I’ve got to agree with AckAckAck, too damn cute. This is my favorite Plasma Mongoose avatar. I was a bit worried I wouldn’t see it again since the switch to the green backdrop, so seeing it again today made me happy.
The ORIGINAL Dracula did not burn in sunlight. He just lost most of his nifty powers and was kind of lethargic…for an evil undead monster of advanced age.
No you can’t. That was Gordon’s point – he was talking about Stoker’s Dracula…the only other ‘original’ Dracula was Vlad II, and he wasn’t an evil undead monster (he was an evil living monster, if you ask the Turks, an absolutely saintly hero if you ask the Romanians).
You can blame FW Murnau and Henrick Galeen (director and scriptwriter for Nosferatu) for it – Nosferatu was the first version of the Dracula story, and…probably the first Vampire story*, to have sunlight be deadly. (… Arguably. Quite a few people interpret the ending as the heroine’s willing sacrifice being what truly killed Orlock.)
* I don’t claim to know all the myths, of course, but deadly sunlight isn’t a traditional trait of any legendary vampires I’m familiar with, and of the major fictional precursors to Dracula, I’ve not read Varney, but both La Fanu’s Carmilla (of the novela of the same name) and Poldori’s Baron Ruthven (of The Vampyre) are active during the day (though Carmilla tends to sleep late, this is presented not as a problem with the sun, but simply being tired after her nocturnal adventures).
“They keep bullying me because I reported my old roommate for doing drugs.”
Under 100 characters. No flashbacks or storytelling needed. You just want to use Photoshop’s sepia palate (how do you spell this word), don’t you, Willis?
“While the least physically imposing member of the herd, the small one posesses a triangular dentition, which, when combined with a particular tone, is capable of bending much larger specimens to her will.”
“The roundest one proceeded agressively utter a remark refering to the tallest as a dracula. I did not know that the tallest was a dracula and will now keep this in mind as to not accidentally give her garlic or go to the beach (which I have previously noted as being inhabited by sharks swam up river from the ocean)
Why is story time always the last strip of the week.
Cliffhangers!
DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUN!
Damn you, Willis!
Sorry, but it had to be said.
And now it has been said.
Does it need to be repeated or is once enough?
DAMN YOU, WILLIS!
DAMN YOU, WILLIS!
DAMN YOU, WILLIS!!
DAMN YOU, WILLIS!!
Are we satisfied?

I love Joyce’s face in the third panel.
Me too. She’s adorable.
It’s her sstorrrytiiime FAAAAACE.
No, thats the last panel.
And they all lived miserably ever after. The end!
With their penises

Yeah, if I was you I would stay wherever “there” was.
*hands Jen Aside a dunce cap* That was bad and not in the radical 80s sort of way either.

OH MY! Such language.
David can only achieve orgasm when somebody makes a blaxploitation joke? Huh, who knew?
Presumably Maggie.
Funny …. and here I thought it was the usual
“Typing on a computer keyboard with your face”
I am offended and request compensation!
Sorry, all I have is this nickel, and it’s already earmarked for your mom.

You cannot resist the triangular smile Sarah, it’s pointless to even try.
Ok, who’s she? the one you use as avatar. She just too damn cute with that glasses and braided redhair.
Today’s grav is Asuka from Evangelion, I only wish she would adopt this look more often.
That’s a different kind of Asuka….. artist/source please?
Here is the original it was based on:

