It looks to be a combination of “embarrassed at the sexual implications and rising fury at how fast joe moved on….and maybe just a pinhc of perverse sexual lust”.
It could have gotten caught up in her clothes. I’ve had that happen where something small like a sock ends up hiding in a shirt one of us is wearing and we don’t realise it until hours later.
Right. A man’s underwear is sacred, only because if we lost them, we’d have to go out of our way to buy more.
If Roz realizes this, she and Joe should elope, like now. And if Joe knows where those underwear went and still wants them back, then the universe has already bound them together for eternity.
In this case fast is just a compliment on his abilities. No one’s actually expected to wait after a failed first date. If they had been an item that would be one thing, but he pretty much could have made arrangements with Conquest before leaving the building and retained his class.
Awesome development. “Why are you siding with him? He’s a Pervert! Us girls have to stick together.”
Amazi-girl then picks her up and tosses her off the vicinity like a javelin. Breaks records and then makes some offhand remark about which she would prefer, the torture caves of Professor Manyaxes or joining the track and field team.
Thank you! I had been seeing everyone saying FAAAAACCE, and even joined in myself, but didn’t know where it was coming from. I had of course read that comic but apparently not the comments.
Upon reading the comments, all I could say was “Damn I love these guys.”
Wow, more recent than I expected. I was searching through the It’s Walky comics, thinking it was an old and hallowed reference from days long gone. Nope.
(Link in the upper right, It’s Walky! Be warned, clicking that link has been known to immobilize people in their seat for a long time, simply clicking the mouse repeatedly.)
I know Joe’s expression in panel 4 isn’t as dramatic as Joyce’s near-aneurysm, but just look at him. His face says it all (mostly using “Oh” and a series of four-letter words).
Holy shit! It would be awesome to find out that she actually learned a shit load of bible passages in there and can but heads with Joyce on that level too.
but, that would involve touching his [insert whatever childishly polite term Joyce would use to describe the male reproductive organ] with her hand. I think that epiphany would break her mind
Between that word and the idea of a Bible verse battle between Sal and Joyce, I’m going to have lines from Porky’s stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
Well this time she has reason. He’s just shown to her that he regarded her so lightly that after the date was done he went and slept with another girl.
Lets look at this logically and truthfully: Joe was serious about the date. He invited her out, and treated her with shocking respect, (considering it was Joe we are talking about) for a majority of the date. Yes, he wanted to Joe her, but never once did he force her to do anything. And yes, his eyes wandered upon Connie, but that’s hardly a punishable offense.
However, after he got beaten by Mike and Joyce, which resulted in the date ending on bad terms, Joe was completely at liberty to hook up with Roz. Joyce physically assaulted Joe and the proceeded to disavow any claim on Joe romantically.
She has no reason or right to get angry at him. I won’t say his actions are very classy. He’s a dog. But technically he did nothing wrong. Unlike Joyce who helped beat him.
I agree and disagree.
I agree that she has no right to punch him, but I still think she has every right to be angry with him. When she asked Joe, “Were you ever really seriously about our date?” she was really asking, “Did you really take our date as seriously as I did?”, and I think both you and Joe are undermining how seriously she took the date. He just dates around for a run of one night stands with people who don’t expect to stay exclusive fore more than ten minutes, but she came to college looking for the man she wants to MARRY. That’s why she went so far as to dress up, hire a supervisor, ask him serious questions, and take it slow. Because no matter what she told her friend, she really CARED about this date, and no matter what she told Joe, he probably really hurt her.
I find it hard to sympathize with Joyce considering how terrible she’s behaved this entire plot.
Despite what she thinks now, Joe took the date very seriously. When he saw how nice she was dressed, he wanted to change to look nicer for her. He took her to dinner, and didn’t immediately pressure her for sex. He didn’t even proposition her at any point during the date. The closest he came was attempt to start a conversation where they discussed their opposing opinions about sex and lust.
Joyce spent the entire time speaking dismissively of his faith, trying to meddle in his family life, force-feed him her own faith so as to convert him away from his own, hired Mike to attack him should he show any signs of sexual interest and then proceeded to attack Joe herself.
If Joyce should be angry at anyone, it should be herself. After all, its HER fault that the date went the way it did. What Joe did after she attacked him and the date ended, is hardly her business. Its fine she has hurt feelings, but if she chooses to act on them, she’s just proving herself to be the bad guy.
Y’know, it never says in the above comic that Roz and Joe slept together *after* the date… Joyce may think she was another conquest (not to be confused with Galasso’s offspring) and that mingled with premarital hanky-panky may have pushed Joyce’s buttons. She does tend to jump to conclusions rather impulsively…
Now I can’t stop picturing this Lesbian-man character. He’s like Spiderman, but doesn’t dress in tights, is overweight with the creepiest beard, and all his puns are terribly insensitive to the gay rights movement.
