Hunh. I just noticed.
On top of the expressions staying the same vs. becoming bitter, Walky’s outfits keep mostly the same color scheme across panels while Sal’s outfit colors fade from light to dark to drab.
Well played.
The clothes and expressions are pretty telling but what breaks my heart the most is the body language. Walky starts off inclusive of Sal with his expansiveness and that… goes away, until the last one where he’s *crowding her out* with his expansive body language. And Sal’s body language just coils up in response (and in that last one, she looks like a pissed off snake about to strike).
But… where’s Billie? 🙂
On top of “adorable” & “spot-on” & all that, I think the first two’d make really excellent gravatars. (The 3rd one doesn’t make me happy.)
