… don’t thiiiiink you can describe Sarah as a ‘token’ when Walky and Sal are also part black, Billie and Dina are asian or part asian, and Ethan and Joe are jewish. Just, uh, no.
The closest I’ve seen to a token black guy happening recently was the last minute casting of Lawrence Fishbourne to voice the Silver Surfer in the second Fantastic Four movie. As the only other black guy isn’t likable and dies pretty easily.
If you want some token white guys, try the latter version of Death at a Funeral. Or Red Tails, when I watched that I couldn’t tell the white guys apart!
As someone who grew up in Bloomington, IN and attended Indiana University, I can attest that this looks more or less like the ethnic/racial make-up of the campus, definitely more Asian and Jewish students than African-American.
Wow, Sarah’s starting to show a little of her rebellious side. She’s even drinking out of a bendy straw and not a standard-issue straight straw! What a maverick.
S’pronounced “Broo-hah-hah”. I’ve heard it, and used it, quite a bit myself.
This said, I was glued to a dictionary for much of my childhood, so sesquipedalian loquaciousness was standard operating procedure when I was younger.
Or, well, general use of words that most people never encountered outside of a thesaurus, in any case. The habit has worn down to some degree, I do have to look things up fairly often, but the fact that the words still come up in my train of thought (and that I seek to confirm their usage) I suppose qualifies as a good thing.
Less so the fact that I seem to be incapable of writing something less than three sentences unless I’m cracking a joke.
Sarah is not Billies biggest fan. If I remember she let Billie know her opinion of her when Joyce tried to get Sarah and Billie to be friends. I don’t think it’s seeing bloodshed in general so much as seeing ‘Billies blood shed’.
But, yeah what is she doing in the men’s dorm?
And I the penalty boxes all set up and everything.
I think you accidentally a word.
No, I pretty sure didn’t.
Stop trying make mistakes
i no idea what you mean
so bloodthirsty and kill-happy that even Sarah wants to see murder!
Don’t we all?
sarah wouldn’t mind if all the other students died. then she wouldn’t have to deal with anyone or their drama.
Well, there is still plenty of time remaining in their college days.
This fills up Sarah’s monthly appearance/quip quota.
I imagine she has checkoff sheet.
“Okay, I’ve taken care of Joyce and Billie, now for Dorothy.”
It’s better than most tokens, where they say things like “oh snap!” and “no she di’int!”
Oh yeah, and “DAT ASS!”.
… don’t thiiiiink you can describe Sarah as a ‘token’ when Walky and Sal are also part black, Billie and Dina are asian or part asian, and Ethan and Joe are jewish. Just, uh, no.
Nothing questionable about reflexively calling every black character a token.

In my younger years, I was a part of an anime “club” that had one black member; he went by the nickname of Token.

Actually…I’m with Sarah…I woulda liked to see them throw down.
Wow, Sarah’s starting to show a little of her rebellious side. She’s even drinking out of a bendy straw and not a standard-issue straight straw! What a maverick.
and look at that casual paper cup rather than the recommended glass or even plastic cups.
What? It’s more recyclable than plastic, and less breakable than glass. She doesn’t have to hear gripe-drama from us environmentalists this way.
Wait. Bendy-straw. WHAT AR—– *shot*
Wasn’t Ruth just giving Billie shit for being where she wasn’t supposed to be? And Sarah just gets off scott free for being in the same place!?
Ruth must truly be rattled.
a better question…Why’s Sarah even there?
Ain’t they in the men’s dorm?
Sarah finally took Joe up on his offer.
that’s why she looks so chipper!
Billy was in trouble for being there for the purpose of avoiding Ruth.
Ruth doesn’t handle rejection too well.
She wants Billie to return her calls.
She just can’t see that it’s over already.
I just hope this sinking ship has lifeboats.
If you can’t have the brouhaha settle for the brew.
I have never seen a person actually spell “brouhaha”
I don’t know if I’ve ever heard someone pronounce “brouhaha.”

Sir I have hypopotomonstrosesquipidaliaphobia and I find your 2nd paragraph offesnsive.
I got to use repatriate, eviscerate, and defenestration today (and at the same time). It was fun.
Excuse it if its sub-par I haven’t done an edit like this before
<a href="http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh635/DoAedits/modded.jpg title="TaDa!"
The picture totally makes up for your problems making a working comment. X)
yay
Awesome.
thank you!
It’s a shame that Ruth doesn’t have much of a bootay.
ill fix THAT later
Excuse it if its sub-par I haven’t done an edit like this before
…
Sarah’s kind of a bongo.
I like Sarah, and I usually see where she’s coming from, but yeah, she could probably tone it down a bit.
*raises eyebrow*
Interesting. I did not foresee this side of Sarah, the side that loves bloodsport between two college girls.
Either that, or she’s just making her rounds for quip-giving.
Maybe she just wants moar fanservice, like the rest of us do.
pssst…click the link a few comments up
I think it’s more of her desire to see Billie and/or Ruth’s blood on the floor than it is to see blood on the floor in general.

Looking for guys who need to have their kneecaps broken.
Never let it be said that Sarah doesn’t have her priorities in order.
…grrr Revised version!
http://i1255.photobucket.com/albums/hh635/DoAedits/modded-1.jpg
…I liked the first one better, looked like she was just wearing short-shorts.
Even if the sweater+short-shorts combo was odd by itself, it was more likely to be a thing.
I should have expected that kind of edit from you Izzy, for some reason I thought you were going to just expand Ruth’s arse with the Liquify tool.
Liquefy tool? What’s that? What program is that in?
The hell is up with Ruth’s feet?
Slippers
I’m starting to think that Sarah doesn’t like Billie.
Just a hunch.
darn I thought this would go on longer.
I love the look on Billie’s face in the last panel.
Regarding “Why is she in the men’s dorms?”:
As posited by Ruth roughly two pages ago, Billie is using the men’s dorm elevator to avoid her. This implies the two dorms are connected in some way.
It well may be that Sarah is of the mind that if her destination is closer to the men’s elevator than the women’s, why not use that one instead?
It’s so that
a: she can appear in this strip
b: everything is set up for awkward confrontations in the man-vator later on
Maybe Sarah is avoiding everyone, not just Ruth. I bet it’s her daily route, and she only runs into the mains on an extra drama day, like today.
Sarah looks so cute in this strip, she should not frown more often.
Looks like somebody got lost on the way to Blood Sport College.
Which is totally a thing I didn’t make up right now.
