Yeah, I gotta agree with this. Danny may be a bit thick on some issues, and I would question his judgement on a few of his actions, but spineless isn’t a word I’d associate with him.
I think the spineless thing comes in with how he acted with Dorothy. Kid is happy to have no real plans of his own other than follow his romantic interest around like a lost puppy. I’m not sure that fits the definition of “spineless”, but that and his hopeless denial when Dotty tried to break up gently with him makes him seem like not a very strong person.
‘Course, how he acted with Amber showed he had some spine after all, misdirected though it was due to his inability to see through simple disguises.

Danny following her to college always felt more like he was trying to support her, while remaining close by. And really, it’s on Dorothy for not pointing out that she was leaving him BEFORE he made large scale, life altering choices. It was clear she’d had the plan to dump Danny to focus on college, but she made no attempt to tell him that at any of the moments prior. That IS spineless, because basically, because she couldn’t activate her spine, Danny ended up getting hurt worse than he would’ve otherwise, only now he’s stuck at a college he never intended to attend.
That line of logic is probably how Danny subconscionusly views (and rationalizes) himself and his love life. Digging for redeeming details in his past romances aside, his future with Amber may all come down to whether or not he can deal with Her and Amazigirl being the same person, and the more Watchmen than Marvel/DC reasons she dons the costume….

If Danny reveals who Sal is and Amber says she’s Amazi-Girl, Danny goes back to post-Freshman Family night and thinks Amber is lying because she is jealous.
If Amber and Danny reveal nothing, Danny thinks this is still about him.
Sure, Willis can write a good way for this to turn out too, but looking at reasonable possibilities, how is this not another Danning?

Which allows two different points of maximum melodrama to occur:
One, billie uses the DS to contact amazigirl and arrange a meeting, amazigirl leaps on and proceeds to beat the cartharsis out of billie without checking she’s the right person, billie ends up in hospital possibly forever or until he wants to bring the character back.
Two, amber contacts sal via the ds to arrange a meeting, sal and amber go to fight it out, billie has found out about it ahead of time and when amber is unmasked during the fight billie gets a photograph of amber in the amazigirl costume physically assaulting sal, amber is expelled, billie dies of schlerosis of the liver.
Sometimes it is necessary to state the obvious, just for the historical record. Don’t want future historians to think that we were too primitive to see that Dan is head-slappingly thick.
In panel three, the line denoting the bridge of Danny’s nose is 28 pixels high, but in panel four it’s only 19 pixels high despite his face being the same size in both panels.

Ethan said that he’s happy with his girlfriend. And, as much as he loves Amber, Amber did just table-flip on him and yelled and swore at his girlfriend. Ethan may not be pissed at Amber, you’re right, but he did have to specify that he was happy with his choices, and did so very coldly. He specifically said that she wasn’t listening to him. Therefore, it makes more sense for him to stay with Joyce and make sure that she’s okay right now rather than to follow Amber. I anticipate he might try to talk to Amber at another time, but not at present.
I don’t think there was anything cold about the way he explained it to Amber. Neither did he shoot her a spiteful look when he kissed Joyce. He just explained the situation.
Being happy with his closet isn’t the same as loving Joyce, is it? Has he ever made an affirmative statement there?
I’d say a real motivator for not following Amber right now is simply because he is part of why she is upset right now. He seems pretty aware that he hurt her deeply and seems to be giving Amber some leeway there.

has anyone else noticed that danny kinda has an abusive relationship with the readers. No one wants danny screw up and they hope for once he wont and the he crushes that hope. After a few times you know its Danny of course he is gonna screw this up but you just cant help it and despite knowing better you still get your hope trampled. Which lead you to either hating danny is order ensure you have no expectations or continuing to delude yourself that maybe Danny wont dan this spidercar for once.

Ethan said that he’s happy with his girlfriend. And, as much as he loves Amber, Amber did just table-flip on him and yelled and swore at his girlfriend. Ethan may not be pissed at Amber, you’re right, but he did have to specify that he was happy with his choices, and did so very coldly. He specifically said that she wasn’t listening to him. Therefore, it makes more sense for him to stay with Joyce and make sure that she’s okay right now rather than to follow Amber. I anticipate he might try to talk to Amber at another time, but not at present.
I don’t think there was anything cold about the way he explained it to Amber. Neither did he shoot her a spiteful look when he kissed Joyce. He just explained the situation.
Being happy with his closet isn’t the same as loving Joyce, is it? Has he ever made an affirmative statement there?
I’d say a real motivator for not following Amber right now is simply because he is part of why she is upset right now. He seems pretty aware that he hurt her deeply and seems to be giving Amber some leeway there.

I agree. I think she was just commenting on the general stupidity of leaving an expensive item with someone you just met rather than suggesting plans to illegally sell it. Especially since, to my memory, we haven’t heard of her doing anything outright illegal since before she went off to Catholic school. There’d be no point in selling it, he knows who he lent it to, and I don’t think she would anyway.

Eh, she’s done it as “I’m a girl, I know what girls like” often enough that it’s not ridiculous that he hasn’t gotten it yet. Especially since I remember hearing people do that as a teenager quite a bit.
I’m glad Danny is going after her. Even if (by his perception) she’s only upset about the whole dating thing, she’s obviously really upset, and I think that he’s doing his best.

She was crying and clearly very upset. If I was in a situation like that, just hanging out with my GF (well, he thinks so) and someone that was just a good friend came by and was like that I would absolutely go after them.
It’s been my experience that woman are fairly rational and can understand the concept of their boyfriend having other friends.

i can kind of see Amaz-girl stealing the 3DS from Sal’s room before she sells it and then giving it to Dan, which will convince him further that Sal is amazi-girl!

has anyone else noticed that danny kinda has an abusive relationship with the readers. No one wants danny screw up and they hope for once he wont and the he crushes that hope. After a few times you know its Danny of course he is gonna screw this up but you just cant help it and despite knowing better you still get your hope trampled. Which lead you to either hating danny is order ensure you have no expectations or continuing to delude yourself that maybe Danny wont dan this spidercar for once.

I suspect that, like Doom, Zod (in any incarnation) doesn’t actually want to rule so much as he wants to conquer. The former is just what he’s obliged to do after he indulges the latter.
I think Danny’s not the brightest, but I don’t feel that way. I haven’t read any of the other comics though, so I don’t know his other storylines.

Maybe he screws it up again – it is a convenient plot device to pillory Danny at every opportunity. But i’d like to see The Creator (Willis) try something new here…
