Those lines in panel 3 don’t indicate motion. They indicate the ball’s surprise at seeing its good friend Dina. Their friendship is built on not throwing each other around, so Dina chose to end the game. I’m 99% sure that’s what happened.

I just walked in on someone watching the flashback episode of Big Bang Theory where Sheldon says they’ll be sorry for buying iPods when Microsoft launches their player.
