I read the last word as ,,WOMBAT” and went through my mind:,,A marsupial in the womb as a housekeeper.”After all,the womb is like an inside pouch, but getting out isn’t very easy.
True. The line is “Peace is a lie; there is only passion.” Sure, you can hate someone with a passion, but there are other options. Somewhere there are Sith who funnel their passion into epic love (or possibly just epic orgies); they are the most emotionally healthy force sensitives in the Star Wars universe.
I always felt the best Jedi or Sith would be one who walks the middle road. Who feels emotions, then moves past them rather than getting mired. BE Happy. BE Sad. BE Angry. And then move on to the next emotion and deal with the fallout of your increased immediate power based on the emotions you just channeled.
There’s an alternate version of the Jedi code that replaces the “There is no X, there is Y” with “X, yet Y”. For example, “There is no emotion, there is peace” becomes “Emotion, yet peace”. I think it’s a much healthier philosophy.
Well if you meatbags get too dehydrated, it can cause suffering, right? And if you don’t keep your fluids up during an “epic orgy”, it ain’t gonna be too epic…
According to science, once the cells have divided enough, the very first thing they make is an asshole and they build the rest of the human from there.
Yeah, there was a woman in the UK whose children’s DNA test showed that they were her husband’s children but her nephews. Turned out that she was a chimera whose ovaries formed from a different conceptus than her blood-forming tissues (the DNA test was based on a blood sample.
I knew a girl when i was growing up with conspicuous mosaicism, but that’s different.
It’s too bad they’re not on good terms, because Walky could really use someone like Sal to verbally smack some sense into him before he lets his grades go too far down the toilet.
Thing is she found out about everything after you broke it off and she still hung around, you can’t still be in the same circle of friends and avoid her at the same time.
And she’s just Super Girl from Earth 2 under a diffrent name because the main universe already has a Super Girl (Don’t read too much into this.. her history is.. a mess)
Okay my mind is messed. I didn’t immediately think of them sharing their mother’s uterus but rather, I dunno, them sharing one like a book passed between the two.
I think you’d have to be the same gender to be co-joined twins. And why the Walky hate? Is this cosmic retribution for him being the Lead in the previous series?
The intersting thing is that, if it hadn’t been for the fact that we have access to the “God” of this universe to tell us these things, we would never know, since I don’t think we’ve seen the actual birth.
Sometimes doctors would change the sex of a baby immediately after birth, without even telling the parents, if there was a birth defect that affected the genitalia severely enough, or if the child was born with both.
This practice has long since been discontinued, but it took place long enough that the Walkertons could’ve been affected.
Ditto. “Y’wouldn’t believe it, but ah once got th’ uterus back from ‘im with an oil stain. He didn’t explain’r anything, ‘n ah spent three hours washin’ it out.”
I read Sal saying she shared a uterus with Walky, and I was all “Whaaaaaat! WTF are you going with this, Willis?” then I realized she meant their mom’s uterus, and everything was better again.
Aaand I just realized I’m confusing ‘uterus’ and ‘placental sack’. Okay, everyone, unless their mum was one of those few women born with two uteruses (uterii?), yep, they shared a uterus. All multiple pregnancies would, saving the same exception.
I think this goes deeper than just expecting more from Dorothy. She expected Dorothy to be there for her. The party was supposed to be a safe and innocuous get together for Joyce and Dorothy got drunk, not only bringing to mind bad memories but also putting everyone at risk after their RA suddenly arrived without warning. In my opinion, getting drunk for that was really a bad move on Dorothy’s part and I feel she might need to apologize for it.
I agree. It was pretty thoughtless of Dorothy to chose that particular time to get drunk. She badly disappointed Joyce. And she may have caused serious problem when Ruthless showed up later.
For Joyce it was another attempt to overcome what happened to her at the last party.
Based on decision making and awareness alone… Dorothy better develop a rock-solid platform or there is NO way I am voting for her.
Really wish Joyce would confront Dorothy, and she might, but at the moment Dorothy is putting way less effort into the friendship than Joyce has. Joyce stood up to her parents FOR Dorothy, and in turn the valedictorian can’t put two and two together about why drinking at Joyce’s party would be uncomfortable. Irrationally angry about the situation and at Dorothy specifically.
