So when I say Kudos for Amber’s Mom, I mean in the sense that she’s able to move past said (implied) badness and have a good time, not in the sense that grabbing a ride on the village bicycle (Joe’s Dad) is a major accomplishment for her.

Speaking as somebody who has no assumption that Faye’s dad won’t keep on kickin’ in this universe, and whose very strong reaction to his appearance here can only be summed up as “DAMN YOU, WILLIS!” I don’t really see what part of this doesn’t make sense. It doesn’t matter [I]how[/I] you dredge up and evoke Faye’s pain; that doesn’t make it any less painful.
The fact that a version of the character exists in this universe, alive, only serves to make us feel more pain at the fact that he isn’t alive in the main QC universe.

I’m not sure. I’d feel a bit better about how fast that escalated if they were acquainted with each other from their college days or something, but I think Joe’s dad is just setting a land speed record for a cold start.
So yeah, this is like when Unca Ben came back for Spider-man’s anniversary, except much less stupid, less contrived, more subtle and much more painful. Maybe cause it’s a character whose death actually matters to his child and continues to affect that child in a direct and personal way beyond being an inspiring archetype.

It was mentions that Joe’s dad works awfully fast but I am of a mind that is not the situation at all.
1) note that they greet each other without introductions but stating their life situation. – This means that they new each other previously.
2) He started massaging her shoulders without any complains on familiarity – again reiterating they knew each other previously.
3) He mentioning memories and wild oats – she corroborating with “it has been a while” thus implying they had been an item in college.
4) Second last panel he indirectly asks to renew old memories.
Thus we are left with Amber alone in the hallway looking for her mom.

Questionable Content has always been a neverending cringe-fest for me but this current storyline is actually amusing. Thanks Willis.
I would just like to point out for those of us who read Questionable Content as well that Faye and her entire family (including father) are in panel four.

It was mentions that Joe’s dad works awfully fast but I am of a mind that is not the situation at all.
1) note that they greet each other without introductions but stating their life situation. – This means that they new each other previously.
2) He started massaging her shoulders without any complains on familiarity – again reiterating they knew each other previously.
3) He mentioning memories and wild oats – she corroborating with “it has been a while” thus implying they had been an item in college.
4) Second last panel he indirectly asks to renew old memories.
Thus we are left with Amber alone in the hallway looking for her mom.

A possible location for reconnoitering would be the supplies room in the library. >_>

Possible, but the “Oh, no, I’m divorced” seems to throw a spanner in that — I don’t know, it’s a bit too impersonal, introductory. “We’ve gotten a divorce” might have worked.
That would make sense if each had know that they had gotten married and to whom in the interim.

Did they sneak into a dorm room because everybody is out mingling? Headcanon is #3, but I can’t decide whose.