Just replace the commas.
I’ve got to agree with AckAckAck, too damn cute. This is my favorite Plasma Mongoose avatar. I was a bit worried I wouldn’t see it again since the switch to the green backdrop, so seeing it again today made me happy.
I like Milly Thompson.
Narusegawa!!!
Thanks for the link, sorry for the late reply.
…No. You lie. All that show had was pain and mindfuck (and robots), no happy smileyness.
That’s only the TV/OVAs/manga, fanart is a different story.
Gotta start with smilings or the pain and mindfuck don’t mean much.
(Of course, this is Asuka…a warm, generally happy smile, instead of a smug obnoxious one is OOC…)
Maybe somebody shoulda told Sadamoto that… he seems to feel the pain and mindfuck are only there to bracket the absolute misery of existence.
I Like my Asuka Smug and Obnoxious just like I like my
Rei cold distant and emotionless.
I am convinced that you continuously keep changing your avatar because you know people will keep asking you what it is.
shhhhh! 😛
It’s not pointless. it has 3
Heh! 😛
How does Joyce do that triangle smile?
Practice. That, or the same way some people are double-jointed.
She has a jaw similar to that of a snake.
That means she can also dislocate her jaw and swallow much larger prey whole!
relevant comic
Her innocence.
THE TRIANGLE SMILE RETURNS!
THE TRIANGLE FROWN SOON!
I hear Blues Clues MAAAAAILTIMMME!
Here’s the mail, it never fails, it makes me wanna wag my tail…
When it comes I wanna wail: MAAIL!
Waitwaitwait… Sarah was… happy at one point?
She was happy before 1 BC (Before Comic(DoA))
Or before 1 AD (Age of Dumbing).
Back around 1998, yeah.
She’s referring to the time before storytime, so, panel 2. That’s her happy face.
She actually only said she was happier, not truly happy.
When I try to do it in real life with my own mouth, it doesn’t even compare to Joyce’s gleeful mouth.
I cant even do that U shape with my tongue, when I try it just goes to a point.
Poor you. You didn’t get the right genes. Of course, you could try triangle smiling by shaping your mouth to your bent tongue.
That sounds mighty uncomfortable.
I’m sure if you got lockjaw you could.
Wakey Wakey part 2: Storytime
Umm, Billie, Dracula burns in sunlight. Unless Sarah somehow spontaneously combust, she’s not Dracula.
Also, I’m pretty sure certain retellings of Dracula portray him as a people person…you know…to lure people in for the neck bitin’
That depends on what version of vampires you subscribe to.
The ORIGINAL Dracula did not burn in sunlight. He just lost most of his nifty powers and was kind of lethargic…for an evil undead monster of advanced age.
You can blame Bram Stoker for the whole sunlight turning vampires into crispy critters thing.