Unless their mom has two wombs, they shared the space with each other. There’s not a difference between identical and non identical twins in that regard.
Ah Joyce this is why you’ll be in my top three. You’re just a total goober. She’s like a six year old that just found out about Saturday morning cartoons when it comes to Sal and I like that. “Oh it’s time for Sal!” Little goober.
Gosh, I’m like Sal more and more every time I see her.
Making cracks about her brother is her prerogative, most all brothers and sisters do it, to an extent.
But, Sal and Walky are not on good grounds right now; the parents show really loaded favorism for Walky, partly based on their mixed race. Walky is a lot lighter skinned than Sal, and dosn’t have super curly hair.
Sal works at straightening hers.
At the family college weekend: Sal, dressed in her old private school dress-to please her parents, and attempted to talk to her parents at the college dorm. Her mother couldn’t even see her-literally, she only had eyes for Walky. Her father told her he ‘preferred her hair to be different that she was wearing it at the time’.
She left and they didn’t even notice. Later, Walky and Sal came face to face over it. Walky ended up telling her that maybe if she hadn’t robbed a store at 13 they’d treat her diff. She said he knew that wasn’t so, they’d always treated him diff. because he was whiter. He wasn’t bothered, he didn’t try to comfort her. He just was enjoying what he considered his right, to all the attention. Later, he thought about it and felt some remorse but didn’t really act on it.
So yeah, Sal has issues with him.
It’s been mentioned Joyce and Sal seem to be bonding over this mutual dislike or lack of counting on: and this is like when Sarah did that with Jacob.
This may be different. I think Sal and Joyce will move on as they learn to know each other, if they do. Sarah and Jacob seemed to not do that. Sarah isn’t much of a social conversationalist.
Sal is a loner, but not a mean or cruel person. She came back for Joyce when she realized Joyce was in trouble. And she’s walking her to meet friends. It didn’t take her long to figure out what it was, and to make Joyce promise to talk to someone about it.
Pretty much. We’re not supposed to see Sal as objectively right about her viewpoints when it comes to police and therapy(excluding those about her parents, of course), and we’re free to consider Sal’s judgements however we see fit.
Viewing all cops as pigs is far healthier and safer for people at risk of having cops unfairly target them (like brown or black people). The ‘good’ ones almost all enable the bad ones to start with, and even if they didn’t, bad cops have far too much power to screw you, personally, to worry about the feelings of ‘good’ cops who might feel hurt. They should fucking end the corruption in their house if they want our trust.
Give Sarah and Jacob time… mostly Sarah… okay, ALL Sarah… and I think we’ll see her grow in terms of openness. Sarah’s last appearance indicated to me that she desperately wants that, but doesn’t know how anymore. I don’t think we’re done with that storyline yet, not by a long shot.
But yeah, Sal’s awesome. No question about it. I definitely prefer her to Walky, although that may just be because I see a lot of my worse qualities in him…
It’s not merely Word of God; it is objective fact. Both twins’ base skin tone is #cea87e. There’s a lot more to the complex of issues that make up the concept of “race” than merely skin tone.
Which can be verified in any strip where they are together. Most recently panel 3 of 4 days ago.
It’s just that the exact same skin tone that’s called “black” on Sal is “generically beige” on Walky. According to Walky.
Walky’s problem with the parents issue is that he’s a bit too immature and Naive to see that it actually is a real problem between him and Sal, and is also too immature (and lazy) to either know what to do about it, actually be bothered to do something, or comfort Sal.
Joooooooyce, talk to Dorothy. You are breaking my heart again.
It SHOULD bother you that she was drunk at your party. You SHOULD worry about what she thinks about your relationship with Ethan. But good friends are allowed mistakes and to not be perfect. Talk to her.
One day, Sal is going to find out just how badly wrong her impression of Amazi-Girl is and I’m really interested to find out how she’ll react to that!
That aside, if Sal achieves anything in this mini-arc, it will be this: She’ll convince Joyce to go beyond her indecision/fear loop about talking to others. All personal interactions carry with them a certain level of risk and the risk of rejection is one of them. Although that said I have seen such a huge amount of anecdotal evidence that pro-lifers have abortions when it is them or their family maybe Joyce could make the leap for a friend.
