Now all that’s missing is a “Steps of Oddessa” reference to Battleship Potempkin, and Sean Connery sitting by Joyce, asking “And what are you prepared to do now?”
I’d be very disappointed if he didn’t. It seems like a very Mike thing to do. In fact, I first thought he had the money in his hands in the last panel until I read the comments. Nope, he’s just warming up his fists.
Y’know, the only other things we’ve seen Mike do by now are shutting down Billie and dragging Amber off her computer… could DOA!Mike be a dark, brooding force for justice? A silent defender of the night? Could he be… Batman?
if that’s getting to know mike, by the end of the night they’ll be married. it will be a marriage built on trust, principals…and punches to the FAAAAAACE
I’ve been wanting to see Joe get punched in the face for a good, long time now. While we don’t actually get to see Mike punch him in the face, this is the next best thing, and Willis is the best.
I don’t think I could go out with someone who couldn’t just kick me in the nuts themselves. And I certainly wouldn’t go out with someone whose idea of a chaperone was a guy who wanted to punch me in the face.
Mike reminds me of Johnny from an old Cartoon Network show. You know, Johnny with the slicked back hair and the sun glasses? The flashy smile? Okay, whatever. I’m the only oneee
Bribing = inappropriate.
I’m just impressed he had $50 to spare. $50 buys a lot of college romen noodles.
And a lot of moms.
25000 to be exact.
i don’t think even he can do that…
He’s still new. probably got a lot of family money and hasn’t yet needed to ration it out.
It’s ramen. Learn it. Live it. Be it.
BE THE RAMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
A punch is worth a thousand dollars.
I’m surprised Mike didn’t take the fifty and THEN punch Joe in the FAAAAAAACE!
I assumed he did
Mike’s a sociopath, but not a thief. He wouldn’t try to AND an OR.
i thought he punched then took the fifty, but either works
Mike is nothing if not fair. A jerk, yes, but a fair one.
PUUUUUUUUUUUNCH
“I’ll take punches, thanks.”
Let’s face it, we all would punch Joe in the face instead of taking the fifty.
Hell, I’d PAY fifty to punch Joe!
Does that mean Joe will come out the night richer for the affair?
That’s a “Hell Yeah!”
Mike is the Eliot Ness of punching in the FAAAAAAAACE!
I’m surprised it took this long for FAAAAAAACE! to pop up, considering the comic.
Nah, it’s too easy. Oh ok, just for you:
Joe is going to have trouble romancing Joyce with that bruised FAAAAAAAAACE!
Ooooo, and inventive too. Bravo, I love it.
^Not sarcasm
Now all that’s missing is a “Steps of Oddessa” reference to Battleship Potempkin, and Sean Connery sitting by Joyce, asking “And what are you prepared to do now?”
The first punch of the evening, and they haven’t even left the building yet. This doesn’t bode well for Joe…
I misread Joyce’s comment in the final panel as “What’s wrong with you okay?”
I think it’s a decent question.
I also love Mike’s expression in the third panel, like he’s actually considering it.
I’m pretty sure he was considering whether or not he could take the $50 while punching Joe in the face.
The answer, by the way, is yes.

Awesome video+ Awesome comic= Win post.
I hope he still took the 50.
I’d be very disappointed if he didn’t. It seems like a very Mike thing to do. In fact, I first thought he had the money in his hands in the last panel until I read the comments. Nope, he’s just warming up his fists.
wow, mike seems to be a decent guy in this comic.
I think it’s more that he can either get $50 now, or unlimited punching opportunities if he stays. Clearly he’s a firm believer in long-term gain.
Y’know, the only other things we’ve seen Mike do by now are shutting down Billie and dragging Amber off her computer… could DOA!Mike be a dark, brooding force for justice? A silent defender of the night? Could he be… Batman?
No, Sal is Batman. Mike is the Green Hornet.
It just gets better
Ominousk coming from the Mike avatar. It’s like he’s predicting something…
gotta say, i love mike XD
Now that’s the Mike we’ve been expecting!
Joe should’ve offered Mike a nickel… And the key to his mom’s house.