Wanna bet this relationship eventually comes up in Leslie’s gender studies class? Possibly Leslie’s lesson text boxes overlaying a separate location Joyce/Joe silent scene?
Joyce’s expression in panel 3: Is “aghast” or “disgust” more prominent? And did anyone have to explain Roz’s interesting headgear choice from last week to Joyce?
I can’t help but comment on Joyce’s face in the forth panel because it’s so awesome. Lets see normally blue eyes become fire red now that’s pretty angry, but man just how much rage do you have to have for your frown to actually extend PAST the borders of your face?!?
I was totally serious about getting you and this other stranger in the sack!
…with my penis.
Kinda hard to claim the high ground when you’ve still covered in tunnel dirt, ain’t it, Joe? ^_^
She can’t reach that high. Fortunately there’s also another spot that’s almost at fist level.
I was thinking the same thing. Joe didn’t plan that request out well.
That’s a HELL YEAH!
This is Joyce though, she would need a few pairs of gloves before punching him there
So his face is still tender, but the other place is nice and hard…?
XD
Worst…timing…ever.
….that’s a new face for joyce.
FAAAAACE!
Expression unlocked: Arousal
If that’s her turned on face I don’t think she has to worry too much about men trying to soil her virtue.
I think that’s more a “Exceeding the Fury of Hell” expression.
It looks to be a combination of “embarrassed at the sexual implications and rising fury at how fast joe moved on….and maybe just a pinhc of perverse sexual lust”.
Cover your groin!
This is _Joyce_ you’re talking about. Anything within a foot or two of ‘naughty bits’ is probably safe from any sort of contact =P.
So a midget is totally safe from her!
So your suggesting that Joe start cock blocking, then?
Why does she have his underwear? Weren’t they at his place? Unless….
It could have gotten caught up in her clothes. I’ve had that happen where something small like a sock ends up hiding in a shirt one of us is wearing and we don’t realise it until hours later.
Same here, except replace “hours” with “days.”
She’s got a thing for guys’ used underwear. What’s the problem here?
Souvenir.
nono, trophy
A man’s underwear is sacred. *looks at glass-cased, sellotaped, and pressed packs of pearly whites.
Right. A man’s underwear is sacred, only because if we lost them, we’d have to go out of our way to buy more.
If Roz realizes this, she and Joe should elope, like now. And if Joe knows where those underwear went and still wants them back, then the universe has already bound them together for eternity.
Just kidding. I’m wondering where they went, too…
It was more sexy than wearing his shirt out.
Oh Roz, I love you. XDD
If only for that face Joyce is making.
Best face ever. I need to learn how to do that.
lol, joe is covering the wrong body part…
All Joyce needs is smoke coming out of her ears.
Hey, she already rejected him. Can’t blame him for finding a new love. (Of course, less than 24 hours after rejection? Might be a little fast…)
More like less than an hour. Joe works fast.
Your avatar makes this comment gold.
Though it may have taken two.
In this case fast is just a compliment on his abilities. No one’s actually expected to wait after a failed first date. If they had been an item that would be one thing, but he pretty much could have made arrangements with Conquest before leaving the building and retained his class.
I’m not sure “class” is the right word for that. It’d be acceptable but it wouldn’t be classy. Then again, he isn’t exactly a classy guy…
Oh yeah Joe, he’s serious alright, serious about pimpin. Nice timing Roz.
Don’t try it in the halls Joyce, Amazi-Girl might strike.
Surprised no one made a FAAACE reference yet.
Overrated…….oh what the hey, FAAAAAAACEEEEE!
What comic is the FAAAAACE! reference in? I tried searching the comics, but it’s heard to figure out how many a’s and e’s to have in there.
This one: Face
Gotcha covered.
Thank you! I had been seeing everyone saying FAAAAACCE, and even joined in myself, but didn’t know where it was coming from. I had of course read that comic but apparently not the comments.
Upon reading the comments, all I could say was “Damn I love these guys.”
I think its literally titled ‘Face’ so its not that hard to find. Its in the ‘day 1’ part.
Wow, more recent than I expected. I was searching through the It’s Walky comics, thinking it was an old and hallowed reference from days long gone. Nope.
I really hope this doesn’t end with Joe somehow taking the blame for the disaster date.
Were you EVER serious about our date? You know, the one where I hired a guy to attack you?
The really funny part of this is remembering Joyce screaming at Joe to “Ruin me!” in the pouring rain from the Walkyverse.
When was that?
Long ago in a comic far far away.
(Link in the upper right, It’s Walky! Be warned, clicking that link has been known to immobilize people in their seat for a long time, simply clicking the mouse repeatedly.)