Man. That seems like a somewhat excessively harsh dismissal of Amber.
And sorry, Joyce. Step one of being a cool motorcycle chick is not *wanting* to be a cool motorcycle chick, but rather just *being* a cool motorcycle chick. Or another way: Less talking, more lifting.
Amber attacked her in a parking lot with only the flimsiest piece of justification. “Caped White Girl Power Trip” is all Amazi-Girl is to Sal right now.
i forgot that the bubbles were there for drunk people and thought the alt text was somehow about what it was like being in the womb with him and i was really confused
“WORST WOMBMATE EVAR”
“WOMB TO RENT”
,,ENOUGH SPACE FOR 4 PERSONS,EVEN 5″
NO WOMB AT THE INN
How do do they keep themselves clean every month? WITH A WOMBBA!
I read the last word as ,,WOMBAT” and went through my mind:,,A marsupial in the womb as a housekeeper.”After all,the womb is like an inside pouch, but getting out isn’t very easy.
WOMB RAIDER
wait eew
…Sounds like porn to me.
It is, They were peeing on each other for nine months before they got outta the woubb. KINKY!!
That’s got to be the weirdest documentary of a C-section ever. 😉
Thank God we don’t function like that
Well got to go the grocery store, time to shove my baby back in.
Yes hello, I’d like to find a womb to went….perhaps a womb with a view?
Oh my god, is that really an Uncle Bonsai reference?!? You rock!
That sounds suspiciously like your mother.
♫ “fifteen cents”♫
College Wombies From Hell!!!!
The ultimate webcomic prequel.
An existing webcomic might have objections to that name.
WOMBIES!
How to be cool:Hate people.
I can do that you ass
Sith are all about the hate and those guys are pretty cool.
Yeah, but have you noticed the skin problems they have? I don’t think proactive is strong enough to handle Sith-face.
Skincare is not a high priority amongst the Sith.
All you have to do is UNcheck the box marked “show Dark Side corruption” on the character sheet, guys!
Or you could just wear a fashionable mask.
Actually, hatred is a tool the Sith use to get stronger, but the Sith Code never even mentions hatred.
True. The line is “Peace is a lie; there is only passion.” Sure, you can hate someone with a passion, but there are other options. Somewhere there are Sith who funnel their passion into epic love (or possibly just epic orgies); they are the most emotionally healthy force sensitives in the Star Wars universe.
Nope. The Sith forbid love just as much as the Jedi do. Sith claim love makes you weak and whatnot.
The Sith code is like communism: On paper it sounds amazing, in practice it gets hijacked by fascists who want more power.
But Yoda told me Hate leads to Suffering.
heh, “power/strength leads to suffering” sounds like a more intense version of the old “money can’t buy happiness” adage
Well if you meatbags get too dehydrated, it can cause suffering, right? And if you don’t keep your fluids up during an “epic orgy”, it ain’t gonna be too epic…
No no no, you have to hate the RIGHT people.
I believe the expectation is that you hate the wrong people.
Why not both?
Just hate everyone equally…
The Tao of Mike…
I just love that they’re talking with each other somewhat normally now 🙂
I also love that it’s basically the same strategy Sarah used to try and bond with Jacob.
I’m envisioning Sal punching Walky in the womb.
Still less painful than punching him in the sack.
I dont think they even had hands when they were still in the sack together
According to science, once the cells have divided enough, the very first thing they make is an asshole and they build the rest of the human from there.
The way I read that makes it sound like, “With Mike, they stopped at the asshole.”
Wait how can you start with the asshole?
Logically that’s just empty space (a hole) you could howver start with the sphincter
Er? If you mean the womb, of course they did. They were there together till right before they were born, after all.
If you mean the amniotic sac, they never were in the same one.
Pretty sure they mean an entirely different kind of sack. As in, not fertilized eggs yet. Just a gleam in their daddy’s eye, if you will.
Ah. Thank you. 🙂
Slowely Sal waited to develop working arms
The first thing she did was light a cigarette.
It’s survival of the fittest.
Well he didn’t absorb you so thats gotta count for something
Or devour her, just like baby sharks do.
He couldn’t; they’re fraternal.
oops, those brackets don’t work here. I said, “/pedantry”
I read somewhere about ‘chimera’, a person born with 2 sets of dna. The possible cause is fraternal twins merging.