Joe got punched in the Faaaaaaaaaaace.
Nice to see that Mike still sticks to his principles.
if that’s getting to know mike, by the end of the night they’ll be married. it will be a marriage built on trust, principals…and punches to the FAAAAAACE
Well, Joe wants to get laid, and Joyce wants to wait until marriage…
i was not talking about joe and Joyce…
Mike’s will cannot be bought. Mike’s will cannot be tamed. You WILL get punched. The $50 will only stop the nutkicking.
Re: “The $50 will only stop the nutkicking.”
Maybe.
I’ve been wanting to see Joe get punched in the face for a good, long time now. While we don’t actually get to see Mike punch him in the face, this is the next best thing, and Willis is the best.
I’m just glad he wasn’t getting to know him with his- *Is punched for attempting to use that meme*
$50. Assuming your mother’s rates haven’t changed, that’s enough for… ONE THOUSAND SEXINGS!
Also, I thought Joe was gonna get punched in the face, but dang, I didn’t thing it would happen this soon!
Well you’d have to figure there’s a buy five, get the sixth free in there once you start talking about those volumes, wouldn’t you?
i am not as nice as joe, had mike punched me in the faaace i would have decked him right back.
I’m so glad to see Mike is himself in this universe, and has his priorities straight. Money can’t buy happiness, but a punch in the face sure can!
It can buy a lot of mom’s, however.
Considering the comic, I’m disappointed by the low FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACE! count in the comments.
For the first few seconds, it looked like Mike had caved Joe’s face in.
Also, I just saw the ad right under the comic, it certainly felt appropriate today.
Oh Mike, how I love you for that. Can he do it again? Please?!
I don’t think I could go out with someone who couldn’t just kick me in the nuts themselves. And I certainly wouldn’t go out with someone whose idea of a chaperone was a guy who wanted to punch me in the face.
That aside, FFFFACCCCCCCCCCCEEEE.
I’m fairly confident that Joe has no problem dating girls who don’t nutkick.
Joe’s criteria for dating.
1. Female.
2. Same species.
3. Still breathing.
4. Under thirty.
And 4 is negotiable.
i can totally see joe hitting on a professor.
Actually, Roborat, all but #1 is negotiable.
okay, this is starting to poke holes in my “softer, kinder mike” theory.
Still need to see more though. He still seems somewhat interested in the affairs of those around him.
Don’t give up on it yet. This Mike still isn’t at the violence and asshole level of the IW/Shortpacked! Mike.
With Mike, there is ALWAYS an “all of the above” option.
Good on you Mike! Live by your principles and punch them in the FAAAAAAACE!
1st Rule of Mike: Never make an offer to Mike that has violence as a possible option if you are not hoping for violence.
No… 1st rule of Mike: He’s whatever you don’t want him to be.
Yeah, it seems that Joe is learning about Mike’s personality the hard way.
he kept the 50 didn’t he?
Yes. Yes he did.
This is pretty much the best way I can think of to introduce Mike to a new audience.
Be glad he did not punch you in the face AND take your $50.
OK this is officially my favorite DoA comic thus far…
At least in this universe, Joe hasn’t had the misfortune to ask Mike to kick him in the crotch yet.
This is probably the first…and only…time I like Mike.
Well, ‘like’ is such a strong word.
I don’t hate him as much as I usually do, and I don’t overall hate him as much as Joe.
So…uhm..yea…compliment!

Yeah, full circle.
Mike reminds me of Johnny from an old Cartoon Network show. You know, Johnny with the slicked back hair and the sun glasses? The flashy smile? Okay, whatever. I’m the only oneee
Johnny Bravo?
he ha hu
Man I’m pretty.
Oh Mama
Do the monkey with me!
Everyone knows it’s a bad idea to get to know Mike….. Unless he’s drunk, of course.
I feel like this has happened before….anyone know when?
I think Mike did something similar to Faz in shortpacked.
maybe every friendship Mike ever made started this way.
Mike’s definitely gonna mike this date up
Say what you want to about mike, but at least he has his integrity.
First week of college and you’ve already learned about the dangers of the false dilemma fallacy.
