“Despite all the odds”? I’ll have you know, Sierra’s feet smell better than any other character’s. I’m barefoot much of the year, and the only time my feet smell is on days that I put shoes on. Think about it — you close them up in a nearly water-tight enclosure with lots of warm insulation, and then they sweat like tiny little pigs and shed untold numbers of skin cells. There is no better place to culture bacteria and fungus. Your shod feet smell nasty, because they are nasty. Me & Sierra, we smell great, ’cause our feets is clean.
Tom speaks truth. Foot odor is a by-product of the fact that we, as a species, were shoes. Barefooters don’t suffer from the smelly. (I wouldn’t go so far as to say their feet are “clean”, because one walk across a gas station parking lot will leave you with soles as black as pitch)
We “wear” shoes, not “were” shoes… as it were.
Oh… OK, that saves me the question I was going to ask, about evolutionary paths and such XD
Indeed, Tom is correct. It has been proven that our feet stink because we wrap them up in sweat traps (socks) and then contain those sweat traps in non-breathing foot prisons (shoes). I think I learned this on Bill Nye back when I was in school.