In fact, as I recall, the only times Stoker’s Dracula was truly vulnerable were dusk and dawn.
Right, while noon was actualy one if the times he was strongest.
I tried to type down a quote, but I was too slow in transcribing and was like ‘wait, what did she just sa-… crap crap crap.’
So I’m just gonna link the source video instead. Lazy me. 😛
“(though Carmilla tends to sleep late, this is presented not as a problem with the sun, but simply being tired after her nocturnal adventures)”
Her nocturnal lesbian adventures.
…yeah, that’s all I’ve got.
The ref hasn’t got as much to do with sunlight as Sara’s not emerging from her lair, I think.
Why drunk lady call angry lady “Dracula”? Not understand.
It’s a pretty weak insult. I’d almost expect it to come from Joyce.
My theory is that she called Sarah Dracula cos she sucked the fun out of the day… *shrugs*
That or she’s all dark and broody. That’s more of a Twilight vampire trait, though.
No. Sarah has redeeming characteristics and doesn’t sparkle.
So she is more like Angel from Buffy, dark and broody, but still kicks ass.
It’s weird that the palest girl compares the darkest girl to a vampire, yeah.
What is a roommate? A miserable little pile of secrets. But enough talk. Have at you!
Yes!
I thought it was cuz Sarah’s tall and lanky…like dracula
She’s the one with the bat.
You remind me of my parents. They’re always making terrible puns. That’s where I get it from.
lol
She’s one of those
nasty draculas.
I love how excited Joyce is to hear about Sarah’s dark past!
but then again, aren’t we all?
Why it gotta be dark?
Cos no one wants to hear the boring nice light past you know. 😀
http://i0.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/349/990/304.gif
That’s so cute.
It was the 90ies.
Because people don’t punch others in the mouth when their past was lightheated and fun.
Not even boxers?
I think there is more preparation and warning before boxers punch each other in the mouth.
“Dark past”
Heh.
I’m afraid I’ve found myself too distracted by Billie in that top.
Prepare Drama tag.
I think it came pre-pulled in this universe.
Well… I already know that Sarah’s gonna lose this one. Willis announced we’d be entering FlashBackStoryArc sometime soon a week or two ago.
Joyce has a machine that forcably nostalgically ripples the world.
Drat. When I saw Bekah’s post, I thought maybe Billie and Dina were going wiggle their fingers, and make odd noises. (It worked for Wayne and Garth).
Initiate super wavy flashback effect!
“They keep bullying me because I reported my old roommate for doing drugs.”
Under 100 characters. No flashbacks or storytelling needed. You just want to use Photoshop’s sepia palate (how do you spell this word), don’t you, Willis?
In his defense, it’s a very nice palette.
Sepia? No, I prefer blues.
Palate
Palette
A sepia palate probably isn’t healthy. 😉
So that’s how you spell it.
Joyce can get the best of people in the worst scenarios. Lovely.
Expect “Dracula” in bookstores next monday. Prices may vary http://ryanbalis.tumblr.com/post/29106960659/expect-dracula-in-stores-next-monday-morning-oh
Subtitle: “Dracula don’t take no shit from no bongoes.”
Edited because of the lols http://ryanbalis.tumblr.com/post/29106960659/expect-dracula-in-stores-next-monday-morning-oh
WANTS
Yaaaay, storytime! I want Hamster Huey and the Gooey Kablooie!
Wrong comic. Shortpacked is where the Gooey Kablooie is about to take place.
I fully expect commentary by Dina.
“While the least physically imposing member of the herd, the small one posesses a triangular dentition, which, when combined with a particular tone, is capable of bending much larger specimens to her will.”
oh my god dina needs to crossover with kyra from Uh-oh It’s A Dinosaur
“The roundest one proceeded agressively utter a remark refering to the tallest as a dracula. I did not know that the tallest was a dracula and will now keep this in mind as to not accidentally give her garlic or go to the beach (which I have previously noted as being inhabited by sharks swam up river from the ocean)
a Dina commentary to wrap all this up would be ULTRA-AWESOME!
Yes it would.
Joyce uses Triangle Smile. It is super effective.
AAAARRRRGGGHHHH!
So she WAS one of them and not just exposed to their liable antics.
AWESOME, retro triangle-smile Joyce!
It’s not THAT retro! In fact, I’d go as far as to say it’s fairly current!
Yeah, I suppose her head shape just looks more like Roomies Joyce to me because she has her head tilted back.
This has been my favourite strip for quite a while.
Congratulations.
I couldn’t read past the first panel for two very big reasons.
<_<
Yes, very big.
Mmmmmm thick Asian women…
Ha! I knew Joyce was going to be understanding and wanting to get Sarah’s perspective on the situation.
Storytime
C’mon grab your friends
We’ll go to a very
Distant mall…
With Joyce the grinner
And Sarah the cynic
The fun will never end
It’s storytime
Crazy-Booze-Princess and Dinaline the Dinosaur Queen
How the hell are Joyce and Billie taking this in stride so well?
…well, ok, Joyce has been shown to not understand violence. But it was against a woman! Not a guy!
True, Billie should have objected to the failure to stab everything.
Hey, Aydr, you take that “spray tan” comment back or I’ll be forced to repeat what I said before.
“Once upon a time, all the fairytale creatures you ever heard of were transported from thier world…to ours.”
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure this isn’t the story we were asking for, Sarah.”
I WISH Pinkie Pie were real.
Well, with Pinkie’s fourth-wall-breaking powers, who’s to say she isn’t?
Billie, as…incredibly hot as you look right now, and you do, please shut…shut…uh…what was I talking about again?
Boobs, I believe.
I initially didn’t like Joyce, but she just keeps getting better and better.
Did you read ‘Its Walky’?
IT’S STOOOOORRRRYYYYYYYYTIIIIIIMMMMMEEEE!
STORY TIME!
Billie’s straps seem out of place.
Only because they’re not on the floor.
‘SSTORRRYTIIIME!’ is now an official pun.
Ub… storytime?
