Acting goofy in front of a girl that you like is perfectly normal. To me not normal is having any super powers, talks to himself and answering back to himself, soaking him or herself in butter and proclaiming “I’m a hamster” while running around in his or her underwear, having extra limbs like a third arm or having the ability to spit acid from you’re mouth(unless you’re a certain type of animal or alien) etc.
Different people have different ideas of beauty.
I find lots of women merely attractive while others are drooling over some “hotness” that I’m not seeing.
Britney Spears was a prime example of that. When everyone was going gaga about her I was decidedly baffled. Then again, I was into Garbage. Shirley Manson makes most people look unattractive
Ah, yeah, that works. I couldn’t tell if you had too many words or were missing a word or punctuation. I thought she might have been saying two sentences. It’s much cleaner this way. You fixed it… LIKE A BOSS.
Willis, great job on Dorothy’s expression in panel 4. I normally have a blind spot for that sort of thing, but her expression fit so well it stood out to me
Am I the only person who feels like Dotty kind of insulted Walky a little bit in panel 2 without realizing it? “Hey, you’re really into this stuff. How does it feel to be a toddler?” It may have been designed for kids, but there are loads of things designed for kids that are, nevertheless, perfectly valid entertainment for adults.
You have a point, but I’d lean heavily on the “without realizing it”. I think she’s talking to herself here, trying to remind/convince herself that the “kid stuff” she misses so much were childish things that she was right to put aside.
That’s completely true, but I guess you learn to let things like that go. I mean, she clearly does like it.
Now that you mention it, that may become one of Dot’s defining traits. She is the girl who wants to grow up and focus on the future. Walky is like an oasis of being able to indulge in her childlish hobbies without having to feel that she should judge herself over them, probably because he is so non-threatening. I wonder when it will take a turn though and have her overcome with a sense of responsibility and try to push Walky to act the way she does.
That’ll happen right before Willis creates another spin off webcomic and abandons this one to work on his new project with promises that it won’t end in a text story where everyone becomes a lesbian.
It’s only really insulting if you have some odd hatred of your childhood and the memories and joys associated with it. Age thirteen, sure “Kid Stuff” is a hell of an insult. By College I think most of us have come to terms with the fact that we still enjoy the pokemon games, the digimon cartoons, Sonic Comics, and the works of Lauren Faust.
Unless you’re expected to get defensive about it, calling such things “Kid Stuff” isn’t insulting at all. It’s just accurate. Especially in a conversation between fans it can be assumed we’re all cool with it.
At the very least I don’t expect Walky of all people to get up in arms over this. Not only was no insult meant, no insult was given or perceived. I’m pretty sure Dot Matrix is in the clear here.
I’m going to have to say no, I did not find it insulting. Why? Look at her expression. She’s not condescending or mean, she’s sad that her kid stuff is gone. Most likely, seeing Walky’s stuff made her regret giving it up, or at least not saving her favourites.
we've just hit NEST, the Autobots, and their Allspark fragment with a 10% tariff
Brad Heath@bradheath.bsky.social ⋅ 20h
This is true: The Trump administration said it has imposed a 10% tariff on the British Indian Ocean Territory, whose only inhabitants are the U.S. and U.K. service members at the military base on Diego Garcia.
"You have to throw trans people under the bus to win elections as a Democrat, trans political ads work, the public is reacting to trans people poorly"
Meanwhile in Wisconsin after tens of millions in anti-trans ads against WI-SC candidate who did not flinch:
SEN BOOKER WILL BREAK SEN THURMOND'S RECORD AT 7:19PM ET reads the @c-span.bsky.social chyron under @booker.senate.gov, it'll be an added bonus today if Booker's marathon on the Senate floor overturns a record held by a segregationist to prevent the passage of the Civil Rights Act of 1957
I was almost right when I said that his brain was melting! ^_^
Well it is hot. Like Dorothy.
No yelling my words from two feet away, no throwing things at her head…
Man, courtship is complicated…
i’m not surprised it is boiling, but someday it will be hers…when they get together
You’re cute when you’re boiling…
Wow he formed a semi-coherent sentence. It’s slow progress, but progress!