Everyone could use some motivational speak from Sal. She could be a life coach.
I don’t think Sal cares about Walky’s grades and future. I would count on Dorothy.
Actually, she does. She cares if he fails so she can rub his and their mother’s faces in it.
There’s actually a conservation of mathergy between the Walkerton twins. If Walky’s grades rise Sal’s will drop again.
So it turns out it’s a mix of both issues!
That smile from Sal at the end sells this.
Sal didn’t really comment on Joyce’s confession about being the Whiteboard Dingdong Bandit.
It is cool to see them bonding, in any case. Could Joyce get her wish, and actually become friends with Sal?
The day The White Board Ding Dong bandit drew a ding dong on your white board was the most important day of you life. But for me it was tuesday
But for Joyce it was just another Friday.
shit part of the comment got deleted
But for me it was friday
The actual Tuesday quote has been blocked because commenters were spamming it after the robbery flashback.
Does Sal even go in the halls to have noticed the ding-dong bandit was a thing?
She is to cool to notice mere stuff like that. That’ why she sticks with other cool people….and Malaya.
No whiteboards outside the windows
Thing is she found out about everything after you broke it off and she still hung around, you can’t still be in the same circle of friends and avoid her at the same time.
Is there a superhero (or villain) named Power Trip?
Closest I can find is Power Girl
And she’s just Super Girl from Earth 2 under a diffrent name because the main universe already has a Super Girl (Don’t read too much into this.. her history is.. a mess)
Daisy from the school paper wants to talk to you NOW.
Or Power Pack.
I’m not sure but, I think they’re called ‘squeans.’
/sarcasm…
Nothing bonds two people quicker than mutual hatred of a third person 😀
Okay my mind is messed. I didn’t immediately think of them sharing their mother’s uterus but rather, I dunno, them sharing one like a book passed between the two.
Yeah, don’t worry, I thought first about some siamese kind of stuff.
I think you’d have to be the same gender to be co-joined twins. And why the Walky hate? Is this cosmic retribution for him being the Lead in the previous series?
Are we 100% sure he’s cis? If not, there’s a possibility they might’ve been joined by the uterus.
We are. Of both of them. Orientations, of gender, sex and sexuality, are constant across Willis-verses.
I think it’s just because their parents preferred him.
Sal and Walky shared a uterus because it was too big for either of them to eat on their own.
“I LOVE UTERUS BUT I COULD NEVER EAT A WHOLE ONE”
is that how it goes
The trick is to avoid filling up with bread before the uterus arrives.
“I simply adore children”
Took a second to click for me too. I was thinking conjoined twins born with only one uterus between the two of them, but then I got it.
Even regular identical twins that weren’t conjoined share a uterus. 🙂
Aaand I just realized I’m confusing ‘uterus’ and ‘placental sack’. Okay, everyone, unless their mum was one of those few women born with two uteruses (uterii?), yep, they shared a uterus. All multiple pregnancies would, saving the same exception.
Isn’t it unsafe for women with that condition to have pregnancies in both at the same time?
Probably, but it can still happen.
*plays “Tiny Bubbles” on the Muzak*
Admiration is the furthest thing from understanding, Joyce. If you stop putting Dorothy on a pedestal, your friendship can really begin to take off.
She hasn’t put that kind of pressure on Ethan though. Either she doesn’t hold him to that same standard, or she didn’t notice.
Ethan wasn’t as noticeably drunk, though. Perks of being so big I guess.
For Dorothy it was just another party.
Once again characters are getting blamed for not being able to read minds, ususally its Danny but now its Dorothys turn
Stated “irrationally angry,” didn’t I?
Once again let’s gloss over stuff like that to make an enlightened point.
And a new friendship starts to bloom <3 ^_^
Gosh I’m liking Sal less and less every time I see her.
Now? When she’s being friendlier to another person than she’s been in the entire comic up till now? Weird. Did you want her to stay mean?
Some people are determined to hate a character no matter what they do.
Indeed. I’m not one of those people but factually speaking you’re not wrong.
It would help your image if you explained why you dislike the character more and more instead of just stating the dislike.
I’m not in the market for a PR guy, but thanks.