Its a trap that gets me all the time. A trap I harbor perverse sexual lust for. <3
Didn’t have to click once with the autopager add-on. Didn’t help >.<
“Destroy me! Destroy me!”
I know Joe’s expression in panel 4 isn’t as dramatic as Joyce’s near-aneurysm, but just look at him. His face says it all (mostly using “Oh” and a series of four-letter words).
I agree! I didn’t notice until I read your post! Hee hee! He looks like a robot! (Joebot?)
Where is Sal to beat some sense into the bible thumper?
Holy shit! It would be awesome to find out that she actually learned a shit load of bible passages in there and can but heads with Joyce on that level too.
Joyce’s face in panel 4 is the best thing that Willis will ever draw.
PUNCH HIM IN THE JUNK.
but, that would involve touching his [insert whatever childishly polite term Joyce would use to describe the male reproductive organ] with her hand. I think that epiphany would break her mind
A taddywacker?
Between that word and the idea of a Bible verse battle between Sal and Joyce, I’m going to have lines from Porky’s stuck in my head for the rest of the day.
called it i am master of the future
Last comic had comments defending Joe. This comment has them wanting Joyce to punch Joe.
What the fuck? xD
this comic*
Well this time she has reason. He’s just shown to her that he regarded her so lightly that after the date was done he went and slept with another girl.
She dropped him and had someone hired to Mike her in the face at the drop of a hat. So he dropped his pants with Roz and got down.
I still defend Joe over Joyce.

You know how some people would have dealt with a date that… disappointing with alcohol? I imagine hooking up with Roz could well be Joe’s equivalent.
Personally, I see it as the healthier of the two: seeking out companionship, as opposed to drinking until you forget or simply don’t care.
So I agree with you, Shift. Joyce was well out of line that night, and made it clear that she had no further interest in him.
Joe did nothing wrong?
THE HELL?
His date brings a chaperone for her own security. Given a choice between accepting this or walking away, he attempts to bribe Mike.
Joe gets no high ground after that. None.
Joyce Brown vs. Miko Miyazaki–FIGHT!
Eh, on second thought, maybe she should split that fight with Mike.
In this comic, there are no heroes.
Joe did not plan that well.
Joe’s gonna get his bits punched. How fun.
… And with that Joyce Gravatar (FAAACE!), you just won an internet.
I just love this Gravatar. I makes EVERYTHING I say, better.
This situation needs our friendly neighbourhood Lesbian. She’d sort them out good, I’m sure.
Now I can’t stop picturing this Lesbian-man character. He’s like Spiderman, but doesn’t dress in tights, is overweight with the creepiest beard, and all his puns are terribly insensitive to the gay rights movement.
Try not to think about what gadgets he’d come up with…
I kinda think Joe’s expression in the fourth panel is funnier…
It kinda is, but it’s overshadowed by Joyce’s over reactive expression.
Joyce got Biff mouth in pannel 4 XD
Wanna bet this relationship eventually comes up in Leslie’s gender studies class? Possibly Leslie’s lesson text boxes overlaying a separate location Joyce/Joe silent scene?
Go, fists of righteousness!
Eh, better than rights of fisting.
I remember this one! Turned out awesome.
Joyce’s face in the fourth panel. I’m afraid her mouth might fall off. 😛
Joyce’s expression in panel 3: Is “aghast” or “disgust” more prominent? And did anyone have to explain Roz’s interesting headgear choice from last week to Joyce?
I can’t speak to panel 3 (what, are you a computer programmer?), but panel 4 looks more like “I’ve been possessed by Zuul” to me.
“Request Danaed.”
its like a combination of the anime embarrassed face and a Joyce “OMG” face
Not in the FAAACE!!!
Maybe his stomach might do.
The funny thing is, Joe *was* serious, in his own Joe way. He seemed interested in making her a real “project” for long-term Joe-ing.
Whatever happened to the dildo-hat?
Welcome to college Joyce.
Yeah Joe! WERE YOU SERIOUS!?!? Dating is srs business, Joe! (Bwahahahaha!)
4th panel Joe face = best panel Joe face.
Hit her back. =\
I believe the Joyce face in the 4th panel may be the best face Willis has ever drawn.
How did Roz get there so fast, wasn’t she back at the dorm cheering on the Billie / Ruth confrontation?
Isn’t mike still nearby.
Roz is the same in any universe. XD
Gotta love that look… it’s not so much that shit hath hit the fan… more so that shit hath smashed the fan to hell.
Joe’s face in panel three XD
I can’t help but comment on Joyce’s face in the forth panel because it’s so awesome. Lets see normally blue eyes become fire red now that’s pretty angry, but man just how much rage do you have to have for your frown to actually extend PAST the borders of your face?!?
I could easily imagine the next panel being a shot of Joyce throwing Joe through the wall of the building.
Joyce’s face made the whole strip. LOL