Well, one victory at a time.
Yeah I know! I didn’t expect progress. Way to go Walky!
Incredible progress! Unfortunately, panel 4 is looking dangerously close to a relapse.
PROGRESS!!
Is that going to be a meme?
OF COURSE!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X8u7px_GzWQ
Sorry about all this, I am still figuring out HTML for comments
Anything can happem if you believe in it!
So why don’t we PROGRESS!!!
Where? Into your FAAACE or your mom? Should we travel by nickel or were you looking to get there by other means?
So what we’ve determined here is that Walky is making PROGRESS with his penis towards her FAAAAAAACE?
…I fear so.
Awwwww……that’s sweet. Walky learned to share his stuff with the girl he likes.
Walky will be able to pass himself as a (fairly) normal human being if this keeps up.
Depends on how you define normal.
He’s seems normal to me.
So that’s how you define normal? Personally, I don’t believe anyone but Joe, Mike, and Creepy Guy have been acting remotely normal.
That’s probably weird to say.
Acting goofy in front of a girl that you like is perfectly normal. To me not normal is having any super powers, talks to himself and answering back to himself, soaking him or herself in butter and proclaiming “I’m a hamster” while running around in his or her underwear, having extra limbs like a third arm or having the ability to spit acid from you’re mouth(unless you’re a certain type of animal or alien) etc.
aliens are normal now?
Given the probabilities of life in the universe, yes. Also normal is inherently relative.
YOu got me there, what is classed as normal anymore in this era of hipsters, emos, goths, punks, reefer heads, preppies, furries, LARPers and geeks?
Beatniks and squares.
Squares I can understand, but Beatniks?
Since when are they normal?
What wine does one serve with boiled brains, red or white?
Wine? Wine! That there be a sissy drink. Besides, everyone knows you drink whiskey or vodka with boiled brains.
As a tee-totaler, I would most likely end up having a Moutain Dew, but if I was a drinker I would have a Fake Orgasm.
Doesn’t sound appealing, from the ingredients. Besides, I don’t know how chocolate and brains would really appeal to me.
Fake Orgasm: Vodka, Kahlua, Amaretto without cream.
Recipe I found called for cocoa, and despite what my comment above might imply, I don’t particularly care for vodka.
Ask Dr. Hannibal Lecter. He would know.
I’ve always favored white, but I think either goes. Boiled brains are a very versatile dish.
I don’t drink wine.
IIRC, you mentioned that you were a practicing Muslim, that means you would be a tee-totaler by default, am I correct?
Yes, that and I was quoting Dracula.
The only Dracula quote I know is: Blah blah blah, I vant ta sucka vour Blood!
“What is a man? A miserable little pile of secrets! But enough talk…have at you!”
“Playtime’s over. GRANT ME POWER!”
It’s “I never drink…wine.”
Really? For years I thought it was “I don’t drink….wine”. Thanks for correcting me, Lesharo.
I’m going to say white and probably something with a bit higher acidity to it because of the high fat content of brains. Maybe a sparkling wine.
Does this mean that when you call someone a fathead, you are really saying that they got a lot of brains?
Why’s Walky’s brain boiling? Is Dorothy that hot? I mean, Joe only rated her a 7, right?
He did change it to an 8…
When did Joe JOE Dotty?
IIRC, never.
Scale’s run different for different people. One person’s 7 can be another person’s 9.
Filming it can turn a 7 into an 8.
Then it ends up on the news at 10.
And when it becomes a meme, it’s up to eleven.
Where it ends up been repeated over 9,000 times.
Exactly. For example, if you have a thing for girls in glasses, that will likely upgrade Dotty for you.
“Shirley Manson makes most people look unattractive”
For example, Shirley Manson. ZING!
Good effort, Walky! Keep it up, you can do this.
(David: Dialog in panel 2 is very awkward. You might want to fix that.)
Wow, way to be an asshole!
How is the dialogue in panel 2 awkward? It sounds like something a real person would say to me.
There was an extra “it.” I fixed it.