That last line had me so confused like
They have the same uterus?
The amount of people confused by that line is pretty amazing.
They’re twins so they shared their mother’s uterus.
theyre not identical twins unless one of them is transgender
Still in the same uterus as fetuses.
… Yes?
Are dizygotic/fraternal twins a state secret wherever you’re from?
What’s not to like?
I dislike how she often views the world as black and white. All therapists are bad, cops are all pigs and the fact she almost stabbed a boy at 13.
Eh, looking at the world as black and white is pretty normal for a teenager.
I definitely prefer her to Walky, although that may just be because I see a lot of my worse qualities in him…
This. But I believe the Word of God is that Walky and Sal are drawn with the same skin tone.
It reminds me of a certain dress, except that black became gold instead of “generically beige”. But that’s close enough.
Walky’s problem with the parents issue is that he’s a bit too immature and Naive to see that it actually is a real problem between him and Sal, and is also too immature (and lazy) to either know what to do about it, actually be bothered to do something, or comfort Sal.
“So, wait, what you’re saying is in order to be cool, I need to share a uterus with someone…”
Are you trying to bring a new Slipshine into existence?
Womb-mates.
It’s just something that Joyce is going to have to learn to live with, just like the rest of us.
is her impression actually wrong at all though
Almost definitely, to a degree and in the big picture. But as far as what Amazi-girl’s done to Sal…, no she’s basically entirely spot on.
This is almost totally irrelevant to this entire strip, but I think there should be another ship that we should have going on.
I vote Sarah/Raidah
The mention of uterus randomly makes me wonder what Joyce’s opinion on abortion is.
If she isn’t reflexively pro-life I’d be stunned into immobile silence.
Ditto.
Almost violently against it I imagine. Like if Dotty had one Joyce would be Radiah to her Dorothy’s Sarah.
Although that said I have seen such a huge amount of anecdotal evidence that pro-lifers have abortions when it is them or their family maybe Joyce could make the leap for a friend.
It’s always different when it’s us afterall : /
about that…
How ironic people called “Pro-Life” make me so violently angry : /
These people also tend to be against healthcare and food for poor people, and against any and all gun regulations. So it’s really just “pro-birthing”.
Considering Sal left the party pretty early, Walky must have been drunk-goofing off really quickly after that one drink.
Oh, he WAS.
The Walktertons have hideously low alcohol tolerance. He was probably drunk just touching it.
Sal and Joyce bonding. Thank you Willis! Been wanting for this to happen forever! 😀
But is it convenient bonding or ironic bonding?
“Yeah, I’ve hated Walky MUCH longer than you have.
He was always kickin’ me in there…”
Given Sal’s interaction with Amazi-Girl in the past, it’s not surprising.
Amber attacked her in a parking lot with only the flimsiest piece of justification. “Caped White Girl Power Trip” is all Amazi-Girl is to Sal right now.
Yeah, it makes sense based on their interactions
Remember to pick up your issue of Caped White Girl Power Trip on new comic book day!
“Caped White Power Trip” sounds like the last 70 years of Marvel and DC.
Due to the old walkyverse, Joyce saying she can hate Walky just comes out so weird to me.
She used to have a crush on Danny, which is even weirder
“Crush” is a pretty mild way to put it.
Suffocate seems more apt.
Sal being nice to Joyce makes me feel fuzzy.
Sal’s gotta stop smoking before I ever think she is cool.
Joyce hating Walky runs counter to my expectations and it hurts, but I still love it all the same…
I’m actually a bit surprised there’s no fanart of Sal and Walky in the womb yet.
i forgot that the bubbles were there for drunk people and thought the alt text was somehow about what it was like being in the womb with him and i was really confused
I had the same thought process and concluded that prenatal Walky must have been surrounded by shoujo bubbles.
dumbing of age aka “everyone bonds over mutual dislike of someone else”
“Then, they all have sex.”
Berkeley Breathed termed “those little bubbles” “Boozles.”
ohmygod the poll though
Wombies!
… I wonder how close we got to that being the concept of the reboot of Roomies!?
If Willis has twins, It’s Pregnancy could be renamed Wombies.
if?
i’d BETTER be having twins!
Whaddaya mean YOU’d better?
