Considering they’re yelling about it, I’m not sure there’s anyone in the entire dorm that doesn’t already know about it.
What the hell is actually happening here.
If it is Amber you might want to get tested, you were with Walky after all.
I seem to recall something about a binder that seemed to genuinely get to Dorothy, but I can’t recall if it was before or after glasses.

Upon reading the comic this morning, the first thing I did was refresh the F-bomb counter.
It reflected the changes since yesterday.
Respect.
I wouldn’t be surprised if, when she does eventually find out that Becky and Dina did a sex, Joyce isn’t bothered by it at all.
Wish I could properly edit Panel 5 accordingly in jubilation, oh well
Amber’s question is the most poignant in the series to date. There’s a better word for it, but I don’t know.

I like how it seems Dina is screaming that straight into Amber’s ass.