Ah, yeah, that works. I couldn’t tell if you had too many words or were missing a word or punctuation. I thought she might have been saying two sentences. It’s much cleaner this way. You fixed it… LIKE A BOSS.
Is it just me or did Walky’s eyes get bigger in the last panel?
Nope. They are the same size. His mouth, however, is taking up a great deal more face real estate and thus making his eyes seem bigger.
Must be the heat from his boiling brain making his eyeballs expand.
Quick, Walky, remove your brain and lob it at her head!
I GIVE IT TO YOU (splat)
Sounds like a snippet from a porn soundtrack…
PLEASE ACCEPT THIS
MUCH OBLIGED THANK YOU
Is that Canadian porn?
I want to see it when Mike ties up Walky later because he wouldn’t stop jumping around the room and yelling that Dorothy likes him.
Nah, Mike would just punch him in the face.
You mean in the FAAAAAAAACE!
I knew it! when I posted face, sooner or later, someone will come along and reply with FAAAAAACE. ^_^
For a nickel!
Ha! Facebaiting.
That happens a lot around here. You just can’t ignore great openings like that right?
But of course!!
Of Course!
Progress!
I can almost hear the “boink”.
*applause*
Relationship progress goes “boink”?
Sometimes, usually round about level five.
And then Walky throws his bed at her.
It breaks three of her bones, campus security is called, and the whole thing ends up a horrible fiasco.
– as opposed to how not-a-fiasco that it started out as…
*melts* That is the sweetest thing I’ve ever…
If Walky stops shaking before she leaves it’s because he now needs to change his underwear.
Just as long as he doesn’t change in front of her.
Everything I poo….I poo it for you.
That almost made me tear up. He was willing to give up something special for a crush
She’s dealt with love-shy geeks before, I see.
Yay Walky for talking normally, and yay Doreen for being kind! This strip is happy-making. <3 <3
Pst. Dorothy. <_<
But, yeah, nice to see them interacting on an almost normal level.
Gah. Dorothy. Of course. >.<
Which I could say it was the first time I'd done that.
*Wish
…Screw it, it’s too late at night…
It’s okay, Alex, we all get names confused on occasion.
Willis, great job on Dorothy’s expression in panel 4. I normally have a blind spot for that sort of thing, but her expression fit so well it stood out to me
I love her face (faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaace!) in panel four!!
No, Dorothy, don’t encourage him. If you feed him, the mother will reject him and you will have to take care of him forever.
Oh my, how many times in my life have I been in Walky’s shoes here, the girls they are so frightening !
I LEND IT TO YOU!!
BONK!
Alien-headed head alien lover.
Progress!
Braaaaiiiiinnnssssss
this is starting to get really adorable instead of creepy
Well, he’s no Edward, at least.
As in Scissorhands?
Well, no, but that is a much better comparison.
Adapt or die, Walky! You’re almost there!
Am I the only person who feels like Dotty kind of insulted Walky a little bit in panel 2 without realizing it? “Hey, you’re really into this stuff. SP!-Ethan is lesbian now?
Damn you, Willis!

Oh. Oh, wow. We’re starting to get an idea of just how much Dorothy gave up to follow her dream. This:
1) Makes my heart break for her pre-emptively, given that she’s almost certainly not going to Yale, and;
2) Makes me wonder just how willfully blind Danny was to even think that Dorothy might change her mind and go along with his plans instead.
They say that love is blind. I say maybe we should work on that. Seems to cause lot of trouble. They accuse me of being unromantic.
I’m hoping that Danny’s newly-developed spine last week because it realized Walky was going to be needing one, and is just now arriving on the scene.
Go for it, Walks- I’m rooting for ya.
*spine disappeared last week. Type fail.
If love were an RPG…
Walky gained 100 EXP!
Walky has reached Lvl 2!
Speech +2
Intelligence +1
Walky can now cast “Occasional Complete Sentence”!
He’s going to BSOD any second at this rate.
Aww… poor Dorothy. Sucks that she had to sacrifice her childhood for school. I know that pain.
Omigawd Nachitos.
omfg I want a Walky.
