But she doesn’t want to be an adult in her relationship with Leslie. She wants to be a bratty troublemaker of a teenage daughter and have a Strained But Ultimately Loving mother-daughter relationship with her scared mess of an awesome lesbian mother.
If nothing else because that confirms their relationship as mother-daughter.

I was under the impression that she did not want Leslie to act as her mother and was part of the reason that she moved out? Of course I could be entirely mistaken on that.
I read that completely differently. I think she moved out to not feel like a mooch, and because she was ashamed for working for Robin after the entire mess between her and Leslie.
I guess we’ll see which it is when they speak to each other. Although the feeling ashamed for working for Robin I can definitely understand.
At certain point I wish the dumbing stopped. Cynicism become tiresome as comedians kicking the same dead horses over and over, like constant bigoted jokes of South Park.
I’ll say the same thing I tell anyone else, the jokes will stop when the situation no longer exists. And the situation continues in perpetuity for man of these things, including many things South Park’s jokes.
Dunno about that. For me this is a comic about people constantly struggling to improve themselves, and doing a fantastic job about it. When the dumbing continous it’s because they simply find NEW things to be dumb about
Just look at Joyce’s interaction with Jacob, where she has gone though at least three different itirations of dumb.
That much I can definitely agree with, and I’m not saying this comic is making the same situations over and over. But it is pointing out situations that still exist and are therefore relevant. I may not have worded my first comment very well.
Yeah, college is how you discover new and exciting ways to fuck up, and maybe, when you’re done, you’ll have figured out how to prevent doing a couple of those things again.
We’re only halfway through fall freshman semester. They’re gonna keep coming up with new ones. (Even arcs that seem to hit similar beats – say, Amber/AG – have been evolving. AG is no longer stalking Sal, Sal knows who Amber is, and they’ve tentatively made peace while the dissociative issues have gotten more dire.)
and as we saw just two days ago, now they have entirely new ways to be fucked up together.
Wow. I did college very … differently … than that. I assumed college was for learning, and that’s mostly what I did. Now I feel like I did it wrong.
Sure, I did other things at college, but they were all secondary – they fit around the edges and never seriously interfered with my learning. In fact, I’m not sure I’ve ever had a “discover new and exciting ways to fuck up” phase of life.
I’ve done lots of exciting things, but I’ve always made sure to be slightly more cautious than adventurous. Slightly more deliberate than spontaneous. So I’ve done six extreme sports and never gotten a significant injury from any of them – does that make me boring or exciting? I don’t actually know how I feel about it myself.

I was trying to talk about myself, not sound a certain way. If I wanted to sound exciting or brag, you would know it.

College is not and has never really been purely about academics. Even at the original medieval universities (which taught only theology, law, medicine and art) students (who could typically be anywhere between mid-teens and early forties) had reputations among staff and surrounding communities for things like drunken debauchery. Making stupid mistakes and trying to learn from them has always been a recognized and accepted part of the process just as much as pure scholastic learning.

I love how all these mini-stories we follow in the wake (npi) of Mikes fall, feels like a series of very down-to-earth, solemn, reconnections with/tying up of loose ends.
1) God they need hugs,
2) I’m pretty sure Leslie heard about the breakin with the Brown sisters, but also I’m remembering Leslie’s got Becky’s background but a few years’ later breaking point and oof, that line’s suggestive of Sad Backstory given that fact.

Becky and Leslie are good folk. I hope Becky can find it in her to love and trust again with someone who really wants to be a mom to her.

It’s nicely symbolic too: Becky the girl is quickly being overtaken by Becky the young woman.
I think Becky may want to talk to her surrogate mum about how she reconciles her faith with desire for PREMARITAL HANKY PANKY, so she gets to enjoy physical intimacy with her girlfriend… Leslie having come from a similar background seems a sensible person to approach about this…
However, I suspect Leslie may be agnostic/atheist now… I can’t remember if she states her beliefs anywhere though?

I say “Thank God” often and I have never been a Christian, maybe it’s just a cultural thing.
Yeah, I sometimes notice myself using Jeez or Jesus as a word of exasperation, and I’ve never been Christian.
